Funny you mentioned this, I was eating breakfast today and started to lean towards Margarito, but then I started thinking back to all the advantages Cotto has and held my ground on Cotto.
We as boxing fans tend to overanalyze everything. Hell, I remember watching the Mayweather/Ortiz on PPV live and remember thinking Floyd wouldn't be 100% coming into the ring because they were having technical difficulties with his entrance song. Something happened that Fifty Cent just stopped singing altogether and I thought, "Well, ****! How is a fighter supposed to get pumped if he doesn't have his entrance music?" :nonono: Boy, am I an idiot...
I also remember thinking Foreman would beat Cotto because he was going to be a bigger fighter and be able to stick and move for a full 12 rounds. I honestly thought he was going to make Cotto look silly.
And I was worried about Jennings, too... :nonono:
And I felt certain Cotto would beat Pacquiao because I felt Pacquiao wouldn't be able to take a shot from a true welterweight. :nonono:
The only times I've been to big fights (live in attendance) was Juanma-Salido and Calderón-Segura I.
All in all, I'm bad in my predictions apparently. I'm also horrible luck for Puerto Rican fighters.
If Cotto loses this Saturday, it'll add further substance to my long list of Teddy Atlas-esque predictions. God, I hope I'm wrong. There are too many lives in the Cotto Express for it to happen. Will somebody think of the children?! :frown:

I'm not sure if I watched a different fight or not, but I never predicted Margarito to do well in this fight...he is a finished fighter. Therefore the only difference in this fight is that Cotto still has a couple years left of fighting whereas Margarito should have retired after the Pac fight. Margarito was clearly only in this fight for the $$$.
I was predicting Cotto to finish him off early, and therefore I'm not sure if Cotto is actually fully satisfied with the result - considering that Margarito was coming on late and if it wasn't for the eye, Cotto would have probably won a close decision with enduring a hard last three rounds.
I wasn't that impressed at all. Let's see in his next fight - if he fights a proper fighter. I can't remember the last A Grade fighter that Cotto fought, actually it was Pacquiao, since that its been average fights and just now a has been Margarito.

What concerns me is that he has completely convinced himself that Margarito fought him with plaster. Now that could be good in the sense that it makes him more confident.....but I hope that line of thinking doesn't make him ignore tactical errors he made in the first fight.

Bad stoppage, fighters eyes swell all the time. Margarito was never hurt like he was against Pacquiao and Mosley where he took a serious beating. Cotto landed pretty punches but he wasn't sitting down on them. Margarito's whole face was Fed Up against Pacquiao. Last night he had no marks on his face other than the swollen eye. People are going to say and beleive what they want but Margs was not out off it and taking a beating like against Mosley and Pac and if they let the Pac fight go the distance, this one could have as well because all Magarito had was a swollen eye. He wasn't hurt or breathing hard but that is boxing its all political now days. The Ref didn't want to stop it. Neither did Margarito and his croner so the only thing I can think of was that they were afraid of a law suit and if that was the case they shouldn't have OKed the fight in the first place. Powlak was worse off than Margarito. I fell sorry for the fans that payed to see a Championship fight and were robbed of the Championship rounds. If that is the new standard of stopping fights in New York now (a swollen eye) I will never PPV a N.Y. boxing oe MMA fight again......
