Collazo was hesitant in this fight. I am sure he had more confidence against a 5'6" small guy, than a practicing legend (and I do mean practicing). He really did not play the southpaw card enough--when he did there were glimpses of success. Still, Mosley won. Very over-hyped fight. If Mosley takes his supposedly rejuvinated body to DLH or PBF he will be filleted and splayed...on the mat. But, why would he want to fight DLH? Why not Forrest? Mayorga? Margarito? Gatti? Perhaps he knows what everyone knows...that he lost the last DLH fight.
They take samples after the fight. You would know if he was juiced.
I watched one of his first fights on utube the other day. He was smaller, but still muscular and tall. Gimme a break. No matter what people dislike WK. I much prefer him to Rahman or Tyson or Holmes as champ. He does his work in the ring and keeps his mouth shut outside the ring--except when he is donating his fight fees to impoverished 3rd world nations. A pure boxer.
Oscar Has No One But Himself To Blame!
Despite PBF's accuracy and quickness-especially his ability to get away from DLH before DLH could flurry in the corners--DLH had several opportunities to at least pull out a draw (based on scorecards, one of which I agreed with). The key rounds for DLH were:1, 9, and 11. DLH gave away rd. 1, lost momemtum in rd. 9 after making the fight even in rd. 8, and needed to fight his heart out in BOTH 11 and 12. He did none of the aforementioned. Instead, he let PBF dance away in rd. 1 and rested in 9, 10 and 11. In my mind, it is rd. 1 that is most important-DLH gave away the fight based on that round. Of course, there are many other aspects that also went wrong for OScar, such as a coach that would not keep on him, and his refusal to jab after rd.8 which should have been key to getting PBF on the ropes more often. Without the jab DLH could not keep PBF away from him. I think there needs to be a re-match. DLH with a jab quite possibly wins the fight. Just my two worthless U.S. pennies.
This is one thing about watching it on tv: it is ahrd to see which shots were picked. The announcers often said DLH was picking PBF punches, though, especially in the earlier rounds.
I watched the fight again on the computer, having watched Saturday night at a sports bar with 400 people roaring and clapping. I think either 1,3,or 9 could have gone to Oscar. I had it 2,4,6,8,12 for DLH. Now I have it 2,3,4,6,8 and maybe1 and 9 for DLH...but not 12. In 1 and 9 DLH was pursuing and PBF was just skipping and countering. DLH just got tired atfter rd. 9. So, for DLh at best a draw, but not based on his boxing offense as much as his pursuit of PBF, flurrying and his defense. PBF overall the best fighter.
I had the fight even after 8 rounds with DLH winning 2,4,7,8.
But, on my card DLH only won round 12 after that. So PBF had 1,3,5,6, 9,10,11. 7-5 for PBF.
SI.com said official cards showed DLH losing the last five rounds, that is 8-12! DLH stopped jabbing and he lost the fight.
How can you say PBF contolled the fight when he just skipped around like he usually does? You cannot control a fight without a strategy. DLH obviously had a strategy and pursuing/herding PBF toward the ropes was part of it. Like DLH said, without his pursuit there is no fight. When DLH finally tired, and PBF stopped skipping, in the rounds, yeah he controlled the fight. But not before the 9th.
6'4" mORRISON vs. tONEY?
I will take a giant Morrison over Toney, of course that is if Morrison gets in shape and has about 10 tuneups. I don;t think he has that far to go, considering the type of shape he is in already.
That was an ineresting interview. Green seemed to have a lot of energy, but Tyson appeared to be worn out (perhaps by the world and life itself?).
I watched a few Tyspn-Green vids on youtube, and Tyson was really brilliant. Just bobbing and swooping and weaving and moving forward like a maniac in some of them. I'll take a 1980s Tyson over over anyone in history.
I'll also take Maskaev over either Toney or Peter. Both of them are putting a lot of mileage on their careers by fighting such brutal 12 rounders.
Also, what is your point about Russians being 25% Asian? Take a blonde haired Scandinavian and he will share 15-18% of the same DNA as an African.
Inter-racial mixing is not knew in human history, and it is bound to happen as man migrates from place to place and shares the same proximity with different races.
The original post is clearly sarcasm.
I am amazed people cant realize this.
In anycase, I did not see the fight, but think Toney is on his way out of boxing. Between him and Ruiz now being more or less done, this is a good thing.
DLH Won't Land:
I don;t think DLH has the speed anymore to catch PBF; I also think that PBF will be in the shape of his life--faster than ever. After recently watching the Quartey fight, I don't think DLH could match the hand speed of PBF anymore. Unless DLH comes in at the same fitness level as he did against Mosley in their first fight, I do not think DLH will win (but I am routing for him).
So, it looks like this guy has had some press. He has been stuck in the outback. How many Aussie fighters can one name? In any case, any downloads of this guy?
Happens all the time:
I have no hate for the guy, he's got a lot of skills. I can't speak for other people, but i've just got a bit fed up with some of you people acting like he's the second coming of christ and thats why i've personally got a bit pissed off with him.
Kind of like people made a big deal out of Brock, Peter, Brewster, Oquendo, Guinn, Tillis, Witherspoon, Thomas, Spinks, Berbick and so on and so forth??? And Mike Tyson? He was champ for 3+ years and then he was done at age 24. How about him?
Brock says that size doesn't matter. I say it does. Brock looked a little flabby at the weigh ins, and i would say he would lose anothrr 10 lbs to be in the same great shape as WK. Also, Brock is often listed as 6'1" plus, not 6'2". As long as WK keeps his right up, WK will be landing hooks and right bombs all night on Brock's forehead.
WK Pawed his way past Brock
Can WK paw his way past Briggs or others? WK has great fighting form, but vs. Brock he seldom threw anything decent. There was a lot of pawing and measuring, except for the 5th and 7th, both rounds WK dominated. I wonder: is WK a better fighter because of Steward? Considering Steward's reputation I say that he is not. He often paws, pushes his jabs, does not get extension on his jabs, and is afraid to get hit. While his endurance has improved somewhat, I think his pace should be faster for a guy that has about 10% body fat and is 30 years old. When will Vitaly come back???
It seems JC approached this fight differently than Lacy. JC should have used his speed and jab to keep Bika away from him , but instead JC engaged in a lot of wrestling, which seemed to make him tired after the 7th. I had Bika actually winning two or three rounds in the middle of the fight after the head butt, and as JC got a little tired. I thought JC's corner should have instructed him more in technique like in the LAcy fight. AMong other things, they should have told him to stop wrestling with Bika, who was the visibly larger fighter. Compared to the Hopkins-Tarver fight and the Hopkins-Taylor fight, I would take JC against any of those fighters (based on his performance against Bika).
Abraham did not really fight that seriously against Miranda. Before and after he broke his jaw Abraham seemed to fight in a non-chalant manner. Miranda could not hurt him, even though his jaw was busted in two places. Of course, having said that, I still think Miranda won the fight. I saw the Miranda-Eastman fight, and based on that I do not think that Miranda could be elite fighters. I think both Mosely and Wright would beat Miranda. I fear for Abraham were he to fight anyone after he *shattered* his jaw. I thik he should quit rather than risk irreparable damage.
JT is more than one foot smaller than Valuev and is outweighed by 100 lbs\. No contest. I thought Toney won the Peter fight, but just barely. SO, how can he beat Valuev? Personally, I think Toney is DONE. He should slim down, move down to cruiserweight, and fight Herbie Hyde and/or RJJ.
Get a DNA Test
There was a show on PBS that used a variety of factors, even DNA testing, to trace black celebrities roots. One woman, who looked White and had White features, but had Black hair, was found to be 17% Black based on DNA. More recently a British scientist--who is as White as White can be--was also found to have 16% of his DNA from Black heritage. Based on my limited research, I would say Oscar is probably derives most of his DNA from White heritage. But, I suspect he also has traces of ther races. Oscar's wife is also White, er I mean latina, and I suspect Oscar values his White heritage and all the benefits those features bequeth to him.
Yup. That's right. And some reports are saying the rotator cuff tear might be a full tear that will take up one (1) year to heal. There is no guarantee the shoulder will ever be the same. VK sat on his stool, lost, got surgery and became a champion again. I suppose he could have fought with one hand, but why risk getting a sever head injury or the KTFO'd? If reports are accurate, Lacy may have ruined his career by fighting 8 rounds with a torn rotator cuff.
In anycase, I thought the fight was hard to score. Comments from the experts do reveal that VT was very accurate over the last 4 rounds. Still, I call it a draw because I did not think VT won more than 1 of the first five rounds.
