im a boxer. i've watched mma and i've grappled with cage fighters.. i know how to armbar you from the guard.. but i'm still a boxer. how do you know b-hop wouldnt knee you in the nuts, elbow you in the face, and headbutt you? you don't know what any of these guys know about fighting in the street. to me, it's talent as a fighter. how much did cro-cop know about grappling?? NOTHING. and he has the best sprawl in MMA.
a huge percentage of guys that have fought MMA can't strike for shit. will you admit that? when they go against a silva, liddel, cro-cop or a hunt in MMA they get wrecked due to superior striking. will you admit that?
wand vs hunt. sure wand could take him down, but he chose to stand with him since he's such a tough guy. what if hunt happened to be lennox lewis?
you guys act like MMA fighters equal 1 and boxers equal 1/5th. NO. NO. NO. MMA fighters equal 1 and boxers equal 1. and most of the time the mma fighters' low kicks and thai clinches and shoots and submissions wont even enter the equation in a street brawl. i've been in my share of fights and i used to be an MMA nuthugger. yes the rich franklins and the arlovski's have more skills.. but that doesnt mean arlovski would last 10 seconds in a fight with someone he didnt know that happened to be lennox lewis or lamon brewster..
I don't even know where to start.
1) Johnsosn DOES deserve all the credit in the world for his work ethic, but don't even try to convince me that he had the skills of an elite fighter. Cuz he don't. Why did he beat Jones? Because he worked a hell of a lot harder than RJJ that's it.
2) I don't even know where you guys get this boxing lesson crap. There was NO BOXING LESSON. You can't fucking teach RJJ a boxing lesson. He just threw a hell of a lot more than RJJ SIMPLE! RJJ's punches we're precise and accurate. Johnson just swarmed RJJ with punches. Yeah he boxed smart, yeah he excecuted his plan well, but that's it!
3) Every fucking boxer has SOME kind of power. He didn't KO RJJ cuz of his power. The punch hit the temple, that's the worst place you can get hit in the head. Softest part of yer skull.
4) The old RJJ would have moved and not stay in one fucking place. He was lazy and cocky in this fight. And he got beat. His fault.
If you're gonna tell me that RJJ's career was made fighting buddies than can you name me another fighter that has had more accomplishments in fighting quality opponents in this era?
Listen man, to give Johnson credit for what he did is one thing, but to completely disregard RJJ's accomplishment's throughout his career is just stupid. Anyway, where were the threads questioning RJJ's success before his 2 KO losses?
i agree about roy being lazy and cocky during the johnson fight.. he didnt look the least bit worried like he did in tarver 3. still he wasnt throwing punches which is a sign of roy being worried in it's self
that is exactly how i felt about it,
then they top it off with him singing on stage
i missed him on the bag but i thought he looked pretty good on stage. his voice didnt sound bad and he looks genuinely happy when he smiled
it was interesting how judah and floyd went from hating each other to loving each other when the fight almost got stopped. and floyd was so happy merchant didnt give him a hard time.. i know they have had disagreements in the past where floyd would tell merchant he has no credibility because he doesnt box
Boxing is really boring. I'd like to see any of boxing's top ten at any weight class beat a same weight mma fighter. Not gonna happen!
somebody ban this faggot :)
I think Pac should fight MAB 1 more time cause he'll definately annihilate him again.
What the fuck would the point of that be?
why does everyone want barrera to go out and lose to a guy and get his ass kicked? he's deserves respect. he's not your fucking rodeo clown he's a warrior
Fucking Bruce Lee reincarnated into a boxer
he basically is.. bruce lee trained like a madman and so does pacquiao. the difference is bruce lifted weights constantly and still managed to have insane speed and (probably) endurance while having extremely high strength in almost all trainable muscles
bruce was up there on the pound for pound list at the time. if he trained in boxing i bet he would have been a lot like pacquiao. fast and direct.. he was mean too
to me, you gotta take and give a lot of punches to be a warrior: therefore, to be a warrior, you must be a poor boxer and a strong fighter.
but mayweather couldnt be a boxer at all if he fought like gatti
it would depend on who i fought, i if were in a normal mood-some dropkick murphy ish
fighting someone whos never been to the US be4, born in the usa by springsteen
and anything else that would piss of/embarass the other fighter
haha i love the bruce springstein idea
bruce lee was one of the first people to cross train in modern times.. bruce would pke his eyes out, kick him in the nuts. during his 1 recorded fight he used very dirty tactics and had no mercy. bruce also lifted weights constantly. it's a tough call but i pick bruce.. his TMA experience is perfect for self-defense in a street fighting situation and he was good with kicks and grappling, something pac isn't used to.
i don't think either of them would win 10 times out of 10.. so i'd bet on bruce for the first and only fight
i got the ppv and was excited to see him but he wasn't there :(
i really wanted to see casamayor tho and he whooped some ass. did anybody see how easily he KOed that guy?
