I'm going to bite and take the troll bait:
Tim Sylvia says you are a moron. Watch any Tim sylvia match and say that boxing is boring with a straight face.
i never said i think boxing is boring.
ive only just started watching other forms of combat besides boxing.
i just dont rate mma as badly as i did a few months ago.
There's too much hugging on the ground in MMA
UFC is all right sometimes but where's the class? MMA people always diss boxing but boxing people don't give a damn. If the matchup is good then it's a good fight regardless if it's boxing or MMA.
The lighter fighters in boxing are more exciting than all fights in MMA and heavyweight fights in boxing. The best fights right now come from featherweight to lightheavyweight divisions of boxing....and the LHW in UFC. Whoa that got complicated..
Each one is used to their own rules. Just depends on which rules one trains to fight under. Great fighters are where you find them. I like a great boxing match better than a great MMA match, because I don't much care to watch 2 sweaty guys getting off on each other in the guard position....
for every great boxing match there is, theres at least 5 great mma matches. it takes a lot for a boxing match to be good. mma is entertaining in its brutality and versatility.
great boxing matches are too few and far between. the average mma match is far more entertaining than the average boxing match.

Easy to say when they're fighting for peanuts in MMA (relatively). Try showing those guys the kind of money that big time boxers get and tell me their attitude doesn't change. Human nature.
those "peanuts" are huge numbers compared to what most people make. some fighters make more in one night than most people do in a few years. you dont need to get ridiculously large paydays in order to live a luxurious life.
besides, after cuts from the trainer, manager, promoter, sanctioning fees, the money that boxers get isnt as much as most people think. with the mma, you dont need to worry about promoters, managers, or sanctioning fees.
i will admit that lately i have enjoyed mma more than i have boxing. mma is brutal, downright brutal. they fight cuz they want to hurt each other and they want the title. boxers today want nothing absolutely NOTHING but money.
if a mma fighter had a choice of fighting some1 for $1 million or fighting for the title for $500,000, hed probly take the title shot.
if a boxer were in that situation, hed take the $1 million, cuz he has no desire to do anything in his career aside from make money. its digusting, really.

I have watched both, and I clearly come down on the boxing side. Some boxing fights are boring no doubt (especially if Ruiz is involved) but technically holding too much is against the rules of boxing while it is a major part of MMA. MMA can have exciting striking like C. Lidell but the fights are short and uneventful. There are rarely UFC or Pride fights that go the distance with a lot of striking. It's either spectacular KO or intense boredom.
^Good stuff
Yeah, people seem to forget that some boxing matches are very boring, as well. Generalizing MMA into "hugging on the ground" is the one of the stupidest things I've ever heard. Especially when a good portion of the fighters are strikers who avoid the ground game at all costs. Oh yeah, and have any of you ever done it before? Besides moving into the punch while standing, getting your face pounded on hurts a hell of a lot more.

generalising about anything is askin for trouble.
on the "common sense" post.
there are many boxers who win in mma fights as thier is many
mma'ers who win in boxing matches. nothin is ever set in stone.
as for thier not bein big fights in mma. thats crap.
i recently started downloading ufc fights with t.ortiz, c.liddell,
k.shamrock, r.coutoure
who are all exciting fighters who have had great fights against each other.
then theres babalou (real name) and many others.
MMA will NEVERRR EVERRRR in their lifetime produce somethin like..
De La Hoya -vs- Mayweather
I know boxing hasn't done it yet either, but just the thought and the talk of it is enough to build suspense like nothin else could
you arrived in vegas yet pal?

A boxer beats an mma guy under boxing rules, an mma beats a boxer under mma rules. Common sense.

I've had this discussion with friends before. Even once we sat and watch a MMA tape. These were big sports fans, and most of them hated watching MMA do to its lack of excitment. Its good for 2 min of a fight, the rest is on the floor holding. Then when the action actually gets going its stopped shortly there after. Boxing and MMA both have boring fights. What it comes down to is, when you put boxings best fights vs MMAs best. You'll usually come out with boxing on top. Boxing for one is longer, the fighters have a sort of ability when they throw thier punches, and there may be a round or two where not much happens, but its almost never 12 straight minutes of holding (john ruiz fights excluded). Why I posted a serious response? I will never know.
my brother hates the hugging in mma but he also thinks boxing is gay,
due to the padding, he seems to feel no damage is really done or
something retarded like that. he will let his 3yr old daughter watch
boxing but not cage fighting, seems fuckin stupid but then he tends
to put everything down that im really into, how many times ive had
to sit through his lectures on boxing, or hip hop. snore lol
personally mma is ok, but not spectacular, unless you are into
the groundgame, its very technical i know but so is boxing
