Im watching the preview of mayorga v. delahoya and kellerman says delahoya fought at a weight so he can dominate.
Is kellerman a newbie? Or does this guys really hate on Mexican fighters as I've known and seen and heard him do repeatedly before?
Many fighters drop in weight to have an edge. Kellerman is a dipshit and I hate the hbo got this dickhead to talk about boxing.
See, it is bias when you talk about everything but the comment brought up in the first post. Kellerman has said some stupid shit, I totally agree; however the original post is about his comments on De La Hoya's early career- which I'm sorry, like him or not, Kellerman's totally right.
Well if thats all it takes then Im expecting Vassily Jirov to once again dominate the crusierweight division.
And Bernard Hopkins and Shane Mosely both came down in weight to have an edge in their weight class. Hopkins to middleweight, Mosley to lightweight.
And many other boxers too. Kellerman is hating on Delahoya because he is of Mexican descent, but he can't touch that Chicano.

Max is a smuck..but he has are dream job man..getting prob like 500K a year to travel and cover boxing..but shit he got his brother killed by butler..so I am happy he is back on his fight after going through that shit god bless him and his family..SI did a good article about the Sam kellerman murder.
he does have a dream job, i just hope he praise where it needs be and if he wants to tell it like it is he needs to be more knowledgeable, sucks what happened to his brother especially since max always had talked good about butler, but prison really fucked with butler and the end result.....or maybe it was cause some other shit I don't know but prison ain't a place for anybody and though I dislike the commments max makes, i aggree that prison time was too harsh a sentence and was uncalled for
Basically Kellerman said "Dempsey was quicker than Johnson and had a better, more modern style but Johnson was just too big and had too much reach which would negate Dempsey's skills". I think he assumed Johnson was literally a 6'4" or taller giant, as his name the "Galveston Giant" suggests.
It's not that he picked Jack Johnson. It's his terrible reasoning and lack of knowledge he displayed in giving his answer.
Yeah I guess he assumed Johnson was bigger than he was.
Johnson was about 6'2 and Dempsey ws 6'0 right?
And Dempsey beat Willard who was much bigger than Johnson,
and KO'd Johnson lol
You blow up his comments too much. Talk about bias, seems there is some anti-Kellerman bias.
Max said that James Butler shouldn't have been suspended from boxing when he sucker punched an opponent after a match, and he said no action should have been taken against Judah when he threw that stool into the ring and tried to choke Nady (the ref)
after the loss to Zoo. He is a bonafide dumbass.

Maybe he meant "enough" of a reach advantage. Not more reach.
The way that Jack threw punches I think he could have kept dempsy' at a distance and picted him apart.
He also had some slick D for his era.
How?
He threw looping punches, maybe uf he held him like
he did all of his other opponents with exception
of Jess Willard.

true is a week jewish kid from lower east side..he has never been in a fight.

i always liked kellerman..
hating on him for supposedly dissing mexican fighters subliminally, uhhhh okay w/e floats your boat
he knows the fight game and knows it well, so whether or not you like him, hes on hbo and landed the job so get used to seeing him
and JJ was more devastating AT RANGE WITH HIS JAB than dempsey..dempsey was a swarmer..so maybe thats why he said that..
he gave credit to mark johnson way too early and then marquez kicks his ass, he belittles a.diaz as a top contender while diaz keeps beating fighters and never get a shot a 140 so he has to go up to 147, he disses ricardo lopez, and chavez and the story goes on and on

That same comment is leveled at nearly 80% of all up and coming fighters because it is true. Younger guys who can cut weight and feel no ill effects usually fight at a weight class well below what they could fight at so they will have a bigger size advantage.
De La Hoya's career has shown that once he did in fact move up in weight, around his more natrual size, he ceased to have the same explosive ko power and stamina.
I lost all respect for Kellerman when he suggested that Jack Johnson would beat Dempsey because he "was too big and had too much reach". The problem with that statement is that Dempsey actually had the longer reach.

i enjoyed that sh*t a lot,i mean the whole countdown thing..it got me pumped for the fight and damn mayorga taking this sh*t seriously ,way more then Trinidad. Cant Wait, its gonna be a great fight. My favorite line was something like "Mayorga will come in and lose spectacular or win spectacular."
