I beleive JCC JR. will be champ later in his carreer. Since He didn't have an amatuer carreer I beleive they are going to milk it so to speak. They aren't going rush him into any fights with premium opposition.
I honestly don't think he is headed in the same direction as Gatti. I say this because early in his carreer Vargas wasn't only a puncher/brawler he also possesed good boxing skills. Also he is much younger than Gatti is, so making the transition from brawler to boxer shouldn't that hard. Now, I am not saying that just because he made the switch he should go out and face top opposition. I just think that his transition will be a lot smoother than Gatti's
I would like to have a "shindig", but I will most likely be watching the fight live, since I will be in Las Vegas that weekend. If anybody is going to be in town (Las Vegas) and is throwing a post-fight party or what ever let me know.
Wow it's kind of weird seeing all this love for Oscar, I mean usually there is a lot of DLH haters posting on here. I would love to see him fight at 147 and take on Zab, that would be a great fight. Also a good fight would be against his former sparring partner Antonio Margarito, that would be awesome, I would definately pay the $50 it would cost to see it on PPV. I don't know if it's true or not but some one mentioned that Winky turned down 6 mill to fight Oscar! But yet he is trying to pull a fight with PBF, that to me is a bunch of shit. I mean a fight with Oscar has more chances of happening than that PBF fight ever had. Plus there is a lot more $$$ involved if he fights Wiky. I don't know if it is true that he turned down that money, but if he did then it might be true what Bob Arum said when asked about the DLH-Winky fight. He said that Oscar takes fights in which he knows he can win or that he can make extreme riches off of. For example the Hopkins fight; he made a guaranteed $30 mil!!! I don't see that type of money coming in for a fight with Ronald Wright. So maybe he does know some kind of weakness in Ronalds game, who knows? Anyways Oscar has always been my favorite boxer so for him to come back it would be great against anyone. I would love to see him go in against Mayorgay and give him a boxing lesson he will never forget.
I guess you just wanted to share who you think are the top thirty. It's a pretty good list I don't know if it's a bad list, I mean it is after all your list and your opinion. I would disagree with some of your choices, but not all of them. Now about being too long maybe for a P4P list, so maybe you should have said "My top thirty fighters". I don't understand what the hell "too many Mexicans in your top ten" have anything to do with it being a bad list, Shit I could make a top ten list with nothing but Mexicans and it still wouldn't be a bad list. Why? Because it's my list, and I could put anyone I want in it.
I would like to see Wlad go up against Byrd, just so he can kick his ass. But at the same time I would like to see him go against Brewster so he can avenge that loss, now that he is back to boxing and not trying to go for the home run with every punch he throws.
Ha! This is one of the mistakes other fans think of PAC. That he is weak in the body. lol! Ever wonder why PAC only guards his head and never his body? Now take a closer look how many muscles are there? He doesn't need to defend his body coz he's got no body fat. He doesn't get hurt too much from body shots.
As for MAB, well, the sign of a coward is all on MAB and I don't blame him. PAC is getting better and better. PAC is adjusting to the 130 weight. At 126, Barrera will simply be killed by PAC. If you watched the fight, you could see MAB's face was extremely ruined. And to think when they first fought, it was not yet PAC's prime. Now that he's adjusted well to his weght and taking on more and more skills, I don't blame MAB for being the chicken. He will surely be forced to retire and heaven forbid, I hope he doesn't end up like LJ. I just hope he doesn't end up like LJ.
Here's the reason why MAB is a chicken
1. At the time of the post-fight interview, when PAC and MAB was face to face (MAB's face just got a major rearrangement), MAB said he was defeated and he has no excuses. Now the chicken is claiming it was an off-night when PAC is not facing him. Only a coward would retract from his earlier statements when his adversary is not facing him.
2. He had the audacity to insult PAC (he just showed how much of a man he is... which isn't much) by saying he doesn't take on leftovers but when PAC issues a challenge to him to fight, he goes like a dumb coward hiding behind De la Hoya's ass. Pathetic.
3. A true champion doesn't waste time redeeming his lost reputation. It's been nearly 3 years now and still MAB is ducking PAC like the armageddon. If he's really not afraid, all he has to do is accept the challenge. Afterall he WAS the FORMER PEOPLE'S CHAMP (take note of the word FORMER). And FORMER People's champs should not be taking on pansies like Fana and Peden but should redeem himself as soon as possible. Problem is, MAB isn't.
This is the reason. And MAB is just concerned about money, he doesn't give a shit about his reputation, which isn't much anyway, cause he knows, the next time they meet, PAC is gonna send him to the hospital at 100 mph.
Here we go with the ignorance (not directed to pinoys in general, just this ignorant crap) First of all; no, all I'm going to say is get your fucking facts straight before you go on talking your shit!! I hope the re-match does happen, so that we can finally see if it really was an off-night or Pac just opened a "Costco-sized can of whoop-ass"
Even though he got his ass kicked, I'm going to say Greg Haugen vs Chavez. I know it wasn't the greatest entrance but look at some of the factors. Greg had already pissed of the Mexican audience with all his borderline racial stuff he said. The fight was held in Mexico, and he comes out to what? "Born in the USA". That, in my opinion took some balls.
I would like to see Vargas vs Mayorga, in my opinion RM is an overrated, blown up, shit talker. Last I heard, he said something along the lines of "I hope Vargas wins so I can knock him out and retire him for good." Now I'm not the biggest of Vargas fans but I would like to see him KTFO of Mayo. I know a lot of you guys wont agree with me, but I am going to go out on a limb and say that Vargas will win by TKO if, IF this fight gets signed. It would be nice to see the winner fight ODLH, but I think ODLH would be looking for the biggest fight he can since he is saying that his next fight will be his last.
Erik Morrales gets my vote as favorite boxer. It used to be ODLH but since he has been inactive and talking about calling it quits (which he should and pursue his promoter carreer).
I had B-Hop as the winner. 115-113. I would have at least gone with a draw 114-114. I don't understand why people say "just because you win the last rounds, you shouldn't win the fight." Remember Oscar vs Tito? Oscar won practicaly the whole fight with the exception of the last three and who got the decision? Tito! Bullshit either way. Congrats to the new Champ I guess.
I'm not a big Gatti fan, but it was a good clip none the less. I would have liked to see more of his ko's rather than him taking punishment, but I guess that is how he has made a name for himself.
Don't ask me why, but I am going to have to say Vitali. I don't know I seem to think he has more talent than people give him credit for. I mean his only two losses were due to injuries, and don't tell me he wasn't winning the Byrd fight, because I honestly think he was. He is a Dr after all, so he should when to call it quits after sustaining an injury. I will say that he has fought bums as of late, but all champions are allowed to do that at some point in their career. However if he keeps it up I might just have to change my response to some one else.
I'm not going to say that he is ducking him, but I will agree that the high risk, low reward factor does come into play. However, Margarito did call him out, and Mayweather does say he doesn't back down from no one. If this was such an easy fight like some of you are making it out to be then I'm sure he would have jumped all over it by now. I'm sure the fight will happen but when PBF thinks he has found a hole in Marg's style. As far as Santos beating Marg, DS is a fucking pig who only knows how to fight dirty. I'm not trying to start a race war here, but he only got those wins because the fight was in PR.
Another reason why I think Mayo would loose is because this would be his biggest pay day ever. Do you think he won't let the $$$ get to his head? I do. And Yes you are right Mayo did beat a GOOD boxer in V Forrest, but look what happened, V.F. walked right into Mayo's gameplan. He should have stuck to his plan and boxed him, and he would have still been champ that night.
man oscar hasnt fought in his longest layoff ever! oscar is not gonna be able to jog around the ring anymore as proven in his fight with hopkins and sturm! he was gassed so he pretend to be hurt to the body! but he was able to punish the ring mat with a barrage of hard ass punches! my question is how was he able to hit that mat so hard and not hopkins? hahahaa i have been hit their and when you go down you aint moving your arms hard like that because your side is cramped like hell it takes a good 3 minutes to revive fully.
Oscar and nard set that up oscar has never fought a guy who will bum rush him for 10 rounds! lets see how he will do since mayorga I will put points on this if it happens will come in the best shape of his life just to beat dela hoya up badly! the guy might drink but for oscar he will train hard just to crush him.
If it happens then yes you got a bet. But do you think that Oscar won't be in good shape either? Do you really think that Oscar is going to want to loose to a Don King fighter? If Oscar is crooked like you said and fixed the fight against Hopkins, what makes you think this fight won't be fixed as well? Who is the co-promoter? DON KING!! The power of the GREEN ($$$$) will make Oscar the holder of the GREEN BELT once again!!!
sorry if you feel that way man, we're just reacting to what MAB fans say... like kimmy, telling us that pac is a nobody is unacceptable t us and adoring MAb like his life depended on him... cause and effect... we respect barrera, but if you want us to respect him better, acknowledge pac and don't downplay him like he has not done anything for boxing...
I agree, Pac is a good fighter. I don't know if we can say he is a great fighter yet. He is still young and has a lot left in him. Would you agree with me saying that? Would you agree with me saying that MAB is a great fighter? I guess I am trying to be peace maker between both sides. I can tell both sides respect each others fighter, as far as their carreer is concerned. But I guess the arguement is always going to be, "What would happen in a MAB Pac rematch?" Even when and if it happens their will be excuses from the losing side, so their is not point arguing about it.
I don't know why Pac is ALWAYS brought up in a MAB thread. Perhaps because MAB first said he had an off night, then said he didn't want to fight a Morales "left over", and this just rallied the Pac fanatics.
However, there are lot of us who are fans of MAB, like myself. I saw him defeat Naseem Hamed. I saw him beat Morales, twice (maybe three times). There's many of us who do respect the man and you'll notice me defending him a lot.
Wait a second don't get on the offensive so quickly, I just wanted to ask the question. I'm not saying that there wasn't reasons for Pac fans not to like him, I just wanted to know why? I know that a lot of Pinoys respect and like MAB, just like there are a lot of Mexicanos that like Pac, but both sides are hesitant to admit it. I like both fighters, but can honestly say that to date, MAB has had the better carreer. That's not taking anything away from Pac either. I mean just look at who we are comparing him with.
I just got a question for the Pac fans, why is it that whenever a thread regarding MAB is brought up, all you guys, no wait A LOT OF YOU GUYS (sorry), are quick to attack the MAB fans? Now yes Pac beat MAB, he beat the shit out of him, but other than that horrible night can you guys actually say he has not had a great carreer? So what if he chooses not to rematch Pac? I understand what you all are saying that it is about the pride and all, but come on not all threads regarding MAB have to end up being a "Manny beat the shit out MAB" thread. Now would I like to see a rematch? YES, I would love to see it, I want to see if MAB really had an off-night or if Manny really has his number. Me personally, I think it was an off-night. But I will say this, if the rematch does happen, it will be a hell of a fight.
The first reply answers your question :)
There will never again be a thread about RJJ without Tarver being mentioned.
I agree 100%, but my question was why all the MAB bashing? I mean even on the RJJ threads there isn't as much hatred towards RJJ. Why? Because he rematched AT? Just look what happened to him. Knocked out cold in first rematch, and lost again in the third fight. I just want to know why all the hatred.
mayorga will hurt a rusty de la hoya! styles make fights, trinidad is taller then oscar. And ricardo mayorga will be hungry to be the first to demolish oscars face! he has said it since 2003 he wants to break his face badly and everyone knows mayorga aint scared to get hit.
I agree with you that Mayo is not afraid to get hit, but the thing is De La Hoya is far too discipined to fall into Mayo's game plan. Do you think that Oscar is going to let himself get hit like Vernon? No, I don't think so. Vargas said the same thing about Oscar that was going to demolish him. Even with steroids he was taken out! Now I'm not saying that Oscar will come out and have a perfect night, not at all, the man will not have fought in a year and a half! Of course he is going to have ring rust. But what I am saying is that when Mayo puts his guard down and taunts Oscar to hit him, Oscar is not going to get careless and fall into his gameplan. Many have tried but, I don't think I have seen a fight where Oscar lured into fighting his opponents fight. Again, this is just my opinion.
Why is there so many Oscar haters out there? The guy is like 30 or 31 years old, and Mayorga is way overrated to even come close to beating him, in my opinion. I'm sure Oscar wouldn't come back and put himself in harms way if he didn't feel he couldn't beat Mayo. Tell me, when was the last time Mayo fought and beat a world class BOXER with the caliber and style of De La Hoya? And for those that think Mayo will knock out Oscar, I think it has been proven already that the man can take a punch, the only KO he has is to a naturally bigger man, who threw a well landed shot to the body. I don't know how many of you actually box, but you get a shot like that and I don't care who you are, how many crunches/sit-ups you do, you are going down and staying down for the count. If this fight really happnens I predict another fight similar to the De La Hoya vs Vargas fight. Mayo will come out strong trying to throw that big punch to put away De La Hoya, while Oscar will keep on boxing and moving, using that good jab of his and in the late rounds put the "smoking, drinking, and womanizing while I train" Mayorga out.
I'm not going to jump on the "I knew all along this fight wouldn't happen" bandwagon, but I did have my doubts. The reason being, I think PBF just wanted to run his mouth thinking Winky would never take that fight. Not because he is scared but rather for not taking him seriously. I believe the only reason why he said he wants this fight is to try and promote his "I'll fight anyone, anywhere, anytime" statement. After the Gatti fight he said not in these exact words; I love going to other people's backyards and being the antagonist. If this is true then why wouldn't he take the boat ride across the pond and take the fight against Hatton?
Both of these pugilists have bright futures ahead of themselves, but as of now, Cotto and Jr should not even be mentioned as a possible fight or even compared to each other. They both come from different backgrounds and have different styles. As far as a possible match in the future it is too early to say. I mean Cotto's weakness could end up getting exposed and go on a losing streak, or Jr could end up doing shitty once he turns up his competion. In boxing you never know, anything can happen, especially when the all mighty green is involved, or Don King.
I don't know I like both fighters, but I think I am leaning more towards B-Hop. Like I've said before in other threads B fights dirty and knows how to get away with it. Unless Winky sticks with his gameplan and doesn't get distracted by those type of tactics he could pull it off. But to answer the question I say Hopkins by decision.
You know your hungery now, and get me a number one but dont Super Size it ya fat ass...
FYI it's spelled HUNGRY not HUNGERY. Maybe HUNGARY like the country?
