This thread is too funny to me. First, Manny would never fight Canelo period! His MO is fighting guys that he has most of the advantages over and Canelo aint one of them. Too Young, Too Big , Too Fast and Too Skilled! One must remember Manny has never been known for his defense , so therefore He gets hit , Not a recipe for any kind of success against Saul Canelo Alvarez!:boxing:
He says how it's a business, and he's not afraid of anyone. At the end he says there are certain things and certain opponents he's looking for.
What i cant understand is that this guy is still fighting Champions and multiple division world champions at times and even that isn't good enough. If he fought Pac tomorrow some of u same haters still would not give him credit if he beat him and I say if only because in a fight anything can happen. Amir Kahn is not a bum. Is he the best choice as far as the toughest choice, no. But he has established himself with a good fan base and like him or not makes for pretty exciting fights. U haters are gonna miss Floyd when he's gone because like it or not He still brings more attention to this sport than all other fighters combined!
LOL its unfortunate that he has both hats on (fighter/promoter) so he has to think both sides out but any businessman understands that you have to maximize your revue because the Well dries quick in pro sports. I don't believe for a second that he's scared of any fighter out there, I do believe that it'll take a desperate situation for him to want to work with a guy who's a snake & didn't believe in his star power potential. There's a reason Oscar & May left TR.
As for that Showtime contract...when you're being paid that kind of gwop, opponents have to have something to bring to the table to push ppv #'s...not just "oh he's tough"...there's a difference between HBO/SHOWTIME fights & PPV fights. I wish he could fight EVERY guy out there that's considered a threat but I understand why he does what he does...fans turn on fighters quick, everybody is either a bum, overrated or considered "not ready" so he should just do what he wants because whoever he fights, it'll never be enough.
Agree totally to this post!!!!
I actually think it would be a smart thing for Floyd to do for 2 reasons. 1. It would make sense monetarily. 2. Kahn is probably the closest comparison to Pac that Floyd cud face in the ring. Im a Mayweather fan but im not so delusional that i think a Pacquiao fight wud be a easy fight for Floyd. Pac IMO will need to fight a fast fighter to prepare for a Mayweather bout as well, Think about it! You don't fight slow opponents and be ready for the speed of a Mayweather or a Pacquiao especially a Pacquiao!
I Second that!
Boycott Pac vs Margarito
Boycott Haye vs Fraudley
Boycott Mayweather vs (designated bum)
If you pay money for these fights you are part of the problem, not part of the solution.
Wise up mutherf*ckers and do what is right.
Demand real fights, after all you are paying real $$$$$$$$$$$$.
Yeah I know it sucks a big fat dick to go out on a Saturday night knowing a big fight is happening right behind your back but it's not as if you don't know the winner of these bull**** matchups before the night begins.
YOU ARE THE PROBLEM.
Not the fighters, not the managers, not the promoters. As long as you refuse to stand up for the sport you love you are going to continue to be force fed these bull**** fights.
I actually agree with everything u stated in this post but there is only one problem! Its so hard as a true boxing fan not to want to see fights period! If we boycott these fights, how long do u think it would take to actually get the fights we really wanna see. I feel that part of the problem lies with the fighters themselves. Back in the day, The best fought the best because they would not have it any other way themselves. They truly wanted to prove their greatness, they wanted to prove how dominant they were by facing the very best and beating them. How many fighters can we say this about today. I can't really think of any. I love Money May as a fighter but he has never pushed himself the way I think his talent would allow him to. Manny is the most exciting fighter out there because of his style but he is not pushing himself either! These two are considered the best in the sport and even they are not pushing the issue of facing the very best in competition. As far as this theory that BIG fights have to be built and it taking awhile for those fights to be made, LOOK how long its currently taking to make these fights. Roy Jones jr vs Calzaghe , Roy vs Hopkins 2, Mayweather vs Mosley all mega bouts took way too long to finally be made! If the fighters themself say enough is enough I want to fight all real true bonified fighters and champions then we will get the fights we want! Because at the end of the day its up to the fighters who they fight outside of mandatory challenges. Will some of our heros lose, yeah but only to other great top level fighters, just like the old days. It does not matter if you lose to greatness because fighting greatness in a sense make you GREAT!
I think Roy is more liked than Floyd because he is more humble at his core than Floyd in public opinion. Floyd openly says he is greater than Sugar Ray Robeson, Ali, and all the other All Time Greats. Roy in his prime was very brash but never to the point to make such comments. There are many people who hate Floyd for making such comments but I actually like that about him! Not that I believe him but it places so much pressure on him no matter who he fights! He better not ever lose especially to anyone we feel is a lesser fighter than he is!
Due to the facts!
Floyd Money Mayweather is the biggest draw in the sport of boxing, not my opinion thats a fact! As Money May would tell you, "Stats don't lie"! So due to the facts i think Mayweather should get a little better split than 50\50 because if the same were true for Manny you or anyone else could not tell me that Manny and Freddie would give Mayweather 50/50. I think 55/45 in favor of Mayweather is reasonable but if he says something like 60/40 and sticks to it then he may very well not really want this fight because I feel Manny means as much to boxing as he does!
Both R at Fault!
Manny kept the fight from happening the first time. Floyd the second time. Im a Mayweather fan, but as a true boxing fan I am really disappointed in both for not fighting each other. Pac is a great fighter and champion but just like Floyd, does not fight the best fighters available. Come on man, Margarito? I can't say much for Floyd either in this respect. Floyd did fight Mosley but the time off situation I find hard to understand. It's not like, Floyd is 25 or even 28 years old. HE's 33! I am confident that both these men will make this fight happen! Simply put, their is just too much money on the line. IT should be 50/50! Both hold the same importance in BOXING! I want to see them fight each other but outside of that I want to see them fight all the young strong Lions in or close to their division. Martinez, P.Will, Angulo, Berto, Kahn, Alexander, Bradley, Alvarez, Cotto with Emanuel Steward in his corner, Midana, Ortiz- these would all be compelling fights! The only problem is our 2 greatest stars don't seem too interested in fighting in fights were the money don't meet the risk! But I think that both Manny and Floyd would be surprised at how much money they cud get in these fights because WE the true boxing fans will always support them even when they let us DOWN! SAD BUT TRUE!
Maybe!
If it would of been him instead of Tony @ 147lb? Now as much as i enjoyed watching Manny's awesome performance against Margarito, I would love too see him match his speed with Berto's speed! To me, those are the type of fighters Manny should test his supremacy against. Him and Mayweather both should fight these other super athletic fighters, Berto, Bradley, Kahn, Alexander, Williams, Martinez. Because if we are really honest with ourselves, Margarito even though he was big as hell was the perfect fighter for Manny to showcase all of his abilities and he did just that. I want to see them fight each other and I want to see them fight all these YOUNG LIONS as well. LEAVE THE OLD LIONS ALONE!!!!!!!!LOL:boxing:
If they fight
IMO Floyd would win, but he would take more punishment than we or he could imagine. It would totally be the hardest physical fight of Floyd's career. Im not sure if he could KO Pac but he might would have to in order to win. Im a Mayweather fan but I truly have a brand new measure of respect for the heart the courage and skill of Emanuel D Pacquiao after this Latest installment of his Legendary career. Totally and truly Amazing performance! Boxing fans should be proud of OUR Sport and this man, Pac-man. Margarito also deserves alot of credit too, A true Warrior IMO. Margarito, I forgive you and thanks for making this fight night worth every penny of my hard earned money! AS much as I love Mayweather as a fighter, I have to admit that Manny is currently the #1 PFP fighter in our sport and in order for Floyd to get his spot back he must beat PACQUIAO!:boxing:
Its Ashame!
Shane Mosley did not say these things in this report! Shane is one of the most humble and respectful guys in this sport. He would never make such racist statements. I'm sorry this just does not fit his character in no shape or form. ITS ASHAME THAT SOME PEOPLE HAVE TO LIE AND MAKE UP S@IT TO HAVE SOMETHING TO REPORT!
U can't be serious!
Okay let's get this straight...
Khan Badly hurt, Holds on to beat Maidana.
Maidana knocked down and very hurt in the first and got saved by the bell.
---
Why didn't the Mayweather Mosley title read...
Mayweather Badly hurt, Holds on to beat Mosley?
KHAN DIDN'T EVEN GET KNOCKED DOWN!!, HE HUNG ON AND CONTINUED TO BOX MAIDIVAS EARS OFF!
You're just pissed that Khan survived and you wanted to see Khan get KO'd and fail. I did not want to see him fail but be honest with yourself this guy is no were close to being in the same league as FLOYD MAYWEATHER! The Mayweather/ Mosley bout in no way can be compared to what Amir just went through. Floyd was hurt in the second round and came back in the 3rd round to totally and completely dominated Shane thur 12. Amir was hurt repeatedly and ran only boxing in spots to survive. If not for Joe Cortez being ordered to protect him, Amir would have suffered a devastating KO loss. Amir Khan has a great offensive skill set but will never be the star Manny or Floyd are. His defense is average and his chin is far below average. Manny's Defense is average as well but his chin is battle tested so if need be he can take a good shot and continue to fight on! Amir was touched cleanly to the chin one time, ONE TIME and he was running for his life! UNLESS he is matched with perfect opponents like, Paulie Malinaggi who has no punching power at all, he will always be one punch from losing by KO! He can have a decent career against mid level guys but I don't see him being the star HBO and BOXINGS higher ups want him to be. He can improve alot of things but the chin is not one of them. I like his boxing ability! I think he has a nice style for boxing fans to appreciate, so a part of me was glad to see him not be totally destroyed at the young age of 24! If he continues to chase his dreams of being P4P best, His career will not last very long at all, Sadly.:boxing:
Manny's #1 position was laughable in the first place!
Manny is an exciting fighter, probably the most exciting in the sport but that does not constitute handing him the #1 spot on any list especially boxings PFP list! He did not earn it in the first place. Fighting to a draw and Slit Decision victory with JMM. Beating up a slow but aggressive David Diaz. Beating on a Totally weight drainned Oscar, "who had not fought at 147 in over 9 years". Destroying an aggressive come forward no defence Ricky Hatton. Now, Miguel Cotto is one of my favorite fighters and had he not been cheated and beat half to death by MargiCheato and them damn cement hand wraps your win over him would have definately been something special. Manny fought Cotto right after a tough war with Clottey, after the horrific beating from MargiCheato and still made Cotto drain down to a 145lbs catch weight when he was known to struggle to make 147lbs to begin with. Manny is a great and exciting fighter but his path to #1 PFP was well crafted and doctored by Coach Roach! To be honest I don't think he's even #2 PFP. IMO P WILL should be considered. Beat MargiCheato, Beat the hell out of Winky, Destroyed Quintana, beat Martinez and Kelly ran from him the whole 2009 calendar year, Just a thought!
No Worries!
First of all, this fight will happen! Trust me! All this nonsense about Mayweather being afraid of Pac coming from Pac fans or that Pac does not really want the fight coming from May fans is so crazy! These men are the absolute cream of the crop and are not afraid to fight anybody in the sport within reason. It just has to make sense for them financially in the risk/reward sport that is Boxing or Prize Fighting. These two men have done about all one can do in this sport and both really would probably love to leave the sport on top of the sport. That is why they must fight each other. Fighting anyone else does not make any sense at this point! We are talkin about the biggest fight in the History of boxing! In this sport, Anyone can lose if they get caught with the right punch at the right time. The negotiations for the fight back in March fell through due to posturing from both sides! Egos people! Not FEAR! Both fighters and their camps wanted to be Dictators! Im a Floyd Mayweather fan but I actually would have thought Floyd was afraid or something if he would have made another demand if Pac would have agreed to the 14 days out test in the first negotiations but Pac did not agree. Why? Was he afraid? No. He did not want to surrend or bend to Mayweather just like Mayweather does not want to give anything extra to Pac! These 2 proud warriors will not let this once in a life time opportunity slip away! To be forever known as the one true P4P champion as well as maybe looked at in the today's time as the Best of All Times! Throw on top of that, the most money ever fought for in the history of the entire sport and guess what you have! Mayweather Vs Pacquiao!, P4P! coming to u live from the MGM Grand Garden and Casinos on November 13, 2010 Be There! So no worries! We will get what we all want! Trust me! Im out!
I agree with most of what u are saying...
The bottom line is.....
Khan fights the winner of Bradley/Alexander for all the marbles at 140.
Khan deserves huge credit for that performance, it was a superb effort.
As does Maidana BTW, big props to both guys.
Clearly, Khan is not ready for Mayweather, but come on, hands up who really thought he was? Thought so. How could he possibly have been ready for Mayweather? It doesn't happen by magic guys, and sparring with Pac is just that, sparring.
And anyone who thinks that Maidana was the man at 140 is dreaming. I like Maidana, but he is not on Bradley's level. And the "Bradley is feather-fisted" thing, is about as ridiculous as the "Khan has a glass-chin" thing.
Both fighters put on an outstanding performance! The whole Khan/ Mayweather thing was in response to someone who wanted to compare this fight with Mayweather/Mosley as far as Khan's superiority over Maidana! It was clear to see that Khan has special God given gifts in the speed department but overall he is still a work in progress. He was very hittable by a much slower and uncoordinated opponent. Khan is a brilliant young talent, I take nothing away from him but either his defense has to improve or he will continue to be in life or death type situations when facing the top guys at 140 as well as 147! He will also pose a threat to anyone he faces because his offensive game an pure speed is very formidable even at this moment in his young career. The glass chin thing IMO is still something to keep an eye on because he was hit a few times but was hit only 1 time cleanly to the chin and the whole fight changed in an instant. Did he survive, Yes! Did he look good doing it, No! Can he get better, YES! WILL HE GET BETTER, WE SHOULD ALL HOPE SO! These guys are the future of our SPORT so we as Boxing fans have to be more supportive and get behind them in hopes that they will be the next super stars, like De la hoya, Mayweather and Pacquiao. It's just hard to when BOXING experts like Freddy Roach make statements like Khan has what is takes to defeat Mayweather and has Khan actually trying to convince the public that he can do it and then shows the flaws that would leave anyone saying CHILD PLEASE! LOL! IT WAS A GREAT FIGHT and I GIVE BOTH FIGHTERS PROPS! :boxing:
Its kind of funny to me!
First, let me start out by saying I like both fighters because im a true boxing fan and in my opinion how could one not appreciate the gifts of both these great fighters. Manny Pacquiao has accomplished a great deal in his boxing career and should be proud of those accomplishments. Floyd Mayweather in my opinion is an unmatched talent in the sport of boxing. I think it is ashame how one is revered and the other is so disrespected by many as well as the media for all of his accomplishments. In my opinion, Manny Pacpuiao may just be the only fighter in boxing with the physical skill set to beat Floyd Mayweather but I honestly feel that if they ever met in the ring He also would get outclassed and out boxed by the greatest technical boxer the sport has ever known. Notice, I said Technical boxer not Boxer, that would be Sugar Ray Robinson! Floyd Mayweather in my opinion is not afraid of Manny Pacquiao but curious as to how far the Pacman has come in such a short time. Floyd Mayweather finds it hard to understand how a fighter who just 2 years ago was in a life or death struggle fighting a Light Weight fighter (Juan Manuel Marquez) and is now dominating Welter Weight fighters (Cotto and Clottey). To me, I understand were Mayweather is coming from because the rise was so dramatic and the kind of thing that should make anyone wonder is this really real. Im not saying that Pacquiao has did anything illegal or wrong or cheated in anyway but ask yourself this question. What would you think if Andre Ward of the Supersix Supermiddle Weight Tournament struggled to beat his next opponent Allen Green but then moved up to Light Heavy Weight and knocked out Chad Dawson then moved up again bypassing the Cruiser Weight division and is now dominating David Haye or one of the Klitschko brothers in the Heavy Weight Division. This is the magnitude of what Pacquiao is now doing! In 2008 he was fighting marquez at 126lbs and by November 2009 he is beating up and dominating Cotto at 145lbs and Clottey at a full 147lbs. This seems a little funny to me but hey he just might be just that great. Like I stated earlier I appreciate him just the same and for boxings sake I hope and pray that its real just look at Baseball if u get my drift!
Freddy is so funny to me
Its so funny how he comes up with these things. Freddy Roach knows in his heart of hearts that he was thoroughly impressed at the versatility of the Pretty Boy. So much so that he had to try to spin it in his on mind that Floyd just can't be that complete of a fighter. SEE, in his mind Mayweather had always been this elusive passive boxer with speed and skill. But this last performance by Money May was something totally different all together. This time around he was this calulated and agressive marksman who could not miss his shot. He hit Shane everytime he wanted too while maintaining his defensive posture and walked him down like a bounty hunter closing in on his man. Its ok Mr.Roach I understand why its so hard to believe that Floyd is so complete because in all due respect Pac is really nothing more than a super sonic brawler with little to no real boxing technique. He has great hand speed and and throws punches from many angles but lacks greatly in the fine art of boxing such as defence and can easily be countered by great boxers such as JMM or Money May. Please don't get me wrong, Pac is a great fighter the greatest in the sport of boxing today but Mayweather is a great boxer and that's the name of the sport-BOXING!!!!! Mayweather is brash and and very outspoken even arrogent but there is no denying the boxing skill this man has. He very well could be the Greatest Pure Boxer of all TIMES! Think SkILLS!! OH yeah They keep the bills Paid! Straight cash or MONEY!
Margarito can win this fight if!
He comes in truly in the best shape of his life. He fights consistently behind a hard stiff gab. He fights aggressive but not reckless, must maintain decent defense. Applies constant pressure and cuts off the ring well. Does not get into to many direct exchanges. Works the body every chance he gets! Margarito has a world class chin and I truly don't believe he cheated in the Cotto fight. at the end of the fight he took the gloves off exposing the hand wraps, no plaster can be seen! Check it out for yourself on You Tube! :boxing: He must do alot but he can win this fight!
Should be Exciting!
I think this is a bad fight for Amir, but great for Judah! Judah is a world beater in the first 6 rounds of all his fights. He uses good discipline during the first half of fights but losses focus and has been known to have stamina issues in the latter rounds of fights. Judah has really good punching power and still has some of the fastest hands in the sport. He will hit Amir on the chin, no doubt about it. He has been able to touch every Fighter he's faced at least once on the chin, including Floyd! Amir can outbox him points wise but will not be able to deal with Judah's straight left hand to the chin or that sneaky Judah upper cut. Amir was hit repeatedly as Pac so often is with upper cuts in his fight with slow handed Miadana so i see no problem for Judah landing his favorite punch, that blazing fast sneaky upper cut. All who know boxing and are familiar with Judah, know he is a very dangerous fighter despite his short comings. Amir has no chin and I advise him and his handlers to stay away from all punchers! All it takes is ONE and its over unless Joe Cortez is on duty, LOL!
Arum aint Crazy!
Bob Arum in my opinon, would never put Manny in the ring with Paul Williams. First, Arum wants to keep all the money in-house. Second, Arum knows that he must protect Pac from in real threats. My reason for saying this is not that Pac has not taken on a few tough fights but to question maybe just how tough these fights really were. Ok, Ricky Hatton was hurt badly in his tune up fight against Juan Lazcano and was coming off of a knockout loss to Mayweather. He only looked OK in the fight with feather fisted Paulie Malignaggi and then fights Pac! Pac was not in any real danger here! Ok, Oscar De La Hoya has been nothing more than a part time fighter since 2002. He left the 147lbs weight division over 9 years ago because he struggled to make the weight. He agreed to fight Pac not at his regular weight or comfortable weight of 154lbs or even 160lbs were he fought B-hop but all the way back down at 147lbs. Freddie Roach use to train Oscar at 154lbs and he knew how hard it had become for Oscar to even make that weight so he jumped on a fight with Oscar at 147lbs! Why? He knew that Oscar would kill himself physically just to make the weight and not have any energy to fight Pac come fight night. So again, Pac was not in any real danger here! Ok, Miguel Cotto was not just coming off of one but three fights were he took trumendous punishment! Zab Judah, Margarito and Clottey! So mentally as well as physically he was in no shape to be fighting Pac but he did. On top of that, he came down to a catch weight of 145lbs. People seem to also not realize how much the impact of not having his Uncle/Trainer Evangelista Cotto in his corner, for the first time in his professional career for the biggest fight of his career would effect his confidence! LOOK back at Miguel's face and demeanor for the walk-in of the Pac fight and compare it to the walk-ins of all his other fights. Its a totally different man! Period! Think, Pac in a fight with Mayweather and No Freddie Roach in the corner! So again, Pac was facing a little danger but not to the magnitude it appeared! Everyone knows that the Clottey fight was at best Very Questionable! Here you have Clottey who was able to hit Manny easily and refused to even try to in the BiGGest fight of his career! Not to mention Clottey and Manny have the same promoter, Mr. Bob Arum. I smell FIX! I've never seen the Joshua Clottey that fought in the Pacquiao fight! I wonder WHY! OK finally Paul Williams! Paul is not like any of these other forementioned fighters that Pac has faced. He is not promoted by Bob Arum. He is not coming off of any bad beatings or loses. 147lbs is his natural weight so he would be fighting at the top of his game. Lastly and I feel most notable is the fact that he fights behind a great GAB! The best way to neutralize speed is with your GAB! BOXING 101! ADD the fact that he is 6'3 and has an arm span of 78 inches from fist to fist and fights with the same energy level as the Pac-Man and there u have it! A real and true threat! So with all that said, Bob Arum want make that fight! Arum aint Crazy!
Manny Pac is going to fight cotto for the 154lbs title but at 150lbs!!!!
Just like manny pac won the 147lbs title at 145lbs!!!!!
will someone explain this to me!!!!!!!!!!!
who has manny pac beat???
manny padded paquaio!!! he should get the padded award!!!!
Erik morales lost a trilogy then erik morales lost a "tune up fight" then lost to manny pac!!! Erik was already losing!!!
Oscar De La Hoya 36yr old part time fighter since 2002 weight drained and lost 3 of his last 6 fights!!!
Ricky fatton Hatton drunken fighter and was K.O. by mayweather and mayweather is not even a power puncher!!!
Miguel Cotto looked weak in his last 2 fights!!! and was drained to 144 lbs!! why not fight cotto at his best 147lbs??
manny pac targets weak fighters or fighters he can drain!!!
he has not beat a prime fighter manny pac is a protected PADDED fighter!!!
MANNY PADDED PACQUAIO!!!!
prove me wrong or stop me when i lie!!!
Bro, what's up! Finally someone who can see through the smoke and mirrors. You are exactly right about the PAC-MAN. It kills me how even the so called boxing experts in the media don't call him and team pac out on this like they always do Floyd. It does not matter who Mayweather beats they will never give him credit for it! Freddy Roach is an expert at cherry picking the perfect opponents style wise for Pac and weight drianning the ones who could pose a real threat. Floyd has never made any fighter come down to a catch-weight in any of his 41 victorys and is almost always the smaller man the night of the fight! He fought only 2 fighters that i can recall who were naturally smaller men; Jaun Manuel Marquez a future hall of famer ranked #2 PFP when they fought and Undefeated Ricky Hatton a fighter most experts said wud be too strong and to aggressive for Money to deal with! If you look at the TALE of the tapes for most of Pac's fights he is the bigger man in the ring come fight night. The only fighter that Manny fought who was truly bigger than him was Clottey and Bob Arum told Clottey u can hit Manny but u better not hurt him. LOL! Clottey had no problems hitting Manny cleanly and did not even try to win or even hurt Pac throughout the fight. A total FIX! To me, Pac is a good fighter with a great trainer who knows the game of boxing and who will always put Pac in fights were he has all the advantages. Against Money May those advantages don't exist!
Pac Please?
Pac in a fight with Money May all you have is a puncher's chance. You know this and any real true boxing fan knows this as well. You have no defence and would be easily countered by Mayweather as you were by JMM. Money May is a bigger faster slicker version of JMM! You did not finish Marquez off in a fight were u knocked him down 3 times in the frist round! See Marquez is a warrior and now you know Floyd is a warrior as well. Floyd has an indomidable will to win as undefeated fighters have something you lost many years ago. You will hopefully get your lesson as Shane did but I doubt you will make it to the end due to your aggressive nature and will to win. IF you want to keep your lofty perch in the state of boxing please and i repeat please stay away from Money May because the night you share the ring with him You will most definately be EXPOSED!!!!
