i think it's v solid. Of course he did get ko'd by a fighter not considered a powerful puncher. This was more due to the sheer number of direct shots taken in the 8th, 9th and 10th rounds. Would not be interested in watching a rematch personally.
good point: it's a shame that we can't limit the boards to people who know something about the sport. Both guys gave there all: Calzaghe was the better man, irrespective of where he is from
i personally think he is too fast for Pavlik and would make him look bad. It probably wasn't the best performance for Calzaghe but I give him credit for the win: he adjusted well in a dirty fight.
Some of you are correct. When you say hardest I am assuming you mean the most power generated.
Depending on your physical stature, using certain parts of the body help you deliver your hardest puch. For a tyson, it's setting your feet and driving the force through your legs & ass etc.
Fundamentally it comes down to two things:
1. Force = mass (depends on fist & glove size) x acceleration (rate of change of speed)
2. Torque = force x distance (from where the punch is leveraged)
3. Power = force x velocity
This might sound silly but I still feel that Andy Lee has a lot of potential. It all depends how he recovers from his defeat. At 168 Kessler and Calzaghe both beat Kelly.
I do not rate him but mistakes can always be made. I get more concerned on how he miscalls rounds etc. He may have a knowledge of boxing--it doesn't always translate to good judgement/lack of bias
I think he could be good at heavy but is certainly being hyped up a bit too much. I am interested in seeing how he gets on though and hopefully he could freshen up the division somewhat. Good punching power but he can be very sloppy at times.
lads there are a lot of ignorant boxing fans out there too. They are both great different sports that can co-exist together. Comparing is pointless as is the case with all sports e.g. football vs rugby etc.
I am a fan of Miguel but I don't think he has a chance. People have gone on about Hattons record but the same could be labelled at Miguel. Judah is finished and Mosley arguably won the last fight. Would still like to see it though. Not with Miguels footwork.
I don't think there is anyone out there that can beat Calzaghe. Not Hopkins/Pavlik/Wright etc. Maybe I take that back................what if Goldne Johnson was to move up 2 weight classes? A titanic struggle of epic proportions!!!!!!!!!
Lee is still learning: :it's not a bad return fight. I think he has a lot of potential and is still very young. It'll be interesting to see how he has worked on his defence since the Vera fight.
