Listening to Max right now, Max said after re-watching he gave Joe Calzaghe 5 "generous" rounds. He said before re-watching, he thought it was close, but after re-watching saw it for Bernard. Any thoughts?
I would like to see the fight a second time myself. It seems when fights are close and once you see it for a second time, you get a better feel for who actually won. However, I will say that it was close, either way. I wasn't impressed at all by Joe C's punching and I don't think that B Hop let his hands go enough (although I know the style that he does have).

I used to quite like Max K, but find he's looking nore and more like a shameless self-promoter. Sure, Max has good fight knowledge and he can wrap a story line nicely, but, he should know that victors are not selected on replays, so it's his first impression at fight time that matters, just like the judges.
He's just sucking up to Golden Boy. He knows the powers that be in boxing, and Warren obviously ain't going to do shit for him.
It's a suck-up move, that's it. Very transparent. If you really scored the fight for Hopkins, then you have to give him rounds where he landed nothing and was pushed back and battered.
This is common, by the way. Kellerman is doing it transparently, I have no doubt. But many people will rewatch a fight with a certain agenda, and watch only one fighter and concentrate on any thing they do, highlight it, and justify giving close rounds to them, even when they lost it. I've seen even smart boxing fans do this with their favorite fighters.
I agree. Fights are scored live, and Kellerman should be a man and stand by his ringside scorecard. This isn't like the Warren Commission studying the Zapruder tape of the Kennedy assassination.
I feel the same way. I had bernard 114 - 113. He won the 1st 3 rounds straight and got extra pt for the KD in the 1st. But Joe did make his own run in the 6-9. Couple of those rds were close but Joe was missing and slapping a lot and Bernard definitely landed the bigger shots and was much more precise. But he should have threw more punches and attcked at times instead of trying to counter all the time. But I can't be mad at 115 - 112 for Joe either since a couple of those rds were swing rds like 5 and I think 10 too. But I still had Bernard winning even though I'm the only 1 who did were I was watching.
thats how i scored it, 114 - 113 Hopkins
That was hilarious. I was like GEEZ MAX. Doesn't go out in public with cum dribbling down your chin anymore!
I was thinking the same thing during the Katsidis/Casa fight.

Kellerman also tried to argue Hopkins winning the 7th round after landing one big punch.

I only watched the fight once & had Cal winning by 2 rounds. I thought the fight was very close but the right person won the fight. Some of the rounds were tough to score & could've went either way. They pretty much fought on even terms throughout.
its on 10am-1pm weekdays i believe, but no, only when theres big fights coming up, this is special b/c they never dedicate more than an hour to boxing calls.
An hour is alot. I am used to 0 hours.
If Max really said that then he's lost most of my respect. He and Adelaide Byrd should be banned from ever judging a pro fight if they saw Hopkins land 100+ punches less than Calzaghe and still win the fight.
Not only that, but it was one of Joe's best rounds until the punch anyway. I cant agree with anyone who scored that round for Hopkins at all.
I scored that round for hopkins purely because from 4 to 10 that was the only round that I concieveably COULD give him.
Is this show on alot? Do they always talk about boxing?

It wasn't even a big punch, it was a mediocre punch that caught Joe with his feet out of position so he stumbled back
i believe that happened in round 7?? i scored that round for calzaghe, even tho it was a good punch, calzaghe won that round.
