For those of you arguing that Mayweather has shut these fighters out, well maybe you should consider that Cotto probably lost about the same amount of rounds against those fighters than Floyd did.
You guys are so ridiculous. 12-18 lbs.? Are you dumb enough to believe yourself?
Cotto is already at the weight where he needs to be. It appears as if he is the best shape of his life. I am not sure if he has overtrained, or he just happened to shed that much weight, but he is the leanest that I have ever seen him.
Notice that Cotto does not throw arm punches. He ensures perfect technique on every single punch. Its not how fast you hit the target but how accurate you are and how much power is delivered on contact.
Cotto delivers devestating, punishing, precise punches every time he attempts it.
Williams' reach and height will be a challenge, but it's difficult to say that Williams can keep Cotto away for an entire 12 rounds. Williams' can't fight on the inside, and has a very very long torso which allows for a huge target for that left hook.
I am not a avid Miguel Cotto fan, but I will tell you this; Cotto has obliterated everyone that they have put in front of him. He has beat nearly every fighter more convincingly than they have ever been beat before. Has he had some bumps in the road... absolutely. I feel that he has learned significantly from the mistakes that he has made in the past. If Cotto were to fight a lesser opponent than that of Mosely, many people would disapprove. This is why it is essential that this fight happen now.
Not many people mention that not only does Cotto have an 83% ko ratio, but he has rarely lost a round in doing so. Therefore I believe that many people under-estimate Cotto's technical skills and versatility.
Many of you have obviously not seen the vicious KOs that tito has delivered. The destruction of Reid, Vargas, and Joppy are not the only significant KOs that Tito has delivered.
-Thiam(cant remember his first name) was viciously KOed by Tito
-Hugo Pineda impressive KO
-Troy Waters was a hell of a KO
-Larry Barnes
-Roger Turner
-Yory boy Campas
-Maurice Blocker
Tito's left hook was incredible. I am in no position to say that Tito's right hand is harder than Cintron's right hand, but I can say that I have seen Tito's left hook do some major damage...even more significant than Cintron's right hand.
hopkins beat tito in his prime, taylor beat hopkins twice. taylor by UD over tito
This reasoning is the dumbest thing that I have seen on BS in a long time.
Hopkins beat Welterweights when he beat Tito and DLH.
Rigghhht, he got destroyed by Tito and came back and gave Oscar one hell of a fight. Or was it just luck? And the funny thing is that Vargas got fucked up right after that fight not the Tito fight. Steroids fucks up people big time, where have you been hiding?
If you cannot admit that Vargas was a different fighter in the DLH fight than that proves your biasedness.
Vargas even talked different after the Tito fight.
Tito is also sorry about your boy Yory Boy.
On behalf of Tito, I apologize for tito destroying Campas and Vargas. :(
Stick to football.
You have nothing to say when you are proved wrong, you didn't resopond to any of my replies.
You really have been bitter lately about PR fighters, are you angry about your boy Escobedo losing to a Puerto Rican?
It's ok to come to terms with that loss. Don't worry you gies still have Abner Mares.....that kid really has something.
Mayweather says that he is in this to make a mark in boxing history, yet all he cares about is money......Mayweather is prissy little biatch who has lost the respect of the boxing community.
I bet that even if Oscar loses to Mayorga (doubt it), Mayweather will still want to fight DLH.
Yori sucked anyway, he lost to the best fighters he faced, Oscar, Vargas... etc.. who cares about him?
Do you know why he lost to them? Because he was destroyed by Tito.
DLH fights fighters that Tito beat down- Carr, Camacho, Vargas, Campas, and now Mayorga.
I don't see Tito coming back, but if he does he will still be a force in the Junior Middle or middleweight division. A Oscar/Tito rematch would make both of them lots of money. I think that the only way that Tito can beat DLH, is by a puncher's chance, maybe a "liver shot" just like the one B-hop gave to DLH that made DLH cry. Tito also has other options like Kassim the Dream, and Ike Quartey.
Vargas was Vargas in the Oscar fight, he was doing good.
He was just too young to be facing guys like that so early. Steroids fucked up him ;)
Sorry for a kid (Sanchez) ruining Gomez forever, he got brain damage
too bad Gomez was a 122 not a 126 or 130 like Sanchez, oh and Gomez now admit that he was on drugs several months before that fight. So i guess i could use your excuse and say that Drugs fucked Gomez up not Sanchez....right?
By the way that's why he is remembered as the greatest 122 ever.
Just so you know Sanchez was the best thing to come out of Mexico. So I am not ashamed of my favorite fighter being beat by a great 126/130 fighter that could have been so much greater if he wouldn't have died.
Oscar didnt cry, Tito cries to daddy all the time cause he losses, Hopkins fight was fixed, anyway.
Tito will never beat Oscar again if they ever rematch. He'll brawl with Tito and give out the best retirement fight of the century. Oscar by KO
You really think Oscar can brawl with the Tito? :D you are very funny. Tito's power is much greater than DLH and if DLH were to brawl with Tito i would fear for DLH's health.
Remember what Tito did to Vargas?...... vargas was never the same. Oh and Reid too. oh and Campas too, oh and Carr too.
DLH would never brawl with Tito, this is why he ran like a bitch in the first fight, he felt a Tito punch and was like "hell no Im not gonna let that guy hit me again, it hurts too much." DLH is too smart to brawl with Tito.
I hate how you Puerto Ricans say Tito destoyed Vargas career, did you fucking forget the steroids he took that FU*&*ED HIM UP? Fuc* Frito Trinidad, freaking cheater.
It's ok to come to terms with it, not only Puerto Ricans say it. If I remember correctly, when Vargas fought Castillejo, Emmanuel Steward said, "Vargas has never been the same since he decided to go blow for blow with Tito Trinidad".
Tito fucked up your boy, Steriods does not fuck up a career but one of the greatest Welterweight punchers in the history of boxing sure can.

Vargas took the worst kind of beating against Trinidad.
He was blasted, badly, early in the fight. He took tremendous punishment as the later rounds came. He was then brutally bashed for a KO stoppage in the last round. It really doesn't get worse than that.
What you dumb-ass Mexicans & Ricans need to do, is compromise.
Admit...
* P.R Tito, ruined Mexican Vargas.
* Mexican JC Chavez, ruined P.R. Edwin Rosario.
Your lack of objectivity has you all looking like a bunch of idiots. Always has.
I agree with you. Tito also fucked up Yory boy Campas
do you honestly think lets say...25 days, is enough to prepare to fight top level opposition after just having a fight? And regardless, why is it that Cotto never opted for a rematch? I guess i cant really blame him, because its really the promoters who make those desicions for him.
But when have you seen a fighter take a fight after 1 month's rest. Lets say he had that last fight august 5th, he took about 2 weeks off or 1 week off and decided to be the stand in opponent on september 3rd, do you honestly think anyones gonna be in the best ring shape with that short of a layoff? Come on.
his August fight was a blow out, Torres had at least 4 weeks to prepare for the Cotto fight, and he did not need a significant amount of rest after the 3 round fight that he had in August.
If Torres had been in shape, Cotto would have been knocked out, i personally lost some of the liking i had for cotto after than fight, because he was really exposed in my opinion, yea he pulled it out, but the guy was clearly breathing hard and out of shape.
Torres was in shape, he had a one sided fight 1 month before the Cotto fight, and that is about the time when he found out he was fighting Cotto. Thereofore he was prepared and in shape.
Saying he wasn't in shape is BS, Torres was murdered to the body, anyone would gas out with those hellacious body shots.
If that is the case, why is it that they talked so much on the internet as well as during the telecast that the fight was taken on short notice, and that he only had about 2 weeks to prepare? Infact, we only heard about him being the replacement opponent about 2 weeks before he was announced to fight him, not a month.
Cotto/Torres was officially announced on the 4th of sept 2005 which is 20 days before the fight. In addition to those 3 weeks, do you think that Torres didn't know about the fight before they annouced it?
Tarver has already dropped the weight, and at this point that is a good sign. I read somewhere that about 2 weeks ago, he did a mock weigh-in and weighed 172.
The night of the fight, Tarver will weigh about 185, Hopkins has never faced a man that big. The only world class fighters that Hopkins beat were acutally true Welters. Hopkins is smaller, less power, will be slower, and more stationary.
Quit being a biased Puerto Rican nuthugger.
How does this thread imply that I am a puerto rican nuthugger? The Mexican Chavez demolished the Puerto Rican Macho, as The puerto Rican Cotto will demolish the Italian Paulie.
My justifications deal with technicality, not biasedness.
