I think a lot of people got to see that not all of these undefeated guys who fight in their own countries are bums with torres. Kid has great handspeed and punching power. He's a very dynamic puncher too...throws from a lot of crazy angles.
I would have loved that Lazcano/Torres matchup....too good to be true I suppose.
do you honestly think lets say...25 days, is enough to prepare to fight top level opposition after just having a fight? And regardless, why is it that Cotto never opted for a rematch? I guess i cant really blame him, because its really the promoters who make those desicions for him.
But when have you seen a fighter take a fight after 1 month's rest. Lets say he had that last fight august 5th, he took about 2 weeks off or 1 week off and decided to be the stand in opponent on september 3rd, do you honestly think anyones gonna be in the best ring shape with that short of a layoff? Come on.
his August fight was a blow out, Torres had at least 4 weeks to prepare for the Cotto fight, and he did not need a significant amount of rest after the 3 round fight that he had in August.
Cotto/Torres was officially announced on the 4th of sept 2005 which is 20 days before the fight. In addition to those 3 weeks, do you think that Torres didn't know about the fight before they annouced it?

If that is the case, why is it that they talked so much on the internet as well as during the telecast that the fight was taken on short notice, and that he only had about 2 weeks to prepare? Infact, we only heard about him being the replacement opponent about 2 weeks before he was announced to fight him, not a month.

Torres was in shape, he had a one sided fight 1 month before the Cotto fight, and that is about the time when he found out he was fighting Cotto. Thereofore he was prepared and in shape.
Saying he wasn't in shape is BS, Torres was murdered to the body, anyone would gas out with those hellacious body shots.

If Torres had been in shape, Cotto would have been knocked out, i personally lost some of the liking i had for cotto after than fight, because he was really exposed in my opinion, yea he pulled it out, but the guy was clearly breathing hard and out of shape.

Torres has fast hands and power and would be a test for anybody in the division.I agree with the poster that said that Torres should fight Maussa.I think that would be an excellent matchup and a good fight.
Torres vs Corley was also mentioned, and i think Torres v Harris would be a good one too.
exactly...if Torres can do that imagine what Castillo or even worse Hatton or PBF would do to this sugar cane wrangler
Im serious Paulie gonna clown him in June and I'll be at the fight.
BWAAAHAHAHAHAHA :D

Torres exposed another hype job.

I also became a huge fan of him with the Cotto fight, he can punch and has good hand speed, he'll make a lot of noise at 140. Torres has a hand injury, his trainer said he's supposed to be out for a long period of time
I think Torres' hand is better. He was gonna fight Lazcano but Lazcano injured his hand or finger or something. I wouldnt mind seeing the Bruseles-Torres fight being rescheduled, but Bruseles is scheduled to fight Cesar Bazan soon and i dunno if that can happen. Torres needs to fight somebody soon.
Torres made me a big fan in that fight too. Now he just needs to get his ass in that ring with some good fighters, I hope he doesnt go back to Colombia and fight bums. Or I wouldnt mind seeing Torres vs Maussa or Torres vs Urango.
