a lot of people aren't understanding how the thread is supposed to work..
Yeah...not all of them are gonna be winners. Just trying to have fun with it.
Just a bit of ago, Calzaghe said he'd go back down to 168 after Hopkins to fight Pavlik. What changed his mind not to do that?
True. If he fought at 168 about a year ago he could probably do it right now. My guess is it's a mixture of star power and perfect timing as far as the go ahead to fight jones. The fight never happened back when Roy was Mr. Unbeatable.
If Everyone fought the same boxing would be boring as fuck.......
Its like people not appreciating the 3 pointer or the mid range jumper........
and just screaming for two hand dunks which are still worth two points.....
That's a very good point. one of the most interesting things about boxing is the vast differences in style with some matchups and how an individual's tactics play out when the bell rings. If all we got was "ding ding, SMASH! POW! lights out!" it wouldn't be boxing...it would simply be a fight. How can people shit on talent, diversity, and strategy?
What....you think people don't like violence? There are some folks who watch boxing or mma stuff partly because they enjoy seeing people get beat up. So yeah...I suppose when a dude like Miranda or Gatti eats fist yeah they're "giving the fans what they want" whether they want to or not. I highly doubt any boxer really wants to be on the receiving end of a severe pugilistic fustigation.
This sounds like it would make sense from a financial point of view...but would he really get any recognition if he beat vargas at this point? Besides this thread/slight murmers Vargas doesn't really factor into the supper middleweight equation. I figured Kessler's motivation was to bounce back from the Zaggy defeat and get back to the top of the division. Would this be step towards that really?
I guess his management are on the lookout for an opponent. All he bigger names have dates, but Kessler wants to fight in the US next so they have to check who's available.
Kessler is mandated to defend his title within 120 days against Danilo Haussler (talk about a shot fighter :duh: ) and Kessler's management has said that they wont stage such a mismatch fearing that boxing will get banned in Denmark. So title or no title: Kessler wants to cross the pond.
Oh I get what you're saying. I guess it does make sense for his management to try get his name out there a little more in the meantime to possibly set up future bouts. Better than not fighting...and probably better than making a fight that would get your profession banned.
I agree with Mclovin. Tito doesn't seem to have any real drive to compete anymore. The fight with Jones Jr is evidence of that. It looked like after a couple rounds Roy could have stopped him if he let his hands go more. There was more of a motivation to put on a good showfor a much hyped, very expensive fight rather then make it look completely pointless.
Tommy Hearns is one of my favorites to watch but there are so many great fighters out there it's kind of hard to place him in the top 5 of all time in relatively limited opinion better chin or not. Maybe one of the top 5 greatest of the 80's?
Cotto had to take peanuts just to beat on magerito he has to take far less then other fighters like mayweather, mosely etc. have got of arum.
Cotto toook long to sign because he wasnt gettin paid enough then he looked at magerito's face and thought "SCREW IT im gna change this mexicans face for life" basically hes taking peanuts to beat on a mexican.
Hes gna make magerito look like a magerito pizza R.I.P magerito.
Its gd to see cotto doesnt care that much about mayweather because if it was mayweather he would of asked for more money or no fight but instead hes just signed to beat this guy down.
What's with the magerito stuff? Is that some sort of pun or slight?

Yeah not the most effective technique in boxing...seriously though thanks for posting this video. Seriously hilarious stuff.
he could of made 10mil fighting a bum on his defence but he decided to fight magerito who isnt even ranked in the wba because magerito pizza is runin his mouth.
Ok man seriously not meaning to pick on you or beef or nothing but I'm stumped by the whole "magerito/pizza" angle...so again I must ask out of curiosity: What's with that? he's gonna make his face round, cheesy, and delicious? In what way will dude's face look like a margherita pizza after the fight?
Our main mang Charlie hasn't even proven he can compete. Atleast mullet man was slapping up a storm and doing an exceptional job of blocking punches with his face.
you mean hartley showed a lot of heart...
im actually impressed by andrew's amount of heart...
he's been beaten and knockedout so many times but he still just keeps coming back for more.
thats heart there...
we talk about guys making millions a year having heart but look at someone like andrew who isnt making hardly anything by fighting but yet keeps coming back for more.
charlie is kind of a bitch...he gets hit with one punch and tries to buy time by spitting out his mouthpiece...
he gets hit again...and spits out the mouthpiece again...
and then the fight gets stopped.
way to go charlie.
He got hit with Thunder Strike. You sure you wouldn't spit out your mouth piece?
I'm gonna go ahead and say no. Sure, large marge seems kinda slow with his punches and all that but the thing that makes me say no is the fight with Mosely. I hear a good few people use the term "washed up" in reference to Sugar Shane and if he can noticeably affect cotto by applying pressure like he did in the later rounds of the fight it could be very telling of how one spoils Cotto's gameplan in future bouts...not that I'm comparing Margarito to Shane in style...I still think the point stands.
If you think Mayweather can KO/TKO De La Hoya when nobody but Hopkins has been able to accomplish this you are crazy.. (I might also add that in the Hopkins fight where he was greatly over sized many seem to think he gave up.)
Right on that's pretty much what I was going to say. It took a fight against a much larger elite level boxer to get de la hoya on the canvas so to me the floyd knockout isn't very likely. Besides the hatton fight I don't think he has too many ko's at 147.
I'm gonna have to disagree with Roger Mayweather; Calzaghe slaps like a man and like it or not, the zag has more slappin' to do...he better clam up or it's five across the eyes!
In all seriousness though I respect Zaggy's accomplishments and wish him luck in slapping the shit out of the light-heavies.
