Why does this thread exist when there is already a Froch Groves II thread? Anyway I'm just gonna repost here what I put in that one cos its what I believe and I don't feel the need find a new angle of thinking on the matter. Where are all the Groves Nut-Huggers now? The guy looked like a mentally challenged 12 year old at times in that face off. See what he did every time Carl outwitted him? He just sat there speechless staring at him looking like Sloth from The Goonies. He was having a meltdown at times and couldn't even answer simple questions, he totally lost the plot and found it extremely difficult to keep his composure. Thats the difference between youth and experience, Groves got too c*cky and underestimated Froch's ability to regroup and bring a new approach to this whole rivalry. Any of you morons still think Froch is rattled? STFU. I don't think Groves has a hope in hell of winning the rematch. If something goes wrong for him he doesn't know how to react and crumbles. Cant wait to see his face when he loses.....its gonna be epic. Oh and talk about being delusional. Carl was right about that 6th round. It was definitely the turning point of the fight, Carl catches George with a left with 38 seconds remaining that rocked him, slows him right down and causes him to lose the snap in his punches. Why can't George admit this? His over confidence and unwillingness to give credit where its due is gonna bite him in the ass

That fight went exactly how I called it. A focused Carl with a professional attitude was always gong to destroy George in this fight....all he had to do was wait till Groves slowed down then throw bombs at him. Groves talked so much sh*t about his "success" in the first fight. He was certainly the better boxer but Carl got stronger as the fight went on while he got weaker and slowed down. It happened again in the rematch and he got flattened. I think its safe to say that in the 9th round of the first fight George was absolutely saved from getting KTFO. No doubt about it now.

Still some of you guys actually believe Groves got the better of this face-off? How old are you guys? 12 years old? Groves looked like a child talking to men in that interview. Anyone who can't see that must be age-challenged in one way or another.

This has pissed me right off. I'm a Calzaghe fan as much as I'm a Froch fan but Joe needs to STFU and show some respect for Carls achievements. Joe could only dream of having the fight record against (in prime)elite opposition on the world stage that Carl has. Yes Joe you went unbeaten in your run but you did not face a prime Roy Jones Jr who probably would have whooped your ass the same way he whooped everybody elses ass back in his prime. Carl on the other hand has fought everyone who is anybody and he continues to do so . Please Joe shut up and accept that at the end of the day Carls achievements are greater than yours. Yes Joe, you would have beaten Froch especially early on in his career but you did not give him the opportunity to fight you when he called you out. Carl on the other hand gave the next best British fighter in his era(Groves) the chance for his titles and boy did he have to work hard to keep them. Sorry Joe but IMO Carls legacy is greater than yours

shouldn't Groves have a better idea what its going to be like facing Froch again then Benn does considering it was Groves himself who has actually just fought Froch in his last fight? Round 6, 38 seconds remaining in the round Froch catches Groves with a left that saps him off his stamina and the snap from his punches. George just went downhill after that. Its pretty obvious that unless George hurts Carl early again he is getting stopped in this rematch. I feel sorry for the blind Groves nut-huggers who can't see this. George is great, very slick, very fast.....but once Carl got his legs back under him and they both stood toe to toe throwing bombs George is the one who couldn't handle the heat.

Too many Americans getting butthurt that the English have taken the spotlight away from them as far as world boxing interest is concerned right now. Can't you guys give us Brits at least a little credit for this period in world boxing where we are actually doing ok? This is such an interesting topic because its very subjective. IMO Carls achievements in the sport are greater than Joes because he has faced the current best in the world on a far more consistent basis. Calzaghe really should have been fighting a prime Roy Jones, prime Bernard Hopkins and many more elite fighters in his era that he didn't come up against. Also here's something that I find interesting. There are a lot of similarities between the Froch/Groves dynamic and the Calzaghe/Froch dynamic.....when Froch was the young upstart to Calzaghe, Calzaghe did not give Froch the chance to fight him and Froch pretty much had to make a name for himself in the sport on his own. Compare that to Froch/Groves and here we are with a fantastic first fight done and now we have the biggest fight in British boxing history right around the corner. So my point is not only did Calzaghe not test himself against the best fighters of his era in their prime but he also did not test himself against the best up and coming British fighter at that time in Carl Froch. Its ironic really because I have no doubt that Calzaghe would have been way too slick for Froch(especially early on in Froch's career). Prime Froch vs Prime Calzaghe is a tough one. Calzaghe is without a doubt the clear favourite to win because of his boxing brilliance but if Froch caught him with a good shot he might have been the first guy to get the job done against him. Carls career is far more impressive than Joes though at the end of the day. That's the way I see it. So yes. Carl is already greater than Joe and beating George again will simply add to the legacy. its not guaranteed Carl will win. Getting the win in this extremely close rematch just shows how much of a bad ass he really is.

Joe and Enzo are doing their best to discredit Carl right now because they know that public opinion globally as well as in the UK is that Froch has surpassed Calzaghe in terms of legacy and fight record against in prime elite fighters of their relative eras. This is actually quite a tough one because their fighting styles are completely different as are the respective personalities they brought outside and inside the ring. The only thing they do have in common is that they are Muslim. The thing about Naz is that he was the ultimate showman. People either loved him or hated him but either way they all were excited to see him fight. Very awkward, fast, big risk taker, would throw power shots from the weirdest angles, talked a lot....had an ego bigger than anyone, Great fighter. Amirs personality is completely different and in many ways it feels as if his full potential hasn't been reached yet. Very strong looking fighter, super super fast and can land heavy in many angles, dangerous fighter for anybody he comes up against though admittedly looked way out of his depth earlier in his career against Prescot. As of now Naz is obviously the higher ranked of the two IMO but Amir could still well go on a run of dominating top fighters(in a weight class that is stacked with top quality opposition) if he just manages to keep that chin protected. I like Amir. I remember when he was Britains only representative in the Athens olympics for boxing at 17 years of age and he came back with a silver medal. he's a good lad and I wish him well

Mayweather is everything that is wrong with boxing IMO. No fighter should ever become bigger than boxing and the same goes for any professional athlete in their given sport. Imagine Federer deciding he doesn't want to play against Nadal, Tiger Woods declining Phil Mickelson, Real Madrid saying no to Barcelona, Usain Bolt not racing Tyson Gay, Jon Jones avoiding Alexander Gustafsson or any top sportsman in any elite sport not coming up against opponents who rightfully deserve a shot at a title. Its a complete joke that a guy who is the number one can dictate who he comes up against especially when their is a clear number one contender who is absolutely ready and able to take the fight to him in the ring. The rule should be simple....fight the guy who is seen as the best contender or give up the belt. Pacquaio was without a doubt the only guy Floyd should have fought a few years back and no fighter should ever have the power to turn down such a fight (Making false accusations about drugs cheating should get laughed at by the governing body and they should force you to fight if you don't have any proof which Floyd didn't and does not). Imagine going to the olympics and deciding you don't want to compete against someone....Mayweather is a coward and a complete joke.(yeah I respect his victories against the people he has fought but he did not take the fight that mattered the most) Fight the best if you wanna be seen as the best. Simple. Pacquiao of a few years back Kicks Floyds ass and Floyd knows it. That's why the fight never hapened.

There was without a doubt a period where Pacquiao looked absolutely indestructible and IMO Floyd was definately too scared to fight him and thats why the fight never happened. Instead he accused the Pacman of being a drugs cheat without a shred of evidence and he just kept going out of his way to make rule after rule that he wanted Manny to abide by which was all just a play to make sure the fight never happened. Anybody can get beat in pro combat sports just like Manny did against Marquez and I'm pretty convinced that had Floyd fought Manny in the period I spoke about above then he too would have had his unbeaten record taken away from him. If the fight happens now(and the clock is still ticking over in the mean time) it just won't be the same though its certainly still possible Manny could win but I think Floyd robbed us of what would have been one of the greatest fights in history if he wasn't such a coward and decided to face the prime Pacquiao of a few years back. The truth is that when Floyd was faced with what would have been the biggest test in his career he turned into a coward and he's gonna have to live with that and the questions people ask him about it for the rest of his life.

Brian Magee at York Hall was the last time Froch knocked anyone clean out. He won't be knocking anyone clean out again, if he wins it's be pressure and accumulation. If anyone gets knocked clean out it will be Froch. Fair point. What I meant to say is that he will absolutely end up battering Georges head against the ropes just like he did Taylor and Bute and the only reason Groves wont be getting knocked clean out is because the ref will step in and save him.

Considering the first fight, I don't think it's out of the question that Froch could get stopped. How come Groves couldn't finish Froch off? Groves landed that right hand a million times after knocking Froch down but couldn't put him away. It seems reasonable to say that the only reason Groves dropped Froch is because Froch walked into the right hand. He did not get dropped by any more right hands because he did not walk into them. I think Groves is in big trouble next time around

Froch wins. That knockdown against the cobra took a lot out of him, and took him many rounds to recover. Groves, despite hitting him with everything, could not get Froch out of there. Froch won't walk straight into one of Groves's big shots this time. He stalks him down and takes him out late. Absolutely spot on. Groves and his bunch of merry fans are getting way ahead of themselves. I really cant understand Groves' confidence. I mean he flattened Froch when Froch walked into the punch, hit him a million more times in the same spot afterwards yet couldn't finish him....so what has he really got to be confident about? Yes he is faster, slicker, sharper than Froch but he could not put a wobbled Froch away and he wont be able to do it in the rematch unless Froch marches into the shot. Its a 12 round fight. Groves is gonna tee-off on Froch early on but the damage will be minimal. Groves's failed attempts to KO Froch early on will cost him dearly once he slows down again which he will and then its gonna be a replay of Froch vs Taylor/Bute. I wonder how quickly the ref will step in and save Groves from getting his lights put out as his head is ragdolling against the ropes.

Froch wasted time in the first fight trying to box on the outside and then he got clocked and put down. It wasn't until he started coming forward throwing the kitchen sink at groves that he started to hurt him. I expect in this one froch will just head down and steam forward as soon as the first bell rings, if he can get groves with some of those wild attacks early, whilst avoiding the counter he took in the first fight, then he can win. Most of the times Froch got hit hard in the first fight, you watch it and he's standing there trying to shoot a jab and getting countered, when he just throws it out and comes forward throwing bombs he doesn't actually get hit as much. I'd advise him to not bother with boxing at all in this one, just make it a street fight from the opening bell That's risky though. If Froch walks in full steam again then Groves is gonna drop him again cos Groves' timing is superb. I would say that its possible for Froch to finish Groves early by brawling straight out of the box but he would be wise to cover up, smother, dirty box then lauch a barrage of bombs...rinse and repeat. Groves' only chance to win this rematch is if Carl launches in throwing bombs with his guard down like he did last time.

Watched a portion of it on sky sports news. Groves started off and is absolutely milking his role as the ****y arrogant little sh*t who thinks he is indestructible but Froch did not take the bait. Froch spoke about family and how important it is to him and he spoke about being proud to fight in such a big event. Froch1 Groves0 A focused Froch who can keep control of his emotions is knocking Groves clean out in the rematch.

I mean as egotistical as Froch is he is at least giving Groves respect for a great performance against him in the first fight but Groves is giving Froch zero. You just missed Carl shoving Groves on the pitch side photo call. Refusing to make eye contact and making gestures about Groves's bad breath is hardly self control either. He's nervous. He should be. Yeah he shouldn't have pushed him and should have just laughed at George whispering in his ear but tbh I don't think I would have kept my cool either. If Froch wins the rematch convincingly (which he has a good chance of doing if things go his way on the night) then watch the fickle, disloyal and down right ungrateful British public start to get behind him again as He begins to make plans for a showdown or two in the bright lights of Vegas before he retires. How much humble pie will there be? I can not believe how many people are betting against him to win the rematch. He is for sure the favourite and the outcome of the fight is gonna be dictated entirely on how turns up on the night. A patient Froch will let Groves do all the heavy work early and wear himself out in his failed attempts to KO him. Once Groves loses that extra step he is getting mauled in there and there is nothing he can do to stop it. Even the bookmakers have Froch as the favourite so that really tells its own story.

This is very very clever by Ward. He is basically forcing Froch's hand and making him take the rematch with Groves......but why? Either he just wants Groves to whip Froch or he actually sees Froch as a serious threat so wants a way to take him out of the game. Personally I think he knows how dangerous Froch is and wants to take him out of the game (even though he did beat him comfortably last time round....couldn't hurt him though). Groves has proven that he possibly has the capacity to beat Froch but IMO he failed to look strong in the championship rounds and it cost him dearly. I have no problem with the rematch but I'm sick to death of the amount of "fans" who wont admit that Groves was in deep trouble in the ninth round.
