Kavaliauskas would have been a better name for Bootsy's 30th fight. But he'd rather fight a guy named Custio Clayton. Vergil sought Kava because it's an established name by that time. Bud took Kava's zero, and it's Crawford's 2nd fight at 147. And here was Ennis a career welterweight didn't have interest in such name.
He's a career welterweight yet he had no interest in getting his feet wet with at least the outgoing, but established ones starting from his 30th fight. Others weren't so lucky to have the same management, thus risked and lost their zeros early and never got to get the money fights they wanted.
It's always been about maintaining the zero for Bozy and Bootsie Ennis. It really didn't matter whether their victim is a total nobody. Normally, most up and coming stars would go after the "veterans," the semi-retired, the outgoing stars or established names in the division. The Ennis father and son never thought of approaching any one of them. They hid themselves in the dark. There were tons to choose from, Guerrero, Berto, Alexander, even names like Collazo, Josesito, Ortiz, Kavliauskas, Khan, Brook, etc.
Jaron "Boots" Ennis' case with Benn was hilarious when even diminutive Shakur Stevenson wants a piece of that meat, "I can't believe how small he is!" There's Ryan Garcia who also has no problem facing Benn. Bozy Ennis couldn't even talk properly when he was asked about Benn for his boy Boots.
That was hard to watch. Bozy was making all kinds of excuses at a time when they were suing their former management claiming they're supposed to be getting four fights a year.
Could've announced himself had he accepted Buds offer, but he ducked it. Could've announced himself when Turki offered the Ortiz fight, but he ducked that too. Nearly 30 with no notable opps on his resume and is fighting some young inexperienced title holder next isnt announcing himself. Boots is heavily favored lol
He certainly ducked Ortiz big time. You give him inexperienced Zayas and he'll say, "Hell yeah!" These are the types of fights he wants. 36 fights and his only notable win is Stanionis for a title. It's either a title fight plus money he'll accept or a cab driver. He didn't look at Kavaliauskas, Benn, even Teo.
He made some good money so now he is just hanging out with his family, if he doesn't pull a Broner he might not ever come back.
He made some money, but it's just not enough especially if you have kids to send to school and still have left for your old age. Canelo already made the same amount of money decades ago, yet he's still fighting.
After his cash-out fight with Canelo he quietly slipped into an unofficial retirement. He didn't want any part of Crawford who was breathing down his neck and he had already ducked the Tszyu fight which in hindsight he probably could have won. I don't think he wanted anything to do with Fundora or Thurman either seeing how he struggled with Castano. He was never a top tier fighter.
We will never know how these matchups would have played had they happened for Jermell. But where do you think this kind of ducking behavior stems from?
Whoever started this mental illness excuse for this Charlo must really be a total fanboy. And Charlo ran with it. Which is clearly a pattern for the Charlo boys. Is the other Charlo suffering from the same disease fact that he's been out of the ring for years? What's the excuse for that one?
doesnt everyone need huge lucrative fights, why would these 2 lemons i mean lions deserve them any more than anyone else?
They need lucrative fights if they want to come back. Nobody says they deserve lucrative fights.
So have the Charlos retired? Doesn't make sense asking for tuneups at this late stage of their careers getting paid peanuts. Granting they get their tuneup fights, then what? Spend another year for the next fight?
I don't know man. They're certainly not getting any younger. They need huge lucrative fights at this stage of their careers. Tuneups are a waste of time. The paycheck is not even enough to cover training expenses. Just imagine all that effort doing all that training with zero net income. Then what? Wait for another year?
Real fighters don't have that kind of mindset. They think in terms of winning, being crafty, tricky, able to inflict damage, etc.
Otherwise, you don't belong in the sport with that kind of mentality. Go get a regular job and don't even think of contact sports as a profession.
Exactly. You don't blame things that's been part of human behavior since time immemorial. You''ve seen it in Gladiator movies.
You lose, and some in the audience would cheer because they rooted for it to happen. If you can't take it, then boxing is not for you. Simple as that. People didn't force you to be in this profession. You did.
Being "rich" is a relative, subjective term. Canelo got prime real estate properties in Mexico and America, and can retire without having to box again. Yet he's still fighting.
The Charlos barely scratched the surface in accumulating wealth out of their boxing profession. They have kids to feed, send to school till they become independent. Not to mention the money they need in their old age. Needs are unlimited. Resources are not.
I don't want to see Crawford again. He is rich already. That's what his main purpose in fighting the Mexican superstar. Monnneeeeyyy.
And he fought running around careful not to get touch. That's not entertainment to me. That's watching a guy getting rewarded $$$$$$$$$ doing very little. I don't want to see that nonsense again. It's a rip off.
Enthusiasm is lacking in this fight.
It's a legit non-biased, agenda-less thread, yet only few are contributing. Where are the pro, anti Ennis fans, the outspoken ones, or at least others in the middle?
Stanionis is the underdog, imho, so I predict Ennis' hand being raised because he's more skilled. There you go. No agenda.
Yeah man. That's why this sport not only needs new breed of fighters but new breed of fans. Not fans who can't move past May/Pac arguments saying the same lines we have heard millions of times already. As if they're saying something new.
Why is he fighting Cuevas? He's #13 in the WBO rankings, so it can't be a mandatory, right? If that's a voluntary, it's a weird one. If he got avoided by Ennis, at least chase a unification with Barrios, or get the mandatory out of the way.
Derrieck Cuevas says Brian Norman TRIED TO CHERRYPICK him to DUCK Jaron Ennis, but made BIG MISTAKE.
Is this a Top Rank card ???
I’m assuming that
Indeed...

My guess is Hearn is trying to find a way in convincing him to fight Conor Benn.
I'll be very surprised if he says yes to Conor Benn for his next fight.
Only in boxing where there is no consensus even when there is video to prove something.
One thing is sure, in my opinion. Morrell don't want this fight no more.
