Did Morrell caught him with a knockdown or did Benavidez trip?

I watched it live in person and I was fairly confident it was a cupping shot with a bit of a trip up that shouldn't have been called a knockdown. How full was the arena? Rafael said the crowd was 12,000 yet the capacity is 20,000?

They must have been "hoping" it was a knock down because judging by the video replay it's absolutely clear that it was NOT a knockdown. Many people on here seem to be trying everything in their power to act like this was a close fight, when in fact Morrel took a beating. Benavidez clearly won but i think Morrell gave a good effort. Maybe him vs Yarde or Buatsi/Smith winner would be a good next step. He doesn't have much pro experience he can improve

Benavidez definitely tripped over Morrell's right foot before touching the canvas. The referee definitely blew that call. However, it wasn't all that bad. It's because the referee compensated for his lapse in judgement by giving Morrell a single point deduction; For hitting Benny after the bell which canceled the knockdown out.

Morrell grazed him as Benavidez was off balance. Benny's gloves touched the canvas so technically it was fair to score a kd - - Except that truth is it was a missed call by the ref because it was a trip. Not a big deal in that Bena was always gonna win, and if they rematch Bena prob KOs him.

After leaving the arena I looked it up and it confirmed what I what I thought. Hooked around his shoulder and the feet got tripped over. All in all Morrell is very durable and has speed and good snap on his shots, he had fight in him the whole time and looked dangerous for all rounds even though it was in spurts. Morrell took a lot of punishment throughout the whole fight so I give him major props.

it doesnt matter what we think. the nevada commission ruled it a KD by enforcing replay in the subsequent round. unfortunately replay was not used to confirm that benavidez also hit after the bell, but only morrell was penalized. and those arent "my cards" they are the 2 of the 3 official cards. he should have been warned since both hit after the bell. if he keeps that point, its 115-112 and maybe if in his mind, he got to go iinto the 12 thinking he made up points, the 12 is different. 115-112 without the bogus deduction, 114-113 if morrell wins round 12. your card is the outlier, over there with tim cheatem. He tried to start the last round fast and strong but Benevides quickly turned things around and shut down Morel, who had to go defensive. The last round was a very clear round for Benevides.

On replaying it after the fact, you can clearly see it only connected to Benevides' arm. Instant replay needs to be enforced in the future. Fortunately Benevides didn't even have to worry about the ref making the wrong call on the knock down because he thoroughly whooped Morrel. That fight wasn't even close. It was one-sided. That replay looks pretty clear. They said on broadcast that the commission watched the instant replay and said it was a KD, but it doesn't look like it in slow-mo for sure. ​​​​​
