One thing could be that more action is expected in this fight compared to the Stevenson/Santos snooze fest, at least on paper.
Another thing is it could be competitive. Or maybe not and it might finally put an end to the overrating of Santos' spectacular dismantling of Valenzuela years ago. Which no doubt is what put Santos on the map.
What else?
It just confirms Martin did duck EDLS. Why else is he playing up the risk of fighting De Los Santos?
Absolutely.
Boxing is not like any other sport where one is left standing. Martin and Delos Santos had their respective breakout moments beating Rivera and Valenzuela. You'd think they'll eventually meet in the ring at some point, never mind that they're in the same division, but both are with PBC. And as usual in this sport, fight never materialized.
The fun thing about DLS is that he has the explosive ability to match any of the top guys. OK the fight with Shakur he couldn't show much, but it still feels like he could have upside in any given performance.
Davis is not going to run, and he DLS fight more so let's see how bad he wants it. DLS should be able to do more, and Davis the same. It's a damn nice matchup
My heart is with DLS but he has been sick and inactive for too long so I think Davis will take it and is fighting DLS at the right time, when he is not in his peak.
Keyshawn Davis TKO/KO in round 7-8. De Los Santos might surprise him with his physical prowess. Quite more so than Albright did who put him on problems, but considering his inactivity coming off medical issues like blood clots, and the fact that he does have the tendency to get reckless when he believes he has the upperhand.
It makes me think Davis will counter him and then be the one pressuring for the finish like he did with a bloated Gustavo Lemos. BUT then again, dimension wise, De Los Santos is quite much longer than Lemos, and is a southpaw, which Keyshawn hasn't faced at the top level so far. Wouldn't be shocked if there was a upset.
Yeah, Martin and Wahid wanted no part of Delos Santos. Frank picked totally unknown Harutyunyan and ignored Santos who was also available at that time and just had a good win with Rayo.
Frank also said Keyshawn is not ready for this (EDLS) fight.

What else did Martin say? Is he not giving any credit to KDavis for fighting DeLos Santos, who Frank and Tank ducked? Fact that DeLos Santos, who is a PBC fighter, has to take fights outside of PBC should tell you something. His big win against Valenzuela at PBC didn't amount to anything in the house.

Frank Martin says Keyshawn Davis is not beating Delos Santos.

I think Edwin is the dark horse in the division. Great power, speed and overall boxing skills. There is a reason Shakur refused to engage him all night and faked a hand injury. The only issue is his long lay off otherwise I would be very confident in picking him to win. Everyone is overrating the latest american prospect with 13 fights and best win over a shot opponent.
Davis has a very solid resume for a guy with 15 fights (1 win was overturned because he tested positive for weed). He took the belt off Berinchyk, he beat old man Pedraza, he obliterated Lemos right after Lemo got robbed against Richardson Hitchins, and he beat several veteran world level contenders like Burgos, Yigit, Patera, and Madueno.

Fight is probably more about De Los Santos than Davis. DLS was unable to repeat his entertaining performance with Rayo in his last two fights with Adorno and Stevenson. Davis could be a stylistic nightmare for him. But of course, anything can happen. This is a good scrap for the weekend nonetheless.
