I'm gonna bet Khan by decision. That way, if he wins, I win money. And if he loses, it's OK, because I got to see Khan get knocked out again.
It's win/win, really.
Earlier in this thread, I differentiated between Floyd's deft defense & offense against Guerrero, and his blatant running, grabbing, holding and pot-shotting against Maidana. I also posted highlight videos of both fights. I give credit where I feel it's due, and likewise for discredit.
Yeah I wasn't talking about you in particular. I just meant in general.
So what do you say johnm....Mayweather's tactics of late...Good shit...or....Bad shit?
If I'm being honest, I haven't paid too much attention to Mayweather since he retired.
I did see the Broner shenanigans. I don't really have an opinion one way or another on that, though.
I'm talking about his later fights, particularly his running, grabbing, holding & pot-shotting against Maidana. You're right though, he's retired. Not sure why he endures on this site. Maybe it's the mystique about him retiring undefeated & the suspicion of some that he'll return to break Marciano's record, despite his claims to the contrary.
You know, as far as that stuff goes, I just feel like if you don't like it, don't watch it. Say what you will, but it's impressive to me, to watch him completely nullify a persons offense. I mean even when he stands in front of you, stands in the pocket, on the ropes, etc. he makes you miss. People just bring up holding and pot shotting because they want to discredit his style, ignoring all the things he does great.
My thing is, if he's so basic and boring. Just a running, pot stotting, little nothing. Why's he so damn hard to beat?
So, you want to penalize Mayweather for taking care of himself and avoiding bad beatings and wars through his skill?
Do you realize you're actually paying homage to the man as a fighter with this and undercutting your own point?
Eeeeexxxxxxxacccctly.
Floyd was so great at boxing that he got criticised for boxing correctly.
Yup. Name one other fighter who has the label of "almost lost" attached to a fight where he got hit with 2 solid shots over the course of 12 rounds, without ever being knocked down, or losing a round.
That's how good the guy is. People are shocked when he.......gets hit.
What did Khan do since losing to Garcia?
Yup. I don't hate Khan. I like watching him fight. But if we're being honest, he's best known for the fights he lost, not the ones he won.
I think it depends on what constitutes "seen as close"
Seen as close on this board? Or seen as close as in the odds. If it's the latter then fights like Broner/Maidana, Pavlik/Hopkins, Margarito/Mosley wouldn't really apply, because the eventual losers were all heavily favored. Which in a way makes it worse, lol.
He schooled Devon Alexander! You know, the same Devin alexander that schooled Maidana who arguably beat Mayweather their first fight.
Khan haters seem to forget this.
Holy triangle theories, Batman!
Yeah I know he beat Alexander. But that's not at all what people think of when they think of Amir Khan.
I said what he's best known for. Not the best thing he's done. He's best known for getting KTFO by guys he was supposed to waste.
Try comprehending what you're reading before tossing that "hater" label around.
Check Hooks was tracking his bets in the fantasy betting forum for a while. He was losing at a pretty substantial clip.
Listen to his videos for his breakdowns if you want. But if you're interested in following his betting advice, I'm interested in being your bookie.
Lmao. The videos I've watched he always talks sense. Opinions. What is your take on him? I've watched about 20 videos the last few months and he validates a lot of what I have been saying online for ages
He always references fights when talking about something, and knows loads about fights and fighters from years ago, which means he is knowledgeable Imo. You think he's not?
It's not that I don't think he's knowledgeable. He clearly understands boxing. He used to be......decent. Anymore he's just as biased as your average NSB poster. He pretty much always looks for a reason to tell you to bet on the black fighter. And his Fury pick doesn't look near as good, when you consider that he always picks against Klitschko.
He likes to pick massive underdogs and then claim victory when he finally strikes one.
From a betting standpoint, he's cringeworthy at best. I've been betting for 15 or so years. And to listen to him just irks me beyond belief.
"Bet ______ by KO. Hedge with ________ straight" - but he NEVER mentions the odds. As if every single fight has a hedging opportunity, when in fact, very few actually provide one that makes any sense, with a chance to profit.
You can't tell someone to bet "so and so" to KO Golovkin, hedged with GGG straight, without mentioning that GGG straight is like -5600 odds.
His fight breakdowns, while sometimes decent, take forever to arrive at the point. His betting advice is god awful. Terrible.
Even match height weight yet he wants to fight the little 5 foot 9 160 pound Glovokin
But he's not. He's fighting Kovalev.
You'll cry about anything, though, right?
Thurman getting ready for future in commentating
But c'mon Floyd fans, this all but seals Mayweather is very careful in WHO and WHEN he fights someone. And he'll advice his fighters the same as well to "not take risks" But hey if it makes you millions still why not??
I'm not so sure. I don't care if he said this to Canelo or not. But do we have any proof other than "Thurman said so" ? Because if this were a video about "Pacquiao said this" or "Triple G said that' y'all would be screaming "we need proof" from the rooftops.
Lol notice how he shrunk Golovkin from 5'10" 1/2 to 5'9" just for his agenda.
Me: "You think Andre Ward is a fan of Seinfeld?"
Boxingscene: "All I know is GGG has watched every episode"
:lol1: :lol1:
On top of that, I'm not sure this is a negative knock on Floyd. If he did say that to Canelo, it doesn't mean anything in terms of Floyd's own career.
Did he say "never fight Triple G, ever, because he'll beat your ass"?
Or was it "let it build, you'll make a hundred million in 2 years" ?
I mean, one of you guys that know Keith Thurman well enough to know that this is 100% fact, get him on the horn. I have questions.
