philstar enough said. aint no one reading that garbage
What exactly are you disputing? The fact that Pac is the betting underdog or the fact that Pac doesn't mind being the underdog?
Canelo is boring. Nobody wants to see Floyd and him fight next yet, outside of the Mexicans maybe. It would be Ortiz II.
Unless Mayweather wants a tuneup fight, there is only one option for him: Pacman.
And to the original poster, Floyd isn't ducking Pac. Sorry...but it's very obvious who is ducking whom. Arum is ducking Mayweather...
PED testing was already a part of Floyd's demands. He didn't bring it up in the middle of negotiations.
I agree. I think Mayweather's team brought it up initially but Arum and Pac's team stalled it out then countered with their ridiculous $10,000,000 dollar per lb over the weight limit and so forth hoping Mayweather would say no, then when Floyd didn't, Arum knew he was cornered then they started their BS.
Didn't they say the same thing 2 years ago......
Yeah, but Mayweather pulled the PED testing card out of his pocket and either Pac was on roids and didn't want to submit, or Arum wasn't ready to have his cashcow get exposed and made the PED testing an issue to get out of the fight.
Now? The time is right, the demand too great, and the money too big to not make the fight.
Plus Floyd saw Manny struggle with a guy he schooled.
"Let's get ready to ruuuuuuuuuuuuuuuumble, *****es!!"
:boxing:
pac is not declining but this what happens when you fight a live oppent that hits back.
No, Pac is obviously declining. He's been beaten down by some big guys and he's not as fast and active. He's now having to rely on his instincts and that is why he has become so predictable and somewhat easy to figure out. He's preyed on weak competition lately, and last night he fought a real champion with a heart and who wasn't looking to cash out.
Mayweather would kill Pacquiao at this stage. A few years ago would have been an interesting fight, but after fighting all of these slow fighters who just stand there, Mayweather would shock Pacquiao and if you think Manny looked scared and confused last night, you'd probably see something a lot more sad against Floyd.
Yeah, and the Megathread is stupid. If anything, they should create a Floyd and Manny Forum and let everyone post their separate threads in there all they want. It's too hard to keep up with all the stories and so forth in one thread.
C'mon braintrust do what I said, it's the best idea regarding Floyd and Manny yet. You can have subcategories in there and all. Big winner for this site.
Expose his ass.
That's what I'm saying. Can't believe he's even gotten away with what he has. I hope Ariza really goes through with this and isn't just blowing off steam only to chicken out at the last minute.
Margarito without loaded wraps hits like a *****. Watch the Cotto II fight and or the Mosley fight and you can see he has nothing.
Victor would tag Margarito who is done. Margarito and Mosley are nothing more than Old Relics brought in for these young kids to beat up on. Give it a break.
i won't be buying it. I hope Golden Boy and Floyd outbid Arum for Cotto to fight Mayweather and make the DUCKS look like bigger cowards than they already do.
This shidt is so old....blah.
Pac beats Lamont and Bradley (though the latter would be a closer fight)
Lamont I think is ordered to fight Khan, and out of respect for Khan, (who badly needs to beat Lamont AGAIN) i dont think Pac takes that fight
Bradley needs a better performance before he's fed to Pac.
Mayweather's not happening.
Cotto would be pointless. It's probably Marquez and Arum is waiting on Floyd to announce his Canelo fight
I agree with all of this...
and because Pacquiao and Arum are clearly ducking Mayweather, I hope it's May and Cotto. This fight will bring the most PPV viewers and money, and it will also lay to rest that Floyd ducked Cotto. Cotto looked good against Margarito, but Floyd will be another story.
Cotto will make his biggest payday against May and without having to give all of his money to Arum, but Floyd is going to take him to school, imo.
The Canelo fight is too soon. Hard sell.
Mayweather has 3 fights left: Cotto, Pacquiao, and perhaps Sergio at 154. Anything other than those would be a joke and hard to sell.
"Manny makes the call"
so, when the announcement is made next week...it's all on Manny.
Is there one naive idiot on this board who really thinks Manny is going to pick Floyd?
I didn't think so...
This is why the sport is in a bad state... not even the hardcore fans pay to see the fights... what a shame
Wrong! People like Dee and myself are glad to pay for a PPV but when Arum keeps lying and phucking the fans over with his manipulative shidt, at that time we don't owe anybody anything. I will not purchase another Top Rank fight until Arum and co. cut their shidt and do what is right.
I've purchased 7 PPV fights since 2007 and 3 of those were Pacquiao fights but I'm done...no mas.
Who gives a phuck if it's on free TV. I've had cable or dish TV for years. I don't even watch the free tv stations. I guess if you're broke or still living with the parents and don't have any control over whether or not you can have HBO, Showtime, or ESPN, this is cool news, but it will be a long while before any of the really good fights are on free tv, and in the meantime, they'll have s hit fights which will only remind non boxing fans why they don't follow the sport to begin with.
Anyway, hate to be a killjoy but I'm just being real.
I don't think the fights gonna sell as well as some think, I think the reason people talk in those threads because Floyds a big draw to talk about anyway and on top of that the fight will be here sooner than Manny's, so people are generally talkin about that more cause its the next big fight.
I doubt floyd vs cotto will outsell manny vs Bradley by much of any, I think after the fight fell through once again people were dissapointed with both matchups.
Wrong. Mayweather/Cotto will outsell Pac on PPV by 300,000-500,000 buys...but we'll never know because Arum doesn't announce Manny's ppv numbers through official sources anymore because they come up short of Mayweather's. Mayweather/Cotto is on the verge of selling out and at higher ticket prices than Manny/Bradley.
Mayweather/Cotto will probably do 1.4-1.5 million buys which will give Mayweather the top 3 non-Heavyweight PPVs of all time. Floyd's not only the P4P King, but he's the PPV King also.
It is what it is..
I'm a Floyd Mayweather fan due to his skill level, undefeated record, and frankly I like the way he conducts his boxing business. Not really a fan of his personal life. But now I get why people want him to lose. Broner is twice as obnoxious as Floyd, imo, and I do find myself rooting against him.
He totally pickpocketed Floyd's schtick.
Damn...and I thought Kobe ripped off MJ. Broner has stolen Floyd's complete identity, and fighting style. I felt like I was watching the Floyd Mayweather Jr. Movie tonight with a actor playing Floyd.
Funny and obnoxious. With that said, the kid has some skills. He and Gamboa will make for a great fight one day.
Because he's not particularly interested in the fight. He's not avoiding it but he's not chasing it either, I think in his mind he's the face of boxing therefore it doesn't matter who he fights next because he thinks he brings the most money, that's why he lets Arum do the match making.
"He's not avoiding it"
BS. He IS avoiding it.
And he's become the disgrace of boxing, not the face of boxing. He's a cheating coward and Arum has feuled his rise by doping him up and feeding him tomato cans with box office draw.
Pathetic.
That would be pointless. When Bradley was matched against Casamayor, Bob Arum boldly said who cares what the fans think. The public putting pressure on Bob Arum wouldn't make a bit of difference. The public aren't good for anything besides lining his greedy pockets. I think after this, Top Rank's PPV buys will take a major hit. Manny Pacquiao's PPV buys will go back to 650-750k because there is no more interest in this guy they've been building up as this fearless fighter, who'll fight anyone and the fighter who'll defeat Floyd. Look at what he did to Margarito. He's gonna kill Floyd...blah blah blah. It worked until they showed they weren't interested in Floyd. They're interested in selling the public a big lie. The public won't buy anymore. The time to fight is now. Either that, or watch the buys take a major dive.
I agree. Top Rank and Manny are almost forced to fight Floyd at this point. It would be the biggest backlash in boxing if they came out and tried to sell the public another BS fight. I wouldn't be surprised if Top Rank read the reaction here or elsewhere last night and or this morning then started to reconsider actually doing the Mayweather fight.
The public has spoken. Now we'll see if Arum and Pacquiao will listen.
It will be Margarito at 160. It's Margarito's last chance for a legit payday and it's a Mexican name Chavez Jr. can add to his resume before he goes after Sergio. Plus it's an inhouse Top Rank Fight. Book it!
A few minutes ago, Pac was interviewed and announced on Philippine channel ABS-CBN that he and Floyd have talked personally over the phone. Both have agreed to a 50-50 split, and the conversation didn't have any problems.
If this fight doesn't push through on May 5, then it's obvious who's holding up this fight.
What? lol...
source? Link?
I grew up in Vegas and if Arum is being sincere, which I completely doubt, then I would say do the stadium and make things fresh and exciting for the average fan who wants to go to the live event instead of the satellite locations at other casinos. I'm sure the stadium would sell out, plus they would probably fill up the satellite locations as well...plus get their 3 million ppv buys.
It would make the event seem even bigger, more money would be made, more fans could see the fight live, and Las Vegas would get even more people to travel to their city to spend money at their casinos and so forth.
The only problem is that Arum is full of **** and he's using this stadium as his excuse...or so it seems. Things have been pretty quiet the last few days and who knows what they are all doing right now. I haven't completely written this fight off for May yet.
I say that and any minute there will probably be some new BS report or excuse as to why this fight isnt going to happen...60, 59, 58, 57, 56, ....
I am not interested or entertained by it. Biased commentary and flat out wrong blow by blow is unprofessional as far as I'm concerned. This is professional boxing and that type of "entertainment" belongs in the WWF.
Well said! I agree.
I'd buy it...but I'd buy any Mayweather fight. I think he's the greatest boxer of this generation and he'll only fight so many more times. WIth that said, I'd prefer he fight in this order:
1. Pac
2. Sergio
3. Cotto
4. Khan after a couple of big wins
5. Canelo after a couple of big wins
Forget Marquez....he's made too much money and has too big of an ego to be on an undercard.
Undercard for Pac/May fight should be:
Rios/Gamboa or Nonaire
Bradley/Khan - both are affordable.
Sergio/Chavez Jr - same thing.
Pac/May
