What I personally think is that Floyd was planning on fighting a Mexican all along. Why else would he reserve the MGM for May 5th if he wasnt fighting a Mexican? A Black vs an Asian on Cinco de mayo hardly makes any sense from a marketing standpoint. A fight between Floyd and Pac will be HUGE on any day. No need to announce a return to the ring on a Mexican Holiday if you were planning on fighting Pacquiao. Can this be the reason why GBP was trying to make a fight with Erik Morales? GBP matchmaker Erik Gomez and Morales himself went on the record to say it was so. Now we have Canelo calling out Floyd for May 5th. Could GBP have put him up to this?
Nobody especially Floyd and his camp were expecting Pac to speak up and demand this fight be made. He along with Roach and Ariza are speaking up and are making it known that this is the fight they want. Its B.A who has a different agenda. For the first time, Pac stated something other than "talk to my promoter" when asked about a potential fight with Floyd during his post fight interview. His response was "Lets Get It On".
There was an interview with Floyd a few days ago. He deflected every question pertaining to a showdown with Pac on May 5th.

Now I'm not saying Floyd definitely doesnt want to fight Pac. All I'm saying is his actions and words say otherwise. When speaking of a potential showdown, he automatically goes into defense mode about how he's the A-side and nobody can make him any offers, and if you're the best take the test. Not once has he himself said that he wants Pac next. The one time he did say it, he later claimed someone put those words in his mouth! LOL.
What's this Morales bs? Do you have trouble comprehending simple English? Morales simply said he would be up for the challenge (who wouldn't for their biggest payday of their lives?). There hasn't been any negotiations with Morales. If he wants a Mexican fighter he'd pick Canelo. Mayweather then said he wasn't fighting Morales, black and white he said no.
If Pac falls through then Mayweather has another big fight to fall on. I bet you think he has Spadafora lined up too?
Trust me...I wish this is the case. All I'm saying is, his actions and words say otherwise. Whenever asked about Pacquaio, he turns angry and defensive. Did u even read the interview? Who knows, maybe he asked for the biggest fight knowing he had no intentions of negotiating in good faith, then claiming he called Pac out.
Yes, Floyd gets irritated whenever he's asked about Pacquiao. Anyone with half a brain will come to a conclusion that it is not Pac Mayweather is eying on on May 5. Floyd would rather fight anyone but Pacquiao and he wants to prove that he can make millions without Pac.
Alvarez had played his part of the script in the plan GBP and Floyd have been hatching. This is similar to the Marquez script: call out Mayweather and Floyd comes out and accepts the challenge. Keep in mind that Canelo is a GBP puppet. He only fights boxers GBP puts in front of him.
:usa:
look man...I get it...NOW I get it...you dudes will explore EVERY fukkin avenue possible EXCEPT the one called "Manny is ducking Floyd and Arum is helping him do it" avenue....you dudes act like it will kill yall to explore that ave....have fun with trying to convince others to be so blind and stupid....stop giving yall money and support to those clowns....they leak certain information and dudes start repeating everything from Arum's WADA to Skip Bayless's bullsh!t...c'mon my dudes!!!....this topic aint even fun no more....its a shame dudes can't unite as ONE just for this particular fight...that would throw the suit and ties for a loop :boxing:
Did you guys read Roger Mayweather's last interview? He said no Morales or Alvarez. There is only one person they are pursuing and you know who that is.
Mayweather will not fighting pacquiao even if the fight between marquez vs the pacman trilogy is controversial...bcoz any fight any opponent that they have face...is defferent its deffends the setuation....floyd feard manny all the way cos the previous fight of the pacman..ex. Cotto,margarito....floyd avoid that two true welters
Do Mexicans even celebrate cinco de mayo i know some ppl that went to Mexico on that weekend and they didn't even know what they were talking about.
Little help from the Mexicanos this has nothing to do with the thread i know just curious
Canelo is boring. Nobody wants to see Floyd and him fight next yet, outside of the Mexicans maybe. It would be Ortiz II.
Unless Mayweather wants a tuneup fight, there is only one option for him: Pacman.
And to the original poster, Floyd isn't ducking Pac. Sorry...but it's very obvious who is ducking whom. Arum is ducking Mayweather...
Bob Arum isn't even entertaining negotiations even though everyone on both sides are ready so what difference does it make. We will know after christmas when they decide what they are gonna do.
For as long as you can remember? The only fight he actually had on Cinco De Mayo was against Oscar! Never had he fought on that date prior. Against Mosley he fought on May 1st. Against JMM and Ortiz, he also fought on Mexican Holidays.
you know not every may 5th (cinco de mayo) or sept. 16 (mexican independece day) is gonna be on a saturday right?
so it's that weekend.
floyd always fight on cinco de mayo or mexican independence day weekend.
doesn't matter if he's fighting a mexican or not (hatton/mosley)
been that way for the past 4 years.
they put mexicans on the undercard and his ppv gets a little bump.

Its the first week of May. It's always reserved for either Pacquiao or Mayweather. They always fight on that date. If Mayweather didn't call dibs, you can be sure that Pacquiao would be fighting on that date.

His words said otherwise with the possibility of Marquez, Mosley, Ortiz when those fights were in the horizon, and they all came to be. There is no spinning it, the biggest fight means...he wants Pacquiao!
So it's time Pacquiao gives Arum the command.
