Why is Mayweather - Cotto such a bigger draw than Pacquiao - Bradley?

Just take a look at the stickies. The Mayweather - Cotto one has over 73,000 views! It's rapidly catching up to the Mayweather - Pacquiao master discussion thread which has been up much longer! Meanwhile the Pacquiao - Bradley sticky had a whopping 5,000 views and it's not even up anymore for the time being. My question is why do you think Cotto - Mayweather is currently a much bigger draw than the Pacquiao fight? Is it because Mayweather is the biggest draw in boxing? Biggest fan base in the sport of boxing combined with being the most hated in boxing? A combination of all? Is it because people believe Cotto has it in him to beat Mayweather? And what about the Pacquiao fight. Do you think it's just not as appealing because of his opponent? Or maybe because it's not close enough to merit any hype yet? Please give your opinions on how you feel. And to those who say, well Bradley doesn't have a huge fan base, how does that come into play when Mayweather fought Ortiz? They had to compete numbers with Pacquiao and Marquez, two fighters who have avid fan bases.

There are numerous reasons. 1. Floyd is the biggest draw in boxing 2. We've been waiting for Floyd/Cotto since 2005 3. Floyd is fighting Cotto at a weight Pacquiao refused to 4. Cotto is a much bigger draw than Bradley 5. Pacquiao's flaws have been exposed to a large audience in his past 2 bouts 5b. That, in turn, has really shined a light on Mayweather's greatness I could go on but you get the picture.

Floyd-Cotto could easily generate 1.5 million to 2 million buys. Manny-Bradley might break a million. It all comes down to names. Bradley is not well known. Sounds about right.

'cause majority is hoping for an upset and see floyd kissing the canvass, i for one would bet on Cotto hoping against hope (drat!) that with his fight again, i might be able to buy a 50" 3D Samsung LED TV just as when he fought Pac years ago which made me able to buy a Plasma TV! (Plasma TV generates heat too much, i don't want it anymore.)

It depends who is your dance partner. Also the Floyd/Cotto fight is the closer date so after that fight I expect more ppl jumping in the Pac/Bradley fight.

So you feel that representing the red white and blue isn't a form of marketing himself to black fans? Do you feel all the marketing PBF does to blacks fans is viewed as negative by most non-blacks standards?

unfortunately for bradley, he doesn't get any love from black-american fans...a few maybe but in general they don't appreciate him. broner got much more fans although bradley is much more accomplished as a fighter. maybe they don't like his style and his lack of swag so he doesn't represent:dunno: WHy do you think Broner appeals to black fans? he appeals to Cincinnati fans. Bradley hasn't been built properly and didn't have a home base to build from like broner.

I know this is a flomo bumsniffer bait thread, but the answer is pretty obvious. Bradley doesnt have any following whereas Cotto has a huge following. Personally, I think both fights are on a par and are good fights, but I'm not happy that they are happening at all. After Floyd's embarrasing interview on the Costa's show, I dont think he is interested or willing to man up and fight Manny. Pitiful stuff really.

i feel, if the mayweather-cotto fight end's up being pretty exciting with mayweather winning, regardless of how many buys it does, then people will be swayed to buy pac-bradley. They will get the impression that both (pac & may) are gonna go all out in their performances just to build up the super fight even more. I still feel may weather will probably have a lil more ppv buys, just because i'm more hyped about the way maywethaer and golden boy are promoting it and hyping it up. Man, Pacquiao-bradley doesn't even have an official "title", much less any animosity towards eachother. In the end, i'm still gonna order both ppv because i love both fighters and their opponents. But unless pac starts making jokes about bradley's comet-sized head and not trying to make this like a charity exhibition match, then i see money may outselling pac, and legitimizing may's claim of having the better drawing power.

Maybe because the May-Cotto fight is gonna come first before the Pac-Bradley. And Cotto is more well known that Tim.
