Here's to a thread that gets back on topic about boxing instead of the trash the front page is filled with right now.
Anyways, Chavez Jr is scheduled to fight Rubio next and I fully support the fight. I think Rubio deserves a shot and hope he makes the best of it. However I think he's getting laid out about mid-way through the fight, so that is the reason why I feel confident in projecting forward.
Base line rule of the thread though, Sergio Martinez IS NOT an option, because it is quite clear that Arum will go to many lengths to ensure that Martinez is not afforded the opportunity to regain his title. And lastly, this is not Chavez bash thread, that sh*t is for the birds.
Here are my choices, with the number one choice at the top, followed by the rest
vs. Felix Sturm
vs. Saul Alvarez @ 160
vs. Arthur Abraham
vs. Pirog
vs. Cotto @ 158
vs. G. Johnson @ 168
vs. Martiyosan
other
I think a Sturm/Chavez fight would be pretty awesome. As far as the others. I think of course Alvarez/Chavez would be money. Abraham, not sure if he's going to stick at 160/168 but at either weight, it'd be a barnburner. Pirog, for some reason is so overrated on these boards off of the Jacobs win, that maybe a Chavez fight is just what is needed. Cotto at a catchweight and even at 160, although its honestly a crap fight and Chavez is just too big, people are interested in it, so might as well be an option. Cotto can make it interesting.
Glenn Johnson is the type of fighter who'll test everyone. He seems to be the never ending barometer of whether a fighter deserves to be in the fight game. Chavez is so big that 168 seems like a natural progression. And lastly, Martiyosan is a guy who seemingly never has a fight lined up and barks more than he bites, two pretty similarly sized guys, lets see what he has.
Discuss
I hope he fights Chetto, that way I don't feel at all bad about not watching it. As it is I know he's going to pick someone who can't possibly beat him, but I want it to be at least someone I know is a joke fight and not something semi-legit that I would feel bad about not watching.
i picked abraham because of how much fun it would be
canelo would be terrific as well, but it's too early in my estimation
i wouldnt mind seeing him beat the bag out of vanes, either
that guy has some god awful habits, like talking **** and then shying away from fights.
After the fight the names he mentioned were Cotto, Margarito and Martinez. Out of those three I see Margarito getting the fight. Cotto is booked for May 5th with Mayweather, Martinez well I just don't see Arum putting Chavez in the ring with Martinez for all the chips @ 160lbs just yet. I don't think Chavez is ready yet. The best fight there for Chavez is Margarito it would Mexicano vs Mexicano. Tony has a good name and is a warrior period. In his last three losses Mosley, Pacquiao and Cotto he fought up until the last bell or went out on his shield. He might not have the pop @ 160lbs but he will seek and destroy because that is all Tony knows. It would be a war!!!! Chavez wins the bout due to his size and strength advantages.....LEFTY
It will be Margarito at 160. It's Margarito's last chance for a legit payday and it's a Mexican name Chavez Jr. can add to his resume before he goes after Sergio. Plus it's an inhouse Top Rank Fight. Book it!

sorry bruh but any other fight is a clear duck.this man is walking around with Sergios belt, and even the damn WBC said he has to fight him.............This guy is a disgrace
I'm not arguing that point, but what's the point of having an aneurism over it? We know Big Poppa Bob isn't going to let it happen until Sergio has been KOd or over 40, so might as well not lose sleep on it and discuss fights that may happen.

Yeah...when this thread was first made, I mean Tony wasn't even a thought anymore; but the boxing world now wants a piece of him.
Sad
Tony though is still too much man for most of these boxers I firmly believe
I kinda worry if the fight gets made because Tony idolises his dad. So would he have the same fire to hurt Jr?
All roads lead to Tony Margarito

I picked Vanes, because he's big enough to fight at 160 and would be the best fight for JCC JR so far. Rubio was a good step up and since he's never going to fight Sergio, he should fight Vanes or Lee next.
I'm interested in a Lee fight, although I'm concerned about his durability and his ability to wage a war with Chavez.

Bump...
Although my original prediction, that Rubio was getting laid out didn't happen, the question is still relevant; who should the prodigy fight next?
