Canelo is 0.3 inch (1cm) taller than him. Same Ortiz. Does it count? I mean... you think of Pacquiao.. he has fought people that was three inches or more taller than him. You think of Matthysse, Broner, Martinez... they all fought people a few inches taller than him.
Why is mayweather never taking that risk and avoiding fighters that are taller than him by a few inches? he only agreed to fight dela hoya but he was wasted already and about to retire.
Canelo, mosley, delahoya, gurrero, not sure aboit ortiz, not sure about gatti, ndou was a lot taller, corrales was 6ft tall and undefeated, castilo was too i believe, genaro hernandez was taller when floyd beat him for the wbc super feather, im sure theres many others.
Larryx? Chime in
Great post. Ive thought about this many times. Im a huge fan of floyds. A 130 match up macho man would only spell trouble. His footwork was superb and he would circle the ring
pumping out that double and triple jab. Macho was so ****y aswell that he would actually walk into the ring like he was the A-side , and mentally thats a huge help to him.
i would lean towards a floyd split dec but a hard fought split but at the same time
i wouldnt be surprised if it goes machos way. At 130lbs macho looked like he was out of a computer game.
Think floyd out in the contract to have an accelerated clock. Fight should be a no contest
I think this is true. Floyd was sponsored by Hublot.
"dun dun duuuuuuuuuuun" O_O
*Gasp*
I hope NSAC dont have a boxingscene account, please god.
The pull counter is a basic move. Its boxing 101. Floyd does it so well because of his reactions, timing and great handspeed.
The pull counter has existed since the dawn of time
Saw an article on it just now.
Just as crazy as it seems, this sounds like a great fight! Thoughts?
16 yr old Amatuer from the Mayweather gym, Devin Haney would beat the living sh1t out of Mcgregor in a boxing match.
Floyd? Ha!
Its incomparable
What did peak floyd vs shot manny prove ?
Manny-
It was clear after manny was brutally knocked out by marquez manny wasnt the same.
he beats the robot rios and gate keeper algeiri , but he went all 12 with them. He looked like dog shht in both fights
Then fights floyd .
1. Manny is reported to have cramps
2. Manny has a floyd mole in his camp
3.manny had to stop sparring for some reason
4.floyd gets caught taking an illegal iv which is usually done to mask peds (had it been done the otherway around most floyd fans would have shht bricks). All the while he and his fans say he makes 147 easy , so easy they say he can get to 145 np .
5.manny takes a selfie entering the ring
Floyd-
He fights canelo who at the time was considered green as his best undisputed win to date was josesito lopez and alfonzo gomez , two 140 pounders brought up to 154
(Trout fight by many was considered at gift decision to canelo or robbery in Texas).
He out boxed canelo at a catchweight as most thought he would.
He then fights maidana twice
In fight 1 , he loses the first half of the fight and wins most the rounds the second half of the fight in which many thought he lost or at worst drew with with maidana
Its was a disputable victory in which floyd decided to rematch maidana and clearly beat him by points although he was hurt at minimum of 3 times by the hard hitting maidana. He then fights pacman
The biggest thing remebered by the pacman fight was the illegal iv floyd took for some mysterious reason. Then there was the mysterious shoulder injury.
So I ask you . What did pacman vs floyd prove last may?
Are you serious?
Looooooool
Each time I watch Rigo's highlights, or training montages, two things always catch my attention.
1) His never changing Rigo face. I'm pretty sure Donaire wakes up in the middle of the night with cold sweats, haunted by that set in stone like Rigo face. He probably has sh*t turds that make him catch a breath because they're shaped like that Rigo face and stare deep into his soul.
2) His dazzling footwork. I mean, I'm a relative boxing noob, so maybe that's a contributing factor, but the way Rigo seems to glide all over the ring like a "f*cking lizard on ice" is a thing of beauty.
Got me thinking about who else has God tier footwork.
List who you think does.
Hector Camacho Sr
Willie Pep
Sweet Pea
Jose Napoles
If you had it 4 to 1 for Khan you must have had a blindfold on or be an extremely bias Khan fan. Khan landed 48 punches to Canelo's 64 punches. That ain't winning. You are only you. You aren't most people.
If you think khan wasnt winning the fight theres questions you need to ask your self about boxing.
If you didn't have khan winning you were smoking crack. Canelo looked lost and most people like myself scored it 4-1.
I know everybody wants the Canelo- GGG fight, but it will not be competitive..lol GGG will win every second of every round.
4-1 is what i had it too and i aint even a fan of khan.
That right to the body hurt and bruised khan. You can see it if u watch it again.
Also, his mind lapsed after the cut. The right glove was high. Game plan lost.
Canelo wasnt stupid either. He was jabbing to the body through out the earlier rounds, setting that overhand right up.
He chose his moment to execute his power shot at the right time. So credit to Canelo there.
why would he Larry? He literally stuck his chin out to let him hit it a few times. The guy walked right through him, no bullsh1t. it was a sh1t matchup but that was entertaining. Stop trying to turn boxing into some philosophical activity. It's a combat sport. This site is very bizarre when you have people complaining about a beat down and would rather have seen a fight stretched out over 12 rounds because that somehow makes them more skilled.
Walked right through him definatley.
Golovkin is built very strongly. He may not look it but he is incredibly strong and durable.
The same way Hagler was very strong and durable.
Skill takes you a long way, agreed. But there is a huge element of physicalities. HUGE.
Its why there are weight classes.
Golovkin is a whole lot stronger than the whole division. He knows it. His whole body is like a peice of iron.
I doubted it at the time, but in retrospect I think it was. Golovkin said he feels the power go out of them after the first knock-down, then encourages them to open up by letting them hit him.
You'll notice he didn't do it with Lemieux?
Cos hes a banger too
Floyd why mention him?? He would never have faced a fighter like Wade in his prime..
GGG is garbage
He thought dressing in drag was cool..you agree with that too?
No, he only faced Ortiz.
Some people claiming Spence knocking out Algieri somehow puts him above Khan, so using your own logic,
* Khan knocking down Maidana in round 1, while Mayweather failing to knock down Maidana even once after fighting 24 rounds
* Khan knocking out Judah while Mayweather wasn't able to.
* Khan knocking out Ortiz as an amateur in 2 rounds, while wearing headgear, while Mayweather needed a suckerpunch to KO Ortiz in 4!
...all means that Khan, by your own logic, is superior to Mayweather.
So there we have it. I'm glad we all can finally agree.
Khan young doe
I have to disagree with you. If you can't handle the responsibility and obligations of being a world champion then don't win the title. Vargas absolutely did the right thing. I would have lost respect for him if he had turned down the challenge of his clear number 1 opponent. Vargas's corner could have thrown in the towel at any time to save Vargas from the terrible beating he took. Instead they left him in the fight until the end on the off chance he would win. If you aren't a champion you don't have to fight a killer if you don't want to. A champion can turn down his most dangerous opponent but it's a bad look and many fans rightfully don't like that kind of champion. If Canelo waits for GGG to lose some of his skills from age before fighting him his fans would see through that and lose respect for him. The time for Canelo to fight GGG is now. If he is getting beat up his corner should stop the fight. I think Canelo has the mental toughness to take a loss and still reach his full potential. It's unfortunate for him that he is champion at the same time a monster like GGG is champion but those are the breaks. Who knows, he may surprise you and win the fight. I know that's not likely but if he chickens out of the fight he has no chance to win and every chance of being labeled a cowardly boxer.
Good post homie. My sentiments exactly. Boxing is a business after all but it us unfortunate for Canelo that a freak of nature lurks in the same division.
Gennady wants to unify the division and he has more than enough potential to. He can make history for him self and his countrymen. 2 more defenses away from bhops record aswell. But its all on hold due to politics. Gennady wants to reach his potential too.
Its crazy how golden boy is rescuing Canelo.
They have oscar saying Gennady should move up, Danny Garcia saying it, bhop sayimg it, floyds getting in on it too, now khan and virgil. Canelo is very protected, it isnt his fault.
Gennady is on his own not getting fair treatment, like Hagler was dogged early in his career for being too good and a south paw.
Poor guy Gennady. He just wants to unify.
If so, what does he need to do?
Floyd has been a champion from 130lbs -154lbs.
Gennady would need to do something simmilar.
Roy jones did it
James toney
Bhop to some extent
There is an exception though. Marvin Hagler. He fought everybody though from mugabi, leonard, hearns duran. He had stronger competition but he was dominant. So....maybe
He already was not cracking 1 million ppv..his fight in Sept will do terrible numbers due to recent events. The ran hasnt fought at 154 in 3 years and has just been run back there literally. This is beyond embarrassing and Oscar is protecting his only asset is seems when it is not even necessary. Canelo is a damn good fighter but Oscar and his company has turned off a lot of fans with this bullsh1t
Hold on, hes fighting Liam Smith?....?
