Remember, this is at 130. When I watch footage of him at 130, it is like watching a human blur. In a fantasy matchup between the two at 130, I have to give the edge to Camacho. At higher weights, he would have still been a handful, but at 130, he was perfection. He could turn and be behind a guy and hit him before the other guy knew it. A friend of mine, Ice John Scully, former 175 contender even said he tried to use that technique in some of his fights.
For Camacho, he was not just punching at an angle, he was a 360 degrees buzz saw.
Amazing how many fighters copied his flashy ring entrances....Hamed, Paez, etc, etc. Man, it sure would be great to see another fighter like that who was a human blur. I don't see anyone with that blinding speed or even near it.
Here is footage of a prime Camacho. Even when they show slow motion, he is still faster than most guys at 130.

Floyd would win this, camacho got beat around the ring like a rag doll by JCC. Floyd would beat him to a koRead the title of the thread. They didn't fight at 130. They fought at 140 when Camacho was no where near as fast and was not the fighter he was many years earlier in 1985.
Floyd.
It's a totally different story when you can't get hit and you bang like you have dynamite in your fists.
Floyd @ 130 would hurt Camacho bad.Tony Pep, Cuelvo and O'Shields weren't stopped, neither would Camacho be, not even close to being stopped.
Great thread. Floyd was at or near his best at this weight but given that Camacho was a southpaw and could virtually match floyd is every category. Well lets have a look: Camacho was probably faster than floyd at this weight, he was a better combination puncher....Floyd was a better counter puncher but at this weight and speed, nobody is countering camacho! Floyd is probably stronger but at this weight not much is going to happen to the body.
the intangibles: Camacho was a killer when he could open up on you, Floyd was probably a little smarter and technically savy.
All in all I give it to the macho man. Most people who saw Camacho fight at 130 would at least have to think about this... It is the height of stupidity to put either fighter at a blind wash at this weight....
One poster compared this to the Benitez Leanard fight. Fair enough. thing is if Wilfredo had trained for that fight and been on his A game it would have been a better fight (Sugar Ray was better), and would have been close enough in skill that anything could have happened. Even at his worse Wilfredo was competative. My point is that this was a valid comparison but not for the reasons the poster may think! In a fight between Camacho and May at 130 circumstances may determine who wins! who had a better night, you know hapanstanz because this fight is a real toss up!
Invalid - Camacho fought a higher caliber of fighters more often than Floyd. If Camacho had Floyd's list of fighters at the points in which he fought them, I have no doubt he'd be undefeated too.
Floyd vs Mosley years past it's expiration date, Floyd vs Cotto years past it's expiration date and now Pacquiao years past it's expiration date
Would Floyd have gone through prime Trinidad, DLH and Chavez Sr unscathed? If the honest answer is yes, then you could then honestly say one is truly better.
Floyd is older than Cotto. Mosley declined to fight Floyd in their primes, complaining of tooth aches, so thats on him. Floyd is older than Pacquiao. Sooo, your point was?
Floyd would make Trinidad look dumb.
DLH and JCC Sr would be tougher fights but I wouldn't say Floyd couldn't beat them.
Camacho vs mayweather zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

JCC and Floyd fight nothing alike - JCC is a greater opponent than Floyd ever faced, JCC is greater than Floyd ever aspires to be

Don't waste your time, he's an idiot. he scored round one 10-8 for Clottey against Cotto. one of the biggest idiot trolls on these boards.I think you were responding to someone else.
Camacho got hit and hurt far more against Rosario than Mayweather ever has in his career. Rosario wasn't exactly a speed demon either.
I've watched both and Mayweather is the better fighter and it shows in how their careers turned out.
Also, Castillo hit Mayweather mostly to the body using his size and strength to pressure Mayweather to the ropes. Camacho was not that type of fighter and wouldn't have any size advantages.Rosario was at 135. Everything I am talking about is at 130 where 5 pounds made a big difference on Camacho's speed. At 130, Camacho is a nightmare for Floyd.

Looks like i'm one of the few picking camacho. The man was an absolute beast in the lower weights.
Brushmyhair don't like him because he was way better dancer than broner!!!
Camacho vs Mayweather = Leonard vs Benitez
Aside from a few subtle differences these are basically the same fights & IMO would have similar outcomes...
Wilfred was more than capable but in the end could not match Ray's strength, punching power, or accuracy & Camacho would suffer a similar fate losing a CLEAR but competitive decision...
Skill sets & talent were similar but physical differences ( strength, power, focus) are what separate Mayweather from "The Macho Man"...

If a slower Castillo one weight class up could land on Floyd for numbers almost equal to the numbers Floyd landed, the much faster Camacho could too, and more. Far from an easy fight, a very difficult one from the lightning hands and feet of Camacho. He would be a living nightmare for Floyd to solve. At higher weights, yeah, but not at 130. The best Floyd would do is barely win, if that.
