i think he's got one left in him, i think thats how he feels also,
thats why he's being picky about his next fight.
You might be right, I mean he's still a great fighter and I'm a fan, just dunno...
Carmen Basilio lol
No but seriously I really don't think he should be fighting at the
top level anymore, I think Pavlik is the only champ he could take advantage of now because of Pavlik's style. Maybe beat Jeff Lacy up or take Chris byrd on lol.
Such is the way of a true puncher homey. They knock you out or they get knocked out.
That's what I was gonna say lol
What's more exciting than a fight where you know somebody is gonna get ****ed up?
i like to see boxers like him come back and see how the experience helps.. also as a little guy i want to see guys move up in weight and do well.. im very proud of james toney doing well as a heavyweight, id like to see floyd do it.. its one thing to blow up to fight at a bigger weight, its another thing to actually grow into the weight like toney. thats some cool shit
if vargas did whip himself back into shape he might not make 140 but hed be bigger and stronger so maybe he could hang at higher weights
I dunno man he had a pretty hard time at middleweight. I think there are certain guys that get stronger as they move up, and certain ones (Vargas, Gatti, Hatton) that don't. I don't know why that seems to be the case, but...
Me and Johnny Tapia snortin coke out of a hookers asscrack in some third rate hotel. Yessir. I wouldnt mind takin Tyson along with us if hes down.
You beat me to it lol
That guy is probably a riot to hang around with.
I think Duran would have beaten Cotto. He started at 135 but was successful as high as middleweight so the strength wouldn't be an issue and he is far superior both offensively and defensively. I think Leonard would have beaten Mosley, just too fast on his feet and had good power. If Williams fought the Hearns that fought Cuevas, he would lose. He would last some rounds because of his footwork, but the pressure would become too much and he would start to get caught. I think once he started getting caught he would just start to take a beating until he quit or the ref stopped it. My two cents.
But to answer the question I think he has way too much pride and his ego is way too big to allow him to simply survive. I think at first he'd continue to box like in the first few rounds of the Judah fight when he got caught a few times, but I think if he thought he needed a KO to win he'd go for it. And for the record I can't stand PBF lol
So you can see Floyd fighting back, in exciting fashion, against someone like Cotto, eh? So it'd almost be better for him if he lost a step, had to fight for a win, so the fans got a little more "bang" than usual; hypothetically, of course.
Ali had his most exciting fights after his exile, when he had slowed enough to allow some opponents to occasionally catch up to him. I'm a huge Frazier fan but I don't think he'd have much of a chance against the Ali that fought Cleveland Williams.
True. Think the same may be true of a boxer like Mayweather?
That could very well be the case. That being said I still think there are some good fights out there to be made even if he hasn't lost a step. Mosley would be a good one as well as Cotto or Pacman.
I think all the ppl who are picking Pacquaio misunderstand the question... there is absolutely no question about who is better now, who is better in their primes, etc. Pacquiao without a question is better than Judah EVER WAS!!
With that said, I believe that Judah is one of the most Naturally Talented Fighters ever in the sport... what is unfortunate for Zab is the fact that he never developed the capability to come back after being hurt. If you look at most of the fights he's lost.... he held his own against some amazing fighters: He was whooping Kostya Tzysu's (however u spell it) butt, til Tzysu landed that punch that knocked Zab out; he was beating the crap out of Mayweather until the late rounds when PBF started landing good combos, He held his own against Cotto and Clottey until they respectively started landing big punches... once Judah is hurt, or gets hit with big punches he starts losing his composure, starts screwing up and getting hit more and more... then he does dumb things like low blows and what not... once Judah is hit by big shots at any point of the fight, he will mess everything up...
Regardless, Judah as talented as he is, cannot be mentioned by any means in the category of great Fighters, Pacquiao is a great fighter...
Yeah I know, that fight is just as unfortunate as the Ruiz-Tua fight. Ruiz was winning that fight handily until Tua landed that lucky punch.
Yeah you never saw fighters tapping the back of their heads or their cups like you do nowadays. Hell you couldn't even tell they had cups back then lol
Ali did technically KO Foreman, but it wasn't really a KO as Foreman was simply exhausted from putting everything he had into punches that many times didn't hit their true target. Add to that that Foreman had to have been ahead on the cards at the time he was knocked down and you have a rematch that could very possibly have gone against Ali. I'm not saying that that's the reason Ali never rematched Foreman, but it's a possibility.
Then those judges were really on Ali's nuts lol
He barely even made a fight of it until the last couple of rounds.
Even he said he was afraid of George actually making it to the end of the fight.
That says volumes about how he thought the fight was going.
Foreman took a year off from boxing (aside from the Foreman vs 4 opponents circus), looked rusty in his comeback fight against Lyle in 1976, had a couple of tune-up fights against Joe Frazier, Scott LeDoux and Dino Dennis, lost to number 3 ranked contender Jimmy Young in 1977 and retired.
I thought Ali was winning it. He was the one doing most of the landing, Foreman was doing a lot of missing.
I know he landed the cleaner shots hands down, but he wasn't even coming close to making the fight. The sheer disparity of punches thrown should have won Foreman rounds, it's not as if he was dancing around and making Foreman miss, he was laying on the ropes getting pounded lol
Peter was gonna lose to someone anyway, he's just not very good. The only thing he ever had was intimidation, his aggressive style and his power. He fought a bigger guy this time who just happened to be able to fight and was completely unafraid of him, so the bully got what he deserved.
Calzaghe is a fraud fighting oldmen cause he knows he will capatalise on their age in the second half of the fight
so not matter if he gets put on his ass in round 1,2 he will always come back because his oponents fades cause of age
biggest fraud ever is Calzaghe
Roy was famous for fighting opponents who shouldn't have been in the ring with him and beating some big names who were past it during his "prime", then got KO'd by Tarver and Johnson. I think that this fight would have been much closer if it had taken place during Jones' prime, but it would have still been a tossup. I'm not sure I'd call Joe a fraud, as he Jones Hopkins and Toney have all been guilty of dodging each other during their best years.
