I'd say yeah...low blow smoe blow dude got owned once that right hand hit it was over and if he hadn't bent over he was going to get laid out. Thing is Kovalevs good albeit kind of a three trick pony...but he was damn good...whose else ever won so many rounds against andre? andre even gave him his due which was classy considering all the crap kovalev talked. i scored the first fight a draw. Andre might not hit as hard as some claim or this or that they don't like but to write off this guys career over his dirty tactics is to negate all his other amazing attributes. Has andre used dirty tactics? Hell yeah, but to even admit that very last punch hit low, I still can't believe at the last three seconds Ward felt it was necessary to dick shot Kov. He was on his way out done done done. No way it was deliberate and calculated.Kov was rabbit punching all night too. The best man won that night. For Kov to whine is assinine. Andre was simply better down the stretch... did he "dominate" and win every round? No, but boxing can be similar to a game of 9-ball; a guy can make the one through 8 and miss the 9 and the other guy comes and makes the 9, well its still a win. If kov were mentally strong he would learn from this and to stay relevant he will get back in the ring quick against Beterbiev or Stevenson or Alvarez. To me what happen last night was just what it must have been like when Ali knocked out Foreman. Nobody thought Ali had a chance but Foreman gassed, the rest is history. Is Kovalevs career over? Maybe if he cant recover mentally and face prime top contenders but I don't think he will be forgotten in boxing history at all but hof at this stage? Meh
Ward is the truth no disputing that low blow smoe blow fight was over when that iconic right landed...this was as good as ali whooping foreman(which most saw as impossible then)
That may all be true but Canelo is still a Mexican who was born there and lived there all his life while GGG is an Eastern European who was born there and lived there all his life. They are both brave skillful hard hitting boxing champions and their fight should be a good one. They are both super heroes in their counties.
Golovkin is from Kazakstan which is in Central ASIA; this is not only not anywhere near Europe much less eastern "euro" it's not even on the same Continent. Russia when it was part of the multicultural nation known as the USSR was the dominant force. Golovkins mother was of korean origin and his father of russian descent and culturally he is a Kazak. FYI
Sugar Ray ran 80-0 TWICE!
The lack of basic boxing history knowledge is pretty sad around here!
Ray
Ray went 40-0 before losing that 0 to LaMotta on February 5, 1943 at Olympia Stadium in Detroit.
So how does oscar always get to these judges ? Who are the judges and referee gonna be? Anyone know yet? How are they constantly getting away with bribing these judges and them never being investigated etc?
Lipinets is with Haymon so he's got the best manager looking out for him as he should. There might have to be some step aside money involved or a promise to fight the winner.
Like who wouldn't wanna fight the champ for six belts instead of a vacancy fight for one belt. Sure Lipinets ahould get the winner but come on IBF don't stop a complete 140 unification.
You lose all of your credibility right there. The Ring title has absolutely nothing to do with the lineal title. Ring is owned by Golden Boy and makes up the rules as they go along, rules that directly violate every tenet of the lineal
Well the ring is the sixth belt and granted it means nothing but i put lineal in () i am aware they are two separate things
He has gloated in a recent interview tht he is stopping a unification... like why not fight the winner for all the belts. If he thinks getting Indongo stripped and having a vacancy battle will get him any fans or support he is wrong. Also the duplicity of the ibf in regards to joshua and indongo is a bad look.
I'm not gonna hate on Lipinets just the IBF. Don't have a double standard. If you gave Joshua an exemption then why not Indongo?
Okay this is what Im saying thats tye meat of it.
I want to see this fight. Beterbiev has a much better inside game and short range than Kovalev imho. Now can Artur have the stamina to not run out of gas? Ward with potshotting on his bike (respectfully so) for five or six rounds, all the while clinching to wear down Beterbiev stamina while keeping perfect control of range to negate the power until its diminished from the onset of exhaustion. I think he would be eating Wards left hooks all night, probably wouldnt see Wards right hand much. Ward with a points win with his pitty pat punches, fleeting footwork(in a large ring)and potshotting leads to the UD. Gotta give edge to Ward even if he can't really hurt AB as much as slow him down. AB would need to get his timing right and most importantly cut off the ring instead of merely chasing Ward all night like Kovalev made the mistake of doing.
Personally I'd like to see him get his block knocked off but you gotta be fair and not just a fanboy. May the best man win and please lord let it be decisive.
loooooong time lurker. I'll weigh in here. I think Bud has this, albeit this is boxing and we can't negate from Molina's powerful punches. Molina imho seems a bit big for the division once he rehydrates as his size/weight advantage was apparent in the Provodnikov fight; surprisingly he boxed instead of brawling there. He boxed in that fight bit I think anyone that's honest with themselves knows Molina isn't outboxing Bud.
