Ive said it once, I will say it again. BRING BACK 15rds!!! Tired of all these "controversial decisions."
Personally if GGG vs Jacobs and Kov vs Ward were 15rds, wed have 2 definitive winners.
Thoughts?
I say f#ck it, lets go til a guy quits or gets KO'd like the old bare knuckle days. If you are only gonna fight once a year anyways might as well go all out.
You couldnt have ended your post off better lmao! Damn, its shocking when you get a champion that fights 2x's a year nowadays.
I always think this. For title bouts, 15 rounds is much better at deciding the winner.
I agree 100%
If its not a title fight they can fight 12, 10, 8 etc...
Disagree. Stamina plays a huge factor. I think the longer the fight goes the quality of the fight goes way down. I would like to have an odd number of rounds though because I despise ties. 11 or 13 is ok.
Some people call it stamina, others call it heart, either way I think those are 2 traits a championship level boxer should possess.
Some guys are not born with fast twitch muscles but train and have the heart of a fighter. 12rds takes away from that sorta athlete.
And Id be ok with 13... :boxing:
There's no doubt about it. I thought Jacobs was fading there at the end and we'd have probably got another KD which would have made it more decisive, even though it was very decisive in my eyes.
Kovalev-Ward would have gotten more interesting, too. Twelve rounds is a long time, but fifteen really are true championship rounds where anything can happen.
Very true bro. I understand why boxing went to 12rds BUT to be honest, once 12rds was created, boxing history book shouldve been closed and re-opened with a new 1.

Agreed, but tv likes 12 rounds because they can get the fight in under an hour including the minute break between rounds.
eliminate the break between rounds. problem solved

True but in this age of Al Haymon, I am sure T.V. time can be ea$ily negotiated. haha
Guys are bigger, stronger, faster and hit harder than yesteryear's boxers. They are lasting longer and their primes are extended due to different workout regimes, taking care of themselves better when they aren't fighting. 12 rounds is enough. This sport is dangerous enough. 3 extra rounds was taken off for a reason decades ago. 12 rounds should be more than enough to establish who a winner and loser is during a fight.
I actually read somewhere boxing was switched to 12rds to suit T.V. timeslots, not to defend boxers health.
Also boxers of today are paid a lot better too, so 15rds makes more sense. At least thats my opinion...

It's probably what cost boxing injuries, or post-boxing illnesses in the first place. If we get 15 rounds again, boxers face increased health risks.
Not sure if Mancini vs Kim was 12 rounds if there would've been a death in that fight. Maybe, maybe not.
There's also fights you have to look at, like Perez vs Magomed which was only 10 rounds.
Also the recent death in 2012 of the Pinoy boxer, Karlo Maquinto, who fought just 8 rounds and died from injuries of that fight.
So if current boxers are passing away, sustaining life threatening injuries, from just 12 round fights or less, then imagine what 15 rounds will do.
Agreed
Judges could also start giving 10-8 for clear rounds and 10-9 for close rounds (with the usual -1 for knock downs), because at the moment 10-9 rounds cover way too much ground. This could have given us a more satisfying conclusion to DeGale vs Jack for example, in which I felt that the rounds won by Jack were more emphatic than the rounds won by DeGale
15 rounds fights might be more boring since fighters will probably hold back a lot more in order to make it the 15th round, I think 13 rounds is perfect, 3 championship rounds, 11, 12 and 13.

I say 13 Rounds or 11 its gotta be an odd number to try an avoid draws
13 wouldnt be bad and I agree about draws although I have no problem with hard fought draw.
