I would be impressed that the fight was probably more exciting than I thought it would be. Then I would think wait 154, he fought Oscar at 154 and won by split decision. Obviously this guy doesn't need to be fighting higher than 147 to be extremely dominant. Then i'd think well the Sergio , Floyd fight would probably be really close and a great fight to watch.
All time great fighters are calling out Canelo on ESPN Deportes etc. There's no way it doesn't happen in September and Canelo keeps his pride intact. He has to fight the guy or suffer lowering PPV numbers. He doesn't have "credibility" according to JMM, Chavez Sr. and the gang.
No doubt this is a great fight to be made but I think Mikey is just too strong at 135 and has boxing IQ to match Lomanchenko. Loma is a beast in his own right but Mikey takes this one, possibly even by KO.
Lives a clean life, and the guy is extremely dedicated to the sport. That a long with some clever match ups on his part have played a part in his longevity. I agree with everyone stating that this is part of the reason he doesn't want to fight Ward. Wards boxing IQ is up there add speed and youth, it's a sure fire way to lose if you're Hopkins.
I like it though, bring on someone like Cleverly or Bute next. Nice way to go out defending the championship one more time.
this was themost bull ***** fight ive seen in a while. not suprised it inlvolved mayweathers b!tch azz
Completely agree, I wasn't too happy with shelling out those 60 bucks for that kind of bull to happen. Would have been nice to have seen an actual fight.
Martinez with movement and those straight rights all night. Wide UD win for Martinez RIGHT NOW. In a year from now I think GGG and age might catch up to Martinez.
The only thing I can compare it to in other sports is in football(soccer) if the ref stops play and someone scores on a "fair play" situation.
Legal? Yes. Cheap? Very.
Mayweather should have just kicked his a$$ and taken the high road instead of retaliate with the same cheapness as Ortiz.
I'm obviously still bitter that the fight ended the way it did and I'm a fan of both ha.
Ortiz shouldn't have tried to apologize for what he did. It was blatant and obviously got to Mayweather. The fact that there are precedents that show Mayweather doesn't play around and doesn't care if you're trying to talk to him in the ring or complain to the ref, Ortiz should have known better and just kept at it.
Stupid on both parts. Ortiz because a head butt is a head butt no way to justify it. Mayweather because he was in control and could have possibly put Ortiz away show casing his skills rather than stoop down to a cheap shot like Ortiz. That being the case they're both in the same class regardless of skill.
Not a bad list actually. Personally I don't think Bradley should be top 10 , maybe just outside of it since he kind of lost to Pacman and had a close one with Prov. I guess since he technically "won" you can put him there. Either way not bad.
I've given Bradley a lot of flake before in the past but most of it can be attributed it by the fact that he paraded the Pacquiao win around like he had Knocked out Pacquiao and that just rubbed a lot of people the wrong way.
He came out last night to make a statement and showed great heart. Some people may call it stupid to go out there and fight toe to toe with a big puncher but damn I haven't seen someone with that much heart in such a long time. I feel as though Bradley has vindicated himself big time, I couldn't help but root for him as the fight went on. It's a shame he has no power behind those punches.
I agree though people should cut him a little slack.
Mosely was a little past it at that point. I agree with the Pacquiao DLH statements though. DLH was picked to cruise in a big mismatch, little did people know.
It's amazing how many people continue to discredit the man. I think the only thing that beats Martinez from now on is time. He's already up there in age. Hope he goes out on a high note though.
A chess match that Oscar would win. These days Oscar's knowledge and skill in boxing are overshadowed by his clownish nature he shows as a promoter. The guy could fight. Martinez would give him trouble with the speed endurance and power but I think it's a puzzle Oscar would figure out.
ODLH Unanimous Decision. Though it would be pretty close.
Preferably a Mackin/GGG fight then a move up to 168. I picture him getting a hold of the WBC Super Middleweight belt and setting up a big PPV fight with Ward.
Very tough for Alvarado given he was the winner and all but I still like the match up. It's unfortunate this will be on HBO PPV but I don't mind the fight. We'll get to learn just how much Pacquiao has left in him, and when Rios finally lands on Pacquiao we'll see how his chin is holding up. This will either be a Glenn Johnson vs Roy Jones Jr. type fight or Pacquaio will KO Rios in the mid rounds.
It's really a question of how Pacquiao bounces back ....if at all. If it's all downhill from the Marquez fight then Marquez has got this. I don't thing Bradley comes back the same after that grueling war and Rios gets hit too often.
i dont understand why people think rios is stronger at lower weights when some complain he looks drained at 40.
at 47 some still say hes still drained.
dude weighed 159 tonight.
Naturally the bigger man. Gives him the edge in a division where he fought some 130 fighters moving up to 135. I don't think he's very drained at 147, I just don't believe he's got much power there. He should drop to 140 if not it's 147 or 154 where he'll be severely outgunned for the most part.
I believed he was iron chinned before the Marquez KO. I definitely think it holds up but I don't think he's mentally as confident and is very weary of that incoming punch now. Lets not forget at 135 Rios could hurt you bad, at 140 he had power but not devastating. I don't think he carried much to 147. Pacman was tested but I don't think he'd take a true 147 power punch well.
First time I've voted on a poll against Pacman. Still questions about how he'd take a clean punch against a big puncher at 147. Rios himself didn't look very powerful at 140. Though he stopped Alvarado he didn't have much of that pop he did at 135.
He wasn't the same but I think he's got a Bradley rematch and Mayweather fight still in him. Those guys aren't exactly big punchers and he's still got enough of that speed to school Bradley and give Mayweather a good fight.
