As far as flip flops go (where everyone was saying one thing before it was signed and going into the fight.....and than completely flip flopped after the fight)......is this the biggest flip flop in recent memory???
Well to be fair, you had to be reaching to predict Mosley would win, or think Floyd wasn't as good as he clearly is.
I could not favour Mosley over Mayweather when he got out boxed 3 years earlier (ok, outboxed is strong) by Miguel Cotto
:lol1: How bout you admit that a 39 year old Mosley was coming off a 17 month lay-off when Floyd fought him? Is that so hard to admit?
I have no problem to admit it, but you were the one saying : "I still laugh at people that say Mosley was a decent/good win for Floyd".
Sorry but if this fight wasnt a good fight for Floyd no fight at all would have satisfied you because at that time it was THE fight that had to happen beside Pacquiao
just destroyed?? :lol1: I think you mean 17 months after being inactive.
And For your info, I never would have claimed Floyd ducked Mosley. They were always too far apart of their primes to be considered a real matchup.
lol I'm trying to imagine Floyd saying: Hey guys !! I won't fight Mosley, I don't think it's a legit fight since Mosley has not been fighting for one year, so I decided I would fight Devon Alexander instead !
The amount of bash and hate threads would have been so high the site would have crashed.
Mosley was p4p #3, he beats the guy at 147lbs, that was the fight that had to happen, deal with it
Where is that Margarito vs Mosley thread at again? Man it was so 1 sided in that thread and when Shane knocked him out it was a complete turn around. Then everyone said that Floyd would never fight Shane. Even Arum said the same thing. Manny didn't even want to fight Shane after what he did to Margarito unless it was at a 141 CW.
This ^^^^^
Pacquiao's team and Arum didnt want to hear anything about Mosley after the Marg's fight. Roach and Pac totally ducked Mosley and said Mosley was too good. However as we know Pacquiao can have all the freepass in the world and will be seen as a hero. Floyd took the fight and he's the coward
I still laugh at people that say Mosley was a decent/good win for Floyd :lol1: Really??? Mosley was hittin 40 years old and coming off a 17 month lay-off when they fought
Can you imagine what a younger more active Mosley would have done to Floyd after having him hurt in the 2nd round? :lol1: we all know.
Mosley was top 3 pound for pound, recognized as the best 147lbs fighter and just destroyed the guy people said for years Floyd was ducking. Is this fight didn't happen you would have been one of the posters claiming for years that floyd ducked mosley.

There as a major 180 done after this fight.
I don't consider it a great win in hindsight, but it was a fight that absolutely 100% had to happen. Mosely was #3 pound for pound, coming off a major knockout win over Margarito and confronted Floyd in the ring face to face.
You cannot criticize Floyd's opponent selection in this particular instance.
I don't know about a flip flop but in hindsight it wasn't a great win for Floyd.
Fact is the Margarito fight was fools gold. Shane looked great. But he was fighting a guy that was just minutes removed from being caught with plaster wraps. Mentally that fight was over before the first bell rung. Not to mention the fact that Margarito hasn't done anything since being caught, lending credence to the theory that his career was built on cheating alone.
Without that win Mosley was viewed as being done. Then when he didn't fight for a year and half after that it made it even worse. You had a shot old fighter that was now inactive.
People were calling Floyd a ducker because he said he wouldn't fight Mosley after Shane challanged him following the JMM win. Using disrespect as a reason for not fighting a guy can be seen as a duck.
I give Floyd props for taking on Cotto as he was still a legit threat at 154. Plus the way he handled Cotto was impressive. But that is the exception to the rule when it comes to big names Floyd has fought recently. They are either past their prime like Shane or ovverated guys coming up from 140 (or even below with Jmm) like Hatton.
when i was watching the lead up to the pac/cotto fight, it was no question who had the high ground imo. the sense was that pac had all the momentum and cotto was reeling and this was really his back against the wall shot of turning things around. not saying it wasnt a legit win, but it wasnt like most ppl felt cotto was gonna dominate pac. the question was whether pac could handle a true ww. but odds and most fans were with pac over cotto.
How can refusing to fight him without a CW be a true WW ? Pac will not fight Cotto without lowering him first , that adds big ramifications that get stepped over like its nothing , cracks me up how weight means nothing to 95% of fans , they should try boxing for a while and I bet they change their minds .
A lowering CW brings an unknown evil to a fight , if the fighter being forced lower had a lot of trouble making weight you often dont know for sure until during the fight , where he will be thinking why am I so sluggish , and after the fight through medical testing .
When 2 fighters are matched , fans make picks and debate what they think will happen auto thinking the fighters will be at their best , its dont always workout that way and if you know why a fighter was not at his best a flip flop is fair enough , the knowing why must be for real and proven , like Oscars IV Fluids to gain 2 pound , Oscar HAD NO CHANCE from that point on .
I dont know what the hell your talking about. The only odds that matter are the betting odds. And Mayweather would be favored in every fight he takes. No matter whos in the ring with him.
What kind of odds do you think I'm talking about? Obviously the betting odds.
Mayweather was a 5:1 favorite over Mosley. Same as he was against Cotto and almost the same as Ortiz.
Odds is = risk taken by the fighter.
Mosley was not a big risk for Floyd (though i applaud him for taking it).
Even less so from what we now know after Mosleys performance vs. Floyd, Mora, Pac and Canelo.

Oh, please. Pacquiao was favored and most knew that Margarito was not the same fighter at that point. I wont even get into 150 pound BS Pacquiao wanted for that fight. No need to lie for the purpose of making the win bigger than it was. Pacquiao would have never fought Margarito in his prime or a weight where Antonio was comfortable. To answer your question about the weight, Margarito never fought at 147 after the Mosley fight. That tells you all you need to know about it.
There was only 1 fight in between the time marg fought Shane and Pac. You're speaking as if margarito was fighting at 154 for years prior to coming back down to face Pac at a 150 Catchweight fight. Lol
I think Trout/Cotto was tbh. I mean when Floyd fought Cotto, Cotto was a beast. After Trout mirrored the act, Cotto instantly became shot. Seriously, like a millisecond after the decision was announced.

Well, there's this 1 guy................his name is Bushbaby...............:lol1:
:lol1:
I gave you ultimate props, you were definitely leading the Trout express.
It's great to see he's getting his spotlight.
i actually did, i was dumbfounded cotto took the fight. i think jro did as well. there were a few. it was a very very high risk low reward pic for cotto. but then again its cotto. i may not like his fanbase but the guy has balls of steel.
A few did, not not many. I can't think of 5 people who did.
I knew Trout would be a very tough fight but I predicted a SD/MD type fight for Cotto.
