gatti
Ha,Zab Judah vs Floyd Mayweather Jr would be a dream matchup, because I dislike both fighters the same.I wonder how Zab reacted when Don said that.
I def. agree with you there. I am a huge Gatti fan, if you couldnt tell by the pic, and would love seeing Gatti upset either of the two. Despite being such a big fan, i dont see that happening. I would like to see Gatti earn his biggest pay day if he were to be on his way back down after all he has given the boxing community.
I dont see Gatti/Judah on June 11. I believe the Mayweather fight will go on. BoxingTalk has reported Mayweather and Top Rank have signed a contract and in response the WBC has re-ordered a purse bid for Friday at 4PM. The WBC's purse bid originally was called off, but is now back on. Top Rank is reported to bid up to 9 Million, which would give Gatti 5 million.
who else thought that The Contender in one night displayed more drama and excitement and character developement (as well as better fight scenes) than The Next Great Champ did all season?
I agree with you fully. The next great champ was a waste of my time. The contender not only displayed more drama, excitement, and charcter development, but they also put together a much more qualified and competitive group of fighters. I you have not seen it and are interested, I posted a some credentials and info on the fighters of the contender on the guru's thoughts on the show. It is a few pages back if you are curious.
Arturo Gatti -
Jose Navarro - got completely screwed over in Japan
Fernando Vargas
Shane Mosely
Miguel Cotto
Johnny Molnar - a relative of mine who some of you have probably seen.
I know, was just joking around at the point that you missed that Sylvestor Stallone is actually on the show for doing a boxing movie.
They had to put him on the show becuase to the general public he relates to boxing. They have to draw the non-boxing community in order to gain ratings that are resonable.
This 'quitting' seems to be becoming a bigger and bigger problem now days! Just last night 2 (two, for real!) different fighters quit while getting beat, and it's so disappointing. One was Koba Gogoladze, and the other was Jorge Lacierva (check spelling). Gogoladze, I thought, was tough as nails, but he quit inbetween rounds, and I'll never view him the same again. What the hell is going on with our fighters?? It used to be damn near unheard of for a boxer to just quit! It's a shame!
Gogoladze was taking a beating and had no shot to win the fight. Why continue to take those shots, when by ending the fight he will be back to fight another day. How can any of us criticize other professionals, i do not see you in the ring with any of these guys. While I agree when you reach a certain level it takes guts and heart to compete, but those guys dont have them and thats why they have no belts, but they still reached that level which is more than we can say.
Yes it is off. Gatti will be fighting on June 11th on HBO in AC but not agianst Floyd, since Top Rank could not get Floyd to sign a contract by a deadline that has been extended many times.
I do not see Lacy looking past Williams and feel he will take care of buisness here. Lacy even has some personal issues with Rubin Williams and will make quick work of him.
It's a mandatory fight. Barrera has to fight him to keep his belt. The fight will be held in El Paso Tx, My Hometown. I will be there but my seats suck. Has anyone had an experience where they went to a boxing event with far seats. I would like to know if I will be able to see good. I have seats for row 34 on the corner. Any advice will be helpful. thanks.
I went to the Gatti/Dorin fight and sat up pretty high in the Convention Center at Atlantic City. Dont know anything about the place this fight is taking place, but when I went to that fight I didnt really have a problem seeing the fight. I sat near the top, but was on a side of the ring not a corner. I mean there is nothing that can compare to being down at ringside (was ringside for the Golota/Grant fight) but just being at a fight is always an experience.
Why would Gatti's people have retired him after the Ward trilogy?? What have you seen that the rest of the boxing world hasnt, Gatti is boxing better than ever before in his career and is finally earning some money for all he as given us. And just as everyone else said, how can you say that it is Gatti that doesnt want the fight, it is Mayweather who has not come forward to sign the contract.
And why would Floyd come to AC, because he has no choice. Gatti is fan favorite and it is gatti who puts the fans in the seats.
a little off topic here...but I was wondering if anyone remembers or knows the name of the guy who won the decision on the undercard fight right before the Juarez fight came on?
Gatti-Witter would be a great fight for boxing, it's a showdown of 2 over-hyped frauds with a nieve fanbase, these guys truly deserve each other. When 2 frauds go head-to-head, the sport of boxing wins, because that means 1 guy gets exposed and tossed into the dumpster where they belong.

Why do you insist on coming on here just to trash as many fighters as possible. You obviously have no understanding of the sport or no respect for the sport. How long would you last with any of these "fraud" fighters. While I agree some fighters may gain hype not equal to their true skill level, but they all still deserve respect. If you are a true fan of the sport you would understand what these fighters have gone though to make it to where they are today and respect each fighter whether or not their skills can take them to the very top. Every single post I have read of yours on here is disrespectful and is trashing a fighter, or in your words frauds.
hhhmm, ishe beat bailey?? he's gotta be a fav to win, but i hope he gets beat
Yea Ishe beat bailey. I really hope he doesnt win it either. They really put together an impressive group of fighters. Should be some good match ups in the upcoming shows. Heres some info on the remaining fighters.

Some other notes on the Contender that were not mentioned on the show....
~ The offical scores for the Manfredo/Gomez fight were:
50-45 / 49-46 / 48-47
~ Alfonso Gomez is now 11-2-1 (4 ko)
His first loss as professional came in his second fight vs at
the time a 3-0 opponent in Las Vegas. That opponent...Ishe
~ Ishe was pretty much right about Manfredo's opponents, the only names I recognized was a 10 round decision over Victor Rosado and he won a 12 round decision over Anthony Bonsante in 2004 defending his NABO title. Anthony Bonsante if you didnt recognize is also on the contender. Ishe is 14-0 (7 KOs) with wins against Randall Bailey, David Estrada, and Sam Garr.
Mzonke Fana is 22-2 (8 ko's) from South Africa. Fought outside of South Africa once in his career, where he went to England and lost. Ranked 2 by the WBC and 3 by the WBA. Not so sure about this guy.
No the real fact of the matter is everybody involved had to sit around and wait for Floyd to straighten out his legal issues. Once all that was cleared, everybody had to sit and wait for Floyd to sign, but he did not get the split he wanted. Mayweather was not in a position to bargain the split here, but still attempted too. The venue was never an issue, so you can get off of that subject. The only issue here was Gatti and Main Events had to sit around and wait for Floyd, and they finally got tired of him and Top Rank.
Yea no problem. I enjoyed the show despite over-Hollywood edited fights. They grouped together a good group of fighters and put together a overall intersting show that does a good job showing boxing in and out of the ring. I wish they would show unedited fights, but I understand there are time restraints and they need to keep as many non-boxing watchers as possible. I did some research on the fighters and found the story line and possible match ups interesting and thought I would share with you guys.
That was an impressive outing for Rocky...cant wait to see him take the title from Injin Chi. He will not have a problem "falling in love with power" in my mind. Tonight he just hurt his guy with the first punch and then went in for the kill, just as he should have. He will continue to fight smart, he is too experienced and well-rounded to do otherwise.
