Undisputed world welterweight champion Zab Judah has offered to fill the breach and challenge WBC junior-welterweight champion Arturo Gatti.
On discovering that that undefeated pound for pound top 10 fighter Floyd Mayweather jr had failed to agree terms for a June 11 HBO Pay Per View date with Gatti Judah jumped at the opportunity of a potential 'Super fight' against one of the most exciting fighters in the world.
"Arturo Gatti is one of the most exciting fighters in the ring today, and I'd welcome the opportunity to fight him on June 11 at any weight," Judah said earlier today (March . I'm available anytime, anyplace and at any weight to fight the best fighters in the world."
Judah's promoter, Don King, echoed his fighter's sentiments and took it one step further: "Zab would love to fight Arturo Gatti, and if that can't get done he'd be willing to fight Floyd Mayweather, too," an emphatic King said. "I look forward to discussing this further with Arturo's promoter Main Events. I know Arturo is courageous, but is he courageous enough to step in the ring with Zab Judah.?
"Furthermore, is his promoter willing to pit the courageous Gatti against the invincible Judah? I'm willing to do it. Are you willing to give this to the public, Main Events?
Gatti, 39-6-(29), had planned to announce his fight with Mayweather (33-0-(22), as early as Jan. 29 at the post-fight press conference after Gatti stopped Jesse James Leija in Atlantic City. The fight was unable to be finalized and was scrapped on Friday.
Judah, 33-2-1 NC-(24), scored a ninth-round technical knockout over Cory Spinks in St. Louis on February 5 in front of the largest crowd to witness a boxing match at an indoor arena (22,370) and become the undisputed world welterweight champion.

i think judah is gonna come down to gatti's weight if he can that is lol
For you guys that think that Judah will not fight in June because he has a mandatory in May.
Think of it this way. If you had three belts at 147 and needed to defend one of them for about 200K or it would be stripped. Would you let it be stripped for the chance to fight for about 2 million?
This is simple economics, Judah wants to fight Rivera, but what it come down to is that Judah does a lot more for his career and marketability by fighting Gatti.
BTW- This would be more of a mismatch than Gatti Mayweather.
Gatti is scrub, why do people act like he's some kind of tough guy? Name three top contenders he's proven himself against. If Gatti doesn't fight Mayweather, he'll be a bitch, in my opinion. But if the Gatti Mayweather fight can't happen, I'd be more than happy to see Mayweather fight Judah in November/December...Mayweather would beat that kid up..

I like Gatti big in this one. I loved it when Kotsa made him do the forward moon walk.......I wanna see it again!!
The best thing I read in that article is that Judah might face Floyd. It would be a great fight. I take Zab winning after one hell of a fight. I thought I remember hearing that they are friends so I wonder how that will effect things?!?!!?
Barrera and Tapia were friends. lol and he beat Tapia like a stepchild.

I think Judah is a much tougher fight for Gatti than Floyd. The size and power of Judah makes a huge difference, but since the stakes of such a fight are higher (undisputed welterweight belts on the line), maybe Gatti will take the fight. He'll get drilled in 6 or 7 IMO.
You gotta be jokin....Floyd matches Judah in every aspect and even surpasses him in some. I'm aware that styles make fights but Floyd considerably hurt Chop Chop more than Judah did, the same Chop that walked down Judah for 12 solid rounds...Floyd would also be more a threat becuz he can take a punch as well as block them instead of dodging them which increases the risk of getting hit clean...Bottom line, Judah is all gifts with no true fundamentals.
I Judah fight won`t happen in June because Judah is fighting in may and its a mandatory fight so he won`t pull out of it. I think Judah wouild beat the hell out of Gatti if they did fight. Gatti`s people should find another soft touch opponent so they can PROLONG THAT TITLE REIGN!!
i would love to see this one.i always wanted it to happen when zab was a light-welter but it just never happened. Can zab still make Light-welter ? i saw a picture of him in a pose just before his welter showdown with spinks, he clearly gaines considerable muscle mass in his upper body.
I dont see this happening. Judah is fighting Cosme Rivera on May 15th, and then he's gonna try to fight Gatti a little under a month later? it'd be suicide. remember last year when judah fought spinks then fought pineda a month later? dude was fatigued as hell. imagine if he pulled that shit again, it would be Judah/Tszyu all over again.

Floyd also said that Arum better not even think about putting Cotto in with him because he would KO him inside of 5 rounds
at this point it'd be more interesting to see Cotto in with Gatti, after he takes care of unfinished business with Chop Chop
I'd really like to see this. I think Zab takes care of business in round 9 or 10. I don't see Gatti getting past Zab's overwhelming speed and his southpaw stance. I'd expect Zab to make Gatti look like an amateur. I still think it would be a very lucrative fight and I'd pay to see it.

Gatti will definatly not go to 147 to fight Zab when he could just fight Floyd at 140. Main Events is too scared to let Gatti fight any top guy who has a chance of beating him. Why else would they scrap the Mayweather fight as soon as Mayweather had come to terms. It's stupid. The only reason why they had a deadline is to make it look like they wanted to but as soon as Floyd came to terms just a few hours after the deadline then they say no, it's too late.
Junior Witter`s promoter has also apparently made a $2.5m bid for Gatti. Him or Judah would make for a better fight, FMJ would just run rings around Gatti, 12 UD.
I dont see Gatti/Judah on June 11. I believe the Mayweather fight will go on. BoxingTalk has reported Mayweather and Top Rank have signed a contract and in response the WBC has re-ordered a purse bid for Friday at 4PM. The WBC's purse bid originally was called off, but is now back on. Top Rank is reported to bid up to 9 Million, which would give Gatti 5 million.

notice the underlined parts.
Sounds like a bit of ducking from Gatti, IMO.
I think he was ducking Floyd. Not the other way around.
