Quitters as follows:
Freitas
Duran
Vitali Klitschko
Joe Frazier
Sonny Liston
any others to add?
To this list of "great" champions?

There was no life at stake in the Vitali fight.
He suffered a minor injury compared to ones sustained by:
Gatti
Hopkins
Ward
etc.
Hopkins dislocated shoulder IMO is a more serious than a "rotator cuff" injury.
not to mention, Hopkins uses his shoulder to block punches....and continued to do so against echols.
Ali's jaw was broken, he continued to fight.
These guys are real fighters. Doing what they get paid for.
A torn rotator cuff is more serious than all the injuries listed above?
Have you ever sustained an injury?
I didn't think so.
im not sure what a clavical is but pernell whitaker broke his during the fight in which he retired. This is getting rediculous. You guys are taking some of the best known names in the sport, not to mention some of the most talented and toughest fighters, and basically calling them all bitches for retiring during a fight.
I was just adding to this meaningless thread.
Who did Joe Frazier quit against? Certainly you can't be talking about the Thrilla in Manila. Joe wanted to continue but Eddie Futch said enough was enough.
not getting up off of your seat, when ali is still standing.
constitutes quitting.

I can't say that Oliver McCall quit on purpose. I'm no head shrinker but that looked like a nervous breakdown if I ever saw one. Can't blame someone if their mental faculties have left them.
What about Jack Johnson? He quit against Jess Willard. He should be on the list.
Another way you can look at it is this:
If I decided to leave work early, I would be Fired.
Vitali Klitschko left his biggest job, and recieved a "raise".
It makes me sick,
And I like the guy, but he should be forced to fight Byrd, or
removed from boxing.
Forced to fight byrd? byrd doesnt want none of vitali
This 'quitting' seems to be becoming a bigger and bigger problem now days! Just last night 2 (two, for real!) different fighters quit while getting beat, and it's so disappointing. One was Koba Gogoladze, and the other was Jorge Lacierva (check spelling). Gogoladze, I thought, was tough as nails, but he quit inbetween rounds, and I'll never view him the same again. What the hell is going on with our fighters?? It used to be damn near unheard of for a boxer to just quit! It's a shame!
Gogoladze was taking a beating and had no shot to win the fight. Why continue to take those shots, when by ending the fight he will be back to fight another day. How can any of us criticize other professionals, i do not see you in the ring with any of these guys. While I agree when you reach a certain level it takes guts and heart to compete, but those guys dont have them and thats why they have no belts, but they still reached that level which is more than we can say.

A torn rotator cuff is way more serious than anything that is broken or dislocated.
what about oliver mcCall....he didnt want to fight and started crying. imo his quitting was the most shameful
absolutely. Teary eyed and all.
McCall did boxing justice however; he gave the belt back to the right owner.
Im not sure that Byrd deserves the belt he attained from VK, and VK deserves another shot at it.
Nonetheless, they are both quitters.

After Lewis landed that good punch on his face,
he looked just like a turkey, literally. He made a strange face, bug eyes, turkey, the works.
I think he means Golota vs. Tyson.
But what if leaving work meant that you would live another day and surely show up for work the next day and the next day and..........Rockin'

See, that is the other side of it, right there! Sometimes it's best to quit, and come back stronger if possible. I guess I'm just against those that dont really appear hurt and still quit and make some lame excuse as to why. It's a double sided issue, at the least!

It might be the worst thing you can do as a professional fighter.
I have ten times the respect for Wladimir Klitschko, as opposed to his quiting brother. I can see how people give him due credit, he deserves it for not quitting.
I like Vitali Klitschko. So much that; if he lost the rest of his fights by knockout, I would still enjoy watching him fight:
he needs to do 1 thing however;
Beat Chris Byrd by not quitting the fight.
That is a F%cking disgrace to fighting, hence his name "quitali".
I think the main thing that bugs me is when they make up some excuse for quitting. Just admit that your being whipped and dont want any more! Last night one of them said his hand hurt..well, Gatti fought 8 freaking rounds with a broken right hand, and won it too! I understand if youre seriously hurt and can't not only fight the way you usually do but cant defend yourself either, then yeah, stop! No sense in getting seriously messed up. But, when the going is rough, and you just dont 'want none'...damn, dont quit and make an excuse! It's hard to look at them the same when they do that.
Sure, I'm not a fighter, so it's easy for me to say that, but I'm just not used to seeing them give up that way..not at all!
I agree that Vitali needs that rematch with Byrd, badly. But, I dont think that Byrd is gonna do that!
Chill on Frietas, if he didn't quit, he could have died, or ended his career that night. Should give him all the credit in hte world for stepping in the ring with Corrales.
I made a bucketload on Corrales that night tho. Not many believers...everyone though Freitas was gonna KD his ass 5 times or something.
