It's sad, Dimitrenko vs Haye simply makes too much sense, it seems. And I hate the fact, that Wlad takes such a long break, considering that Vitaly is still uncertain if he can motivate himself for another fight.
He was dropped by Timo Hoffmann aswell. I'm not sold on him, and I think Universum isn't either. Even Sdunek (his coach) said Wlad would be too much for him. The Krasniqi fight is pretty useless, I don't think he got any better since Thompson battered him.
Gomez claims to have beaten him. He said it around the time Vitali fought Peter. I don't care who shuts him up for good, I'm a fan of both brothers, but I think Wlad vs. Gomez is the better fight, Vitali would just destroy him.
I wonder what Gomez was talking about, maybe it was just another infamous "Gym-story".
You all seem to forget how much athletes have evolved. Usain Bolt jogged 9.91s in the second round of the games, that's faster than Carl Lewis was in Seoul. The overall competition in major sports is so much bigger.
You just can't compare them, too much has changed.
I'm not comparing "jogging" to boxing, I'm just saying that todays athletes are much stronger/faster. 20 years ago scientists were convinced, a man could not run faster than 9.80s, because the muscles would tear.
Well, he is very popular in Germany and eastern Europe. In Germany, nobody knew Lewis until Vitali fought him. Boxing has finally become a global sport, which I think is a good thing.
I don't blame Peter for quitting, his trainer should have stopped the fight after the sixth round. He's responsible for him and he should have seen Peter ran out of answers and was taking a beating.
The fighter shouldn't have to quit (except because of injuries,..), if he does, the corner failed.
This fight really felt like a draw, with the scoring system I had Calzaghe up by a point, but thought Hopkins is the better man. I wouldn't mind seeing a rematch.
I hoped Wlad would take on Gomez in december. He would have been a better replacement than Rahman. Two very good technicians and Gomez beat Wlad as an amateur. Wlad would knock him out, but I think it would have been a great match-up.
Vitali got no time to waste and I think he's only going to fight once more (twice at best).
I think they're both equally popular, maybe Sturm (better looking, fought DLH) a bit more than Abraham.
I think the fighters aren't as big of a problem as the TV networks. Same thing with Klitschko/Valuev. Judging from Sturms comments after the last fight, I think he's more concerned about Abraham than the other way around.
After seeing this I'm sure, he's playing a role there. The only glimpse at the truth is, when he says that this is the one fight he always wanted to have. He's clearly going for the money.
This is sweet, his biggest argument to lure Klitschko into a fight and make him wait until june, was that Haye promised he could provide a stadium (Chelsea).
Now Klitschko delivers where Haye failed and in a much larger scale I might add (60000+). Or in Boxingscene language, Haye got owned bigtime :).
Yup, Golota by a mile!
Klitschko vs Lewis is another example. Vitali always methodically breaks his oponents down, but when he's up against the best he's ever faced, he tries to blow him out. Great moment to completely change your style.
He did the same to Hyde, though. He's either a little arrogant or over excited on the big stage.
Naaaah, Frank didnt gas in the Lewis fight. Lewis wasnt entirely sure what to do when he was getting hit with that jab over and over again, so he took some time and figured it out. It was incredible really from Lewis, he took his time and absolutely stung Frank. It was the typical Bruno story really, absolutely fell to pieces once he'd took a big punch. If he could just clich after taking a big hit he might've done a lot more. That twist uppercut on the ropes after missing with two overhand rights from Lewis was phenomenal. He literally hit Frank so hard and cleanly that it was too good to knock him out, it seemed to momentarily paralyse him instead.
They both looked pretty ordinary to me, except for Lewis showing some good finishing qualities.
I#m furious right now, because I just got my tickets (which I paid way too much for) so I'm not really unbiased, but the fact that they couldn't specify the injury, even to team Klitschko, sounds fishy to me.
Mikkel Kessler broke his hand 3 weeks before the biggest fight of his career and yet still fought Calzaghe in Wales.
Just saying.
Which was a mistake and a sign of arrogance. I'm a Kessler Fan as well and I think he learned from this fight, ultimately, he also let his fans down. I would have loved to see him k.o. Calzaghe a couple of months later.
As for the Klitschko bout, I just got my tickets and I'm pissed. So much for being unbiased, I want Hayes head :).
I really dont care if he is shitting or not i just want my money lol.
I think there should be no problem getting back your money for the tickets, but I'm not so sure about flights, hotels,...
That's a good idea and Ruiz would wholeheartedly go into this fight trying to win and not just be there for the paycheck. I hope this fight happens...
Excellent suggestion! :fing02:
I've been wanting to see Wlad KO Ruiz for years.
It's easy for you to talk like that, but you didn't pay a sh*tload of money for the tickets *cries* :)
The Germans would pay to see Wladimir fight Zuri Lawrence- that's how popular he is over there. The limeys on the other hand, must be pissed...
I am german and a klitschko fan, but thinking of paying to see him bury Ruiz makes me cringe. Ruiz is a nice guy, being slaughtered in front of 70000 people doesn't seem appropriate to me (that honour goes to Haye, I think someone put some bread on his hand while wrapping it and said "David, look! A hot dog!" - "Mmh ... hot dog .... squeel")
I have never been sold on Dimitrenko, he almost lost against Hoffmann, but this fight was pathetic. You could clearly see that he didn't wanna be in that ring tonight. He's always complaining, pushing and being generally unfair (what was he celebrating at the end, getting out in one piece?).
I wonder what Universum and Sdunek see in this guy?
I'm still a little disappointed of Kessler, not because he lost against Joe, but because he went into that fight with an injury. I think that's arrogant and disrespectful.
I hope he learned from that.
I'm not quite sure how to rate Abraham at SMW, he looked spectacular against Miranda. The increase of power was breathtaking and I think he is stylistically the worst fighter for Kessler.
Off of that list I'd pick Maskaev, he's really shot. Haye looked really ordinary last night and I don't want anyone to spoil a possible Klitschko bout.
That was actually a good fight, a good match up. Both well schooled, I think Inkin might have the bigger potential, but he got a little sloppy in there (maybe due to him training at home instead of Hamburg). None of them has that special ingredient that makes for a great boxer, but it was a good fight.
