Who have you got in this matchup? Both have good jabs good power are strong, Bruno has been in with better fighters but was only champion for a short time where as Wlad has been in with weaker opposition but has been champ for longer, Both have poor chins as well. Interesting match up.
Bruno by KO? lol that guy is a borderline bum. He isn't nearly as tough as he looks.
Well, he's now borderline insane. Not that he was ever in possession of many marbles, "know wot I mean... " Ask the wife he beat up.
Yeah... That fight should've happened, but was probably deemed too risky by Lawless..
However, we can go by how they fared against Lewis..
Mason fought him first & got quite badly owned, suffering a detached retina which affectively ended his career..
When Bruno fought him, it was for the world title & he did surprisingly well, often beating Lewis to the punch, but gassed & got stopped around the 7th which was about the same time Mason lasted..
I know it isn't much to go by, but it suggests Bruno would've had the edge..
Yes think he would have beat Mason.
Oh, sure Duff was involved & would have certainly had an influence, but at the end of the day, he was in it as a promoter & wouldn't have been that bothered if Frank got over matched. Lawless on the other hand, used to take Frank home with him after training.. Their relationship had many similarities to Tyson/D'amato, with the exception being that Lawless wasn't 100% confident in his prospect & thus developed him at a much slower rate.. Regards MM
Lawless was renowned at holding fighters back sometimes in cases like Magri I believe to their detriment. Not 100% convinced that Duff wouldn't have been bothered by Bruno losing, nice for a British Promotor to have a heavyweight contender?
Still waiting on an explanation of why widow twankie, aka Frank Bruno, ducked Gary Mason, a domestic British fighter whose career started roughly the same time as Bruno's? Could it possibly be because said Mr. Mason had an eighty-nine percent KO percentage and might expose the glass chinned robot dancer?
I doubt the jury will be out long on this one.

Missed you asking that one. The fight might have happened if Mason had got a title, without it he would not have fitted into the typical mo of a Bruno opponent. Bruno was very well matched the only error made was Bonecrusher who came a bit out of left field.
The typical Bruno opponent was a punchbag or a fighter who might have been dangerous 5 years before but by the time he was bought in for Bruno was chasing the paydays. Would that be a satisfactory explanation?
Thinking about it, I guess that Duff probably had a reasonable say in his early career as he and Lawless were tied pretty tight. One talent Duff did have was he could spot a shot fighter a lot earlier than most. A good example of that was Don Curry v Honeyghan.

With regard to the above post, I'm not so sure about Mickey Duff protecting him.. He may have had a small input during his last 4 or 5 fights, but Frank was only going in with formidable opponents by then.. He was wrapped in cotton wool a bit under Terry Lawless who guided most of his career.. I don't recall any breaks in his career either.. To the best of my knowledge, he remained active throughout & only retired the once..

As i've already said, these 2 are so so similar & the voting confirms this..
Both have good jabs
Both have a KO punch
Both are in excellent physical shape
Both have dodgy chins
I went for Bruno on quality of opposition only.. Good match up! Got people thinking...
I won't be ridiculous & say 'reincarnation' because that would be the wrong tense..
But Klitschko could covincingly pass as 'The white Bruno'
I love the White Bruno line :)
You are a Brit arn't you? Whats your position on the "contenders" Bruno faced? Bodies or legitimate contenders?
I had the nerve to argue with the poet wow what was I thinking?
I don't think Wlad is anywhere near as glass chinned as Bruno. Yes, Wlad learned a harsh lesson from Sanders, but Sanders is the type of guy Bruno avoided throughout his career: a devastating puncher. Bruno ducked Greg Page, never mind the likes of Tommy Morrison, Ray Mercer, Moorer, Tubbs, Foreman. He was even terrified of Gary Mason and consequently never held the British title during that fighters long tenure. Wlad has never ducked anybody, as a contender or a champion, and he's dominated his era. Bruno couldn't even dominate the UK scene.
I don't know about Bruno ducking people, the poet put a long list of contenders he beat lol.
Read the thread back you are pushing at an open door.
Like I said I'm going with Klitschko on this one but do have major reservations about him.

Would agree that he was handing on for dear life against McCall and would also say that his 2 best performances were the early rounds against Lewis and Bonecrusher both fights he lost. Would say B class for Bruno is fair, though not been that impressed with Klitschko so far.
I'm kind of viewing it as 2 chinny fighters who can both dig a bit and whoever lands decently 1st would win.
I'm kind of leaning towards Klitschko but more based on Bruno's weaknesses rather than his strengths to be honest.

Why do you think he went straight for Tyson? I'll tell you why, cos any of the other contenders out there would have KO'd his ass out the ring and Bruno would not have made the big PPV from Iron Mike. Look at the end of the McCall fight, he was done, hanging on for dear life. Druggy McCall had to KO Bruno to get a draw that night at Wembley. Fact is, Bruno's so called best displays were losses, and when he was hit he turned into a robot: Jumbo, Smith, Witherspoon all proved that way before Tyson got near him.
It's laughable that so many here think a B class fighter like Bruno is fit to share a ring with Klitschko.

Yeah but Bruno was defending against Mike Tyson not a Ray Austin or Chris Byrd lol

Wlad would be in deep sh*t if Bruno landed a decent punch. The question is whether he could finish Frank first. Not one to go the distance.
BTW folks, I saw Bruno a few months back. Amazing to compare him with, say, the somewhat portly Lennox Lewis; he looks like he could step back into the ring tomorrow and give the likes of Arreola and Haye a run for their money despite pushing 50 now.
Bruno always looked in magnificent nick must have been a fantastic trainer. Not 100%sure that the chiselled look helped him might have done the wrong work with weights?
Yeah i agree.
One thing you could help an old man with, how do you do the cutting bits and replying to them. About the only thing I agree with by the poet is that I do ramble, because I cant do that cutting thing so can't answer points 1 by 1.
