The fight that should have taken place instead of Klitschko vs Haye is
Haye vs Adamek
Both are similar in size, have moved up in weight classes and these two would have made for a very exciting fight. I actually think Haye would defeat Adamek because Haye has more power.
Haye looked uncomfortable after that little punch. Like he was in mid thought saying to himself shit I just got disrespected what should I do? He definitely did not like that.
Like I said on another thread. Wlad might wind up fighting Haye after all. Especially since the WBC threatened to strip Vitali if he does not fight Gomez. We could very well wind up getting Wlad vs Haye and Vitali vs Gomez.
I'm not sure if Haye has the skill to do that. I'd like to see him do it though. Right now the only person I'd bet on is Gomez. We shall see though, sooner or later.
Hey Paul. Who do you think would win in a fight between Gomez and Haye? Both are very similar in size and have had similar careers coming up from cruiserweight.
Well the WBC will most likely step in and put an end to this Haye vs Vitali fight. They clearly said that Vitali has to face Gomez. I think holding on to his WBC belt is more important to Vitali than the money he is scheduled to make fighting Haye. Personally as a Vitali fan. I think he should do the right thing and fight Gomez who has been waiting around for a awhile as the #1 contender of the WBC. Then Haye should fight someone else at heavyweight instead of some windbag like Barrett. Then if both win it will set up a huge fight between Haye and Vitali where they would most likely make even more money from.
Vitali should just fight Gomez and get it over with. Wlad did not want to fight Ray Austin however he was forced to by the IBF and even though Wlad was reluctant, he still fought Austin and knocked Austin out. Same thing he did when the WBO forced him to fight Tony "the tiger" Thompson. Wlad did not want to fight him but did so because Thompson was his mandatory. Same as Povetkin. Wlad did not want to fight him but the IBF told him he needed to. It is the right thing to do if you want to hold onto these alphabet titles. Vitali should look at it this way. If he fights Gomez and defeats Gomez, then that clears the way for him to fight Valuev.
The bald black guy from Peter's camp is the one that make's whatever comment you heard. If you do not think so, then you need to watch other video's of this incident and listen to how that guy's voice sounds. Also it did not sound like ******. It sounded like something else with a N word that is difficult to make out.
Too bad all these fatty heavyweights will never do that. The heavyweight division makes me sick, these guys shouldn't even bother stepping in the ring with a Klitschko if they're going to be 30 pounds overweight.
Of course it makes you sick. That is all anybody who hates the Klitschko brothers ever has to say when another boxer falls victim to the Klitschko brothers. I always read the same shit over and over from people. Before a Klitschko fight people say shit like "The klitschkos are going to get KTFO tonight". Then after another victory by the brothers, those same people come out and say "The heavyweight division sucks or the heavyweight division is a disgrace". Same old story over and over and over.
Gomez is an exceptional boxer. He did a great job of staying away from Oliver McCall who is a great puncher. That is Gomez's strategy in most fights. Box from the outside to a decision. Let's also be honest here. Gomez has a suspect chin. One good overhand right from Vitali and Gomez is out. It would most likely lead to a boring fight however Gomez is the WBC mandatory so at some point this fight does need to come to fruition.
Vitali has fought in and around the 235-250 mark for a good portion of his career. for a guy who is 6.08 that is amazing. if he is within that area 250-255 that is still in good shape because most people his size are usually heavier. i think the weigh-in is today so we will be able to see what shape he is in.
One thing I do have to say about Thompson is. He is very good at keeping his gloves up and defending himself. Definitely give him props for that.
Wlad does not look sharp at all. I think Thompson's size and defensive strategy is giving Wlad problems.
The fight was for the IBF International belt whatever the fuck that means. Does this mean that the IBF changes it's rankings and rates Golota very high? High enough to warrant a match against Wlad Klitschko.
I do not know how many times I must say it but I will say it again. Sam Colonna is the worst trainer for Golota. He has no clue how to properly prepare his fighter for a fight. Once again he was cold upon entering the ring and it took him the first couple rounds to get warmed up. That is what the trainer is supposed to do in the lockerroom. Warm up his fighter. Another thing I noticed about Golota is. He now fights flat footed. He does not have the same bounce he did when he was younger. He slaps and paws with his jab as opposed to sticking it in there like Wlad Klitschko does. What ever happened to his straight right hand that he used to throw with confidence?
Damn. Holyfield has not been 211 since 1996. He has always been in great shape but man for an older guy to control his weight and get down to what he was when he was one of the top heavyweights is impressive. Sultan is not chiseled at all but as you can tell from his pictures, his legs are like trucks. That is where his power comes from.
Many thought Peter had a granite chin but he was exposed by someone who was not afraid to attack him on the inside. I houghly doubt Povetkin has a granite chin. His chin has yet to be hit. When it tastes a straight right from Wlad we will see how it likes it.
If he fights Wladimir, Lyakhovich or Briggs, he will not reach 50-0. don king is a sneaky bastard. He will keep Valuev away from any good big fighters as long as he can. I do not think Samuel Peter would defeat Valuev because I do not think Peter is tall enough to really hurt Valuev. Peter would have to punch upwards and that take's away from Sam's power. Sam needs to punch on an even or lower level in order for him to really punch with the full impact.
Klitschko vs. Maskaev to unify (and gain The Ring championship belt, note) is just boxrec bollocks, really. Maskaev won't offer much resistance to Little Klit... it's even safe to assume that he'd quite easily get past Valuev.
I like Little Klit, but it'll be a disgrace if he becomes the completely unified champ without ever facing a live opponent.
He beat Sam Peter already, who in many eyes is a very live opponent, he beat Chris Byrd who was considered by many of the experts, the best heavyweight champ prior to losing to Wlad. He beat Brock who was undefeated. What else do you expect? Maskaev knocked Rahman out who many on here were calling the best heavyweight out there.
Golota would get KTFO. Glass jaw, always froze in big fights, no way Golota wins.
Once again. I agree that after 1996, Golota would tense up in big fight's. But you cannot sit there and say that his fight's against Bowe were not big fights. Golota was facing what many of the supposed boxing expert's called the best heavyweight at that time. He thoroughly dominated the top heavyweight of the time. Psychologically Golota is a fucking nut which lead to his downfall. If he had half, nevermind all of it but just half the mental make-up of Lennox Lewis, Golota would have been one of the top fighter's of his era.
its hard to say wlad isnt good against big heavies.. but vitali ducked golota saying he wasnt ready
I also heard that story. After Golota's draw against Byrd, Golota wanted a rematch and Byrd was unwilling to give him one. Then Golota supposedly contacted Vitali after Vitali defeated Sanders for the WBC belt and Vitali supposedly said to Golota that he is not ready to fight Andrew yet. What Vitali meant by that is anyone's guess.
golota would have ran out of the ring after the stare down. bowe was damaged goods and still gave golota trouble and made him self destruct
1996 version of Golota was not intimidated by anyone. I seriously doubt he would have ran out of the ring at the site of Wlad.
Another thing is, I am tired of hearing people say that Bowe was damaged goods prior to his fights against Golota. Bowe's hardest fights were the first two he had against Holyfield. The third one he did not take alot of punishment from Holy because Holy was a mess at the time with his health problems. The hardest shots Bowe took in their third fight was when he got knocked down, other than that Bowe did not receive alot of punishment in that fight. Beside's the fight's against Holyfield not one of Bowe's opponents did any damage to him. Golota ended Bowe's career period!!!
Supposedly Golota has not retired and he is in Vero Beach working out at Buddy Mcgirt's gym. Rumors are that he will try and schedule a fight sometime in the spring. Personally after that no show he pulled against Brewster, he should just get the eff out of the fight game. That was his last chance and he blew it bigtime.
I hate Briggs. But their is no way he is losing to Sultan. When Sultan attempts to come inside on Briggs, Sultan will get countered and either fall or get too scared to lunge back in, for fear of getting knocked out. Just like Sergei did.
Here is a quote taken from a recent interview with Buddy Mcgirt:
A couple of weeks ago, you told me that Andrew Golota asked you to be his trainer. What's going on with that?
I haven't heard anything yet. When Andrew came to my gym, he trained here for 2 weeks and asked if I would be his trainer - and he left. Then, he called me last week and said he still wanted me to train him. But nothing is definite yet.
I am surprised that Golota decided to leave Sam Colonna. Colonna is Polish just like Andrew is and Colonna lives in Chicago which is where Golota lives and prefers to train.
Personally, I think Colonna sucked as a trainer and was terrible at preparation on the day of a fight. If Golota wants to legitimately come back he should hire a good trainer. Buddy Mcgirt is not the right guy for Andrew. Mcgirt is very overrated as a trainer.
If Mccline defeats Valuev and wins the WBA, I will consider Mccline to be a more legit champ than Briggs is. Mccline already schooled Briggs for ten rounds, knocking him down in the process.
Toney did not look too slim in that press conference last week. I just cannot see how he is going to lose the excess weight he looked to be carrying last week in three weeks time.
In the first fight, I thought Toney did just enough to win by a slight margin. I do not believe things will be the same in the second fight. I think Peter wins by unanimous decision this time.
