Here is my round by round of Wlad v Thompson.
Both men have entered the ring.
Thompson looks fit and ready.
Wlad is a physical speciman.
The anthems are being played right now...
I'm a bit confused as to how anyone who just watched the same fight as me can call this a "good win" for Klitschko. I like the guy, but damn, this wasn't a very good looking performance. Combinations -a dazzling offense- would have put Thompson away far, far earlier. Honestly, Tony got put down not because of Kiltschko's punch, but because he was exhausted mentally and physically. You could see it on his face- he was aware, and honestly not even hurt so badly he couldn't continue- but he was done. He wanted out.
Wlad had an easy target in front of him. He played it safe like he was criticized for against Ibragimov. That pawing, measuring jab followed by a right hand through the guard - maybe a body shot here and there. Klitschko refused to put punches together and get his man out of there.
You need to put this performance in context of what Klitschko is regarded as; the best heavyweight in the world, who has paritally unified - and did he look it? If I didn't tell a friend that Klitschko was the best in the division, supposedly the most skilled and dangerous heavyweight alive, could they tell from the way he looked against Thomspon? No.
This fight has me worried about Wlad's future.
Coming from the guy who, two weeks ago, was an awful ref, a disgrace, who should never enter the ring again, I thought he did extremly well.
I still think he should retire though.
Cortez did make mistakes albeit minor ones, he didn't hear the bell to end the first round and didn't stop the clock when Thompson went down grabbing his leg.

Hmmm. The way I saw it Thompson was totally out of his depth and basically quit by R10. He was begging for Wlad to throw a punch so that he could go down.
Klitschko looked like Ruiz tonight
Klitschko won the fight. Can't take that from him. But, I can't understand why Cortez didn't warn him for the consistent holding. Anytime, Thompson actually started throwing punches, Klitchko held. The accidental headbutt was caused by Klitschko trying to hold instead of throw punches.
Very boring fight. I think Peter will KO him the next time they fight, if Klitchsko fights him like this.
Thompson was brave but didn't do nearly enough. Klitschko was there for the taking and he didn't take advantage.
Post fight thoughts.
Wlad defeats Thompson, who was flat footed and showed nothing in the ring that made me think he was going to challenge Wlad.
That being said, Thompson is cagy and can take punches, he just was not willing to throw back at Wlad.
Wlad looked sloppy and was not impressive by any stretch.
Thompson had quit by the time the KO came, he clearly did not want to be in the ring anymore, his heart is a serious question for the rest of his career. It quite pathetic to see him quit like that.
Wlad wins again, albiet unimpressivly.
Good stuff, that was a good win.
And I'd say Wlad got in the work he needed against Thompson.

On another note, Cortez did an excellent job, his timing on breaks was excellent, a top class referee job.
Goes to show people were overreacting about the Soto fight and Cortez's ability.

Another terrible Klitchsko fight. I wonder if Wlad realizes the Knockout doesn't matter if the fight is boring as fuck before it?
People didn't like Tyson and Foreman because of the Knockouts, they liked them because every punch they threw had KO written on it.
