I remember reading on here a few years back people absolutely slating the UK boxing scene, no fighters/titles etc. It was never that weak. Now we seem to have strength in numbers but most importantly we've got a figurehead like AJ who if nothing else, is charming and a good orator.
That pricks the ears of the general public and suddenly you've got outside interest coming into the sport and then looking around from there at who else they can support.
We've done some good things to highlight the sport, don't underestimate the Olympics, a lot of the fighters that have turned pro from there have become mild household names and they're easier to push onto the general public than some banger covered in tats.
Love him or loathe him but Eddie Hearn has pushed out the sport to the masses
To feel sorry for the guys a bit over the top. He's a goddam warrior, a sportsman but most importantly, he's not stupid. He'll know when the times right. He's not gonna still be banging at 40. He could easily retire now. IMO, his later fights in his career are to cement his legacy.
I don't personally think he'll have anything to prove after the Mayweather fight. There isn't really anyone else at the moment worth ducking or fighting for him.
I'm a neutral for this fight. I hadn't seen much of Bradley before this one and new of the bad fight Pac had with Marquez before...BUT! This was just an unbelievable result. If you steal a round, you still steal it! Which I think pac did for several rounds in the final last minute. I'd just love to read or hear interviews with the judges and listen to them talk through the fight they watched. Unbelievable
Don't get me wrong, I can't stand the guy. But didn't him and his wife have like an incredibly long relationship? Sure, she looked like an ice maiden but I guess such a life changing thin as retirement must change the relationship status. Not that I really care. Those glasses are a bit suspect though! ;@)
This IMO should be good. Mayweathers slowed down alot in comparison to previous fights which will make them more evenly matched. Mayweather will counter well but will he be able to handle Cotto's hooks to the body.
It'll go the 12. If it was NYC then cotto by decision. Vegas, Mayweather. Even though Cottos my favorite fighter I reckon even a slow Mayweather (Who I think is an arrogant stupid SOB) will nick it. But it is win or bust for Cotto, not much road for him if he fails this one me reckons
Good shout -Kev-. I'm a massive Cotto fan but all this talk about the lad ONLY being 20...
If you got it, you got it. Stick him in with Cotto or someone bigger, Alvarez would stand toe to toe. And even if he lost his belt, he'd certainly learn from the experience AND be young enough to bounce back!
Just my opinion, take it, or leave ;op
Yeah I did think while watchin it 'This ain't no thriller in Manila'. Thing is I watched this on a German Stream last night and they never showed a score card and never showed the corners between rounds so I scored it maself and not being funny, thought Haye did alot better than the official judges.
Ok so Haye tried to play the ref by always goin down the moment he got clinched but what do you expect? He knew Klitch was gonna do it, they didn't favour the ref and he was in Klitchs back yard. So if you can get a point deduct, go for it. Haye knew he was in the toughest fight in his career and also knew 'Boxing' the guy was gonna be tough, so play all the angles.
I no way had such a bigger margin, Haye wasn't busy but neither was Klitch and I think Haye won a fair few rounds by dodging the Jab and landing in spectacular fashion (though not always that pretty to look at) to grab the judges eye, though that obviously failed as well.
Shame for Haye, I hope he eats a sh*t load of humble pie at the press conference, he should do. He was out boxed at the end of the day, but only just IMO. He certainly wasn't destroyed though. Again, IMO
Man either way i'm just praying to god that Cotto kicks his ass. I couldn't bear seeing Marg's smug grin beaming if he won. I feel sick just thinking about it! haha!
Canelo within 7 I reckon. You can't sell this to me though I'll still probably watch it just to see how Canelo's improved since his last fight. Gomez has got heart, he just ain't got enough power or skill.
