Cotto looks like he's on his way out and getting ready to retire. Do we really need to see him take more punishment? I really don't need to see him back pedal with his hand across his body and the other on his ear. Cotto's been in too many war's and took way too much punishment.
Cotto had trouble with freakin Clottey which was before the Pacquiao beatdown. I don't even know if I can watch Cotto get beat down. Lets Hope Mayweather takes sympathy and carries Cotto past late rounds.
To feel sorry for the guys a bit over the top. He's a goddam warrior, a sportsman but most importantly, he's not stupid. He'll know when the times right. He's not gonna still be banging at 40. He could easily retire now. IMO, his later fights in his career are to cement his legacy.
I don't personally think he'll have anything to prove after the Mayweather fight. There isn't really anyone else at the moment worth ducking or fighting for him.
I never feel sorry for anyone getting paid that much.
Sure Cotto is going to get another beating of royal proportions but the pay cheque will be more than sufficient to numb the pain of that.
I feel more sorry for the journeymen with losing records that get blasted every fight by some young prospect for peanuts thats kinda saddening.
???
Mayweather is naturally smaller than Cotto. I don't think he has the power to knock Cotto out with his pity-pat punches. He'll pot shot his way into a UD.

Lets not forget why Cotto had trouble with Clottey. Cotto's eye had a huge cut and blood was getting in his eye from the 3rd round on.
Why should he retire? He's been looking good no matter if he's fighting cans or not. Look at Sergio when he fought a can in Barker, he didn't look good at all.
I wouldn't count Cotto out in this fight. If he were to somehow beat Floyd, he would be in for HUGE paydays in rematches with Floyd and Manny. I expect one of the best Cotto's to show up for this fight. And I also love Diaz as his new trainer.
I think Cotto might surprise everybody and be pretty competitive. And that's as much as anybody can really for from Cotto at this point, it would say a lot about him as a fighter if he wins around 4 rounds.
And it's hard to feel bad for a guy who's gonna rake in close to 15 million. I wonder how much Cotto has made up to this point compared to Trinidad?
Regardless of what happends, I don't see Cotto retiring after this one even if he loses badly. He might have a farewell fight in NY or Puerto Rico and call it a career, I don't see him sticking around if he's not one of the elites and belittle himself as a gatekeeper.
After the last Mayweather fight we know he will resort to anything to win, to get an advantage. Personally think Cotto has a good chance if he can back up Mayweather but he's going to get tagged by counters big time.
Sure he's getting some nice dough for this fight, but if he gets outclassed in there like Floyd has done to so many of his opponents, then yes, I'd feel bad lol.
Cotto isn't done yet, especially now since he left Top Rank and Bob Arum

It's a whole new world when you leave the devil of boxing.
This is a tremendous opportunity for him in terms of his legacy. Win or lose to have fought the very best, solidifies a legacy. Sure he has little chance but even if he just does okay, that's good. And you take punishment no matter what, might as well take the big paydays. I'm happy for him.
You know, for a dude thats only lost 2 fights (one controversial), and just came off of avenging one of those losses BEAUTIFULLY,
There is waaaaay too much criticism aimed at Cotto's resilience and ability.
I don't get it. Every title fight he goes into, cats are sayin he's "washed up", "damaged goods", "fighting for his career", and he continues to dominate?
Cotto is gonna lose this fight because he's going in against a better, more athletic and skilled boxer. period. This would've been the case 5, 10 years ago. Mileage is the last thing he has to worry about coming into this fight.
I'd love to see him win this fight, for his career & for boxing, but facts are facts.
P.S. I find Pactards way more obnoxious, annoying and delusional than Flomos. lol
10 years ago floyd was a 2 division champion.what was Cotto??in his 7th fight??do ya'll really follow boxing??and lets not forget floyd is 3 years older
NO.....
Not anymore now than I did when he was at JWW and people where talking about him fighting Mayweather when both where under Top Rank..
Cotto has always been a good fighter. Nothing more nothing less. Only difference now is he's at a higher weight class and Bob doesn't tell him what to do or take his money.

No I don't, at the VERY least he has this fight left in him
Now Mosley, I feel a little bad for Mosley
