like i said before, you need to start the assault early with floyd.
you have until round 4 to do damage. after that, he will adapt and figure your sht out and its game over from there.
This x 1,000,000.
As caveman as Maidana was vs. Broner, that's the only chance anyone has against Floyd as well. But the reason you won't see anyone try it is because they know what happened to Mosley (couldn't finish, punched himself out) will happen to them, too. It's going to take a Tarver-esque punch (RJJ II) to end Floyd's unbeaten streak, while Maidana is strong, he can't do it, IMO. You need one-punch concussive power, which Mosley had. I thought Matthysee might be the guy, but watching Garcia outbox him ended that theory. Pacquiao, well, ha, we will never know. Maybe Garcia himself landing a punch on Floyd's neck (like his shot vs. Khan) is about the only shot any legitimate shot a realistic opponent for Floyd can land to achieve this.
chop chop & judah hurt mayweather.......but this is where a lot of fans are clueless ----> castillo never actually hurt mayweather..............
Agree with the Castillo myth, but Judah never actually hurt Mayweather either. Maybe stunned him once with a straight left and caught him off-balance at another time (the uncredited KD), but he was never in trouble as he was briefly with Corley and Mosley.
Dan is a Floyd hater so this is pretty typical of him. But I don't understand why Manny and his team carry no weight for this fight not happening with so many proven reasons. Dan's statement goes both ways also.
I'd argue that Dan is not a Floyd hater, he goes back and forth on it. One on hand, he clearly seems to blame Floyd MORE for the fight not happening (though often saying that both are at fault, which of course is truth). On the other hand, he has often dropped thinly-veiled hints that he thinks Floyd would have won the fight without too much difficulty. Then, there was his nauseous praise of Floyd during the build-up to the Canelo fight. So he likes to be on both sides on the fence.
As for why he mentioned it damaging Floyd's legacy (while it clearly damages Manny's as well), I think that's because Floyd is undefeated and constantly talks about being the best ever whereas Manny is far from unbeaten and has several blemishes on his resume'.
This is another Floyd tactic.
He's throwing that rumor out there, then when he announces Garcia, Floyd fans will hype that **** up like he's fighting a prime Duran.
Very possible, and the only hope that Floyd has a legitimate fight in May.
I think it's still absurd to hope for Floyd-Pac in May, but after each fight one more time, Floyd-Khan or Garcia and Pac-Bradley II, a fight in September would be the last chance for it to ever happen. And this assumes Pac can get past Bradley, which won't be easy. Yes, he won clearly the first time, but Bradley did have an injury and Pac will quite likely take that fight very lightly.
Another theory: Floyd is indeed fighting Khan, and he will under-promote it to avoid the constant criticism, get through it, KO him impressively, then make a fight with Garcia for September 2014. This buys him more time to put off the Pac fight, since Garcia is a legit opponent choice, young, undefeated, hungry lion, etc etc etc. Then, by 2015, the fight will no longer be feasible, IMO. Pac will lose again by then or perhaps even retire.
So sad.
He started fighting real opposition that's what happened.
This. Sorry, not falling for the "Cintron is dedicated again, he's back!" He was never anywhere.
I agree with this unpopular decision.
What is in it for HBO? Stevens has already been fed to GGG, and he isn't getting the Martinez-Cotto winner. N'Dam has been obliterated by Quillin. It's an entertaining fight, sure, but HBO gets ZERO benefit moving forward.
I couldnt care less about who deserves it more. Maidana is just another canelo . Hes a slow big puncher . Mayweather will eat this guy for breakfast , broner was hitting maidana anytime he let his hands go . Floyd will pick him apart so easily. And floyd will see those big looping punches and easily avoid them and counter .
Khan has some speed and can let his hands go and i wana watch floyd against a fast fighter to see how he adapts and see what adjustments he makes .
Im more interested in fmj vs khan .
I agree with all this.
Per Dan Rafael, Top Rank is eyeing an eventual Pacquiao vs. Garcia fight at 147 with hopes of "passing the torch" to Garcia as a PPV attraction. That is funny on a few levels, but stranger things have happened.
What were the 13 PPV cards HBO distributed in 2008?--I'm sure you know that it doesnt put on PPV cards, promoters do.
OK, there were 9, sorry, I was off a bit. I just remember getting an HBO PPV calendar that year and each month highlighted a big fight.
Courtesy of BadLeftH**k, here's boxing's 2008 PPVs with buys:
Roy Jones Jr. v. Felix Trinidad 01-19 HBO 500,000
Kelly Pavlik v. Jermain Taylor II 02-16 HBO 250,000
Juan Manuel Marquez v. Manny Pacquiao II 03-15 HBO 400,000
Manny Pacquiao v. David Diaz 06-28 HBO 200,000
Miguel Cotto v. Antonio Margarito 07-26 HBO 450,000
Juan Manuel Marquez v. Joel Casamayor 09-13 Golden Boy 100,000
Kelly Pavlik v. Bernard Hopkins 10-18 HBO 195,000
Joe Calzaghe v. Roy Jones Jr. 11-08 HBO 225,000
Oscar de la Hoya v. Manny Pacquiao 12-06 HBO 1,250,000
It was only up until about 4 years ago that boxing had 12-13 PPVs a year, each year, for several years. HBO had basically one a month, and occasionally two in a month, while Showtime did 1-2 a year.
So, yes, it can.
At this point, it'd be more interesting and entertaining if Floyd pulled an Apollo Creed and chose some random hometown Brooklyn fighter to fight at Barclay's. I'd be more interested, too.
Well...besides Malignaggi or Judah.
Yeah I don't know how you can even compare Canelo to Maidana. Maidana has a much higher work rate and is way more agressive. Stupid comparison
If the ref let's Mayweather hold Maidana after throwing a punch then yeah it's going to be a boring fight. But if it's officiated fairly, I give Maidana a chance to make the fight interesting
Please read my clarification before ripping me. Thanks.
Danny Garcia but that doesn't look too likely now either.
I assumed Danny would make his WW debut in his next fight then fight Mayweather in September but now he's obviously not fighting at WW which makes me think he won't want to fight Mayweather in Sep.
So I'm really not sure who the Sep opponent will be.
Hopefully Thurman does fight Matthysse and the winner of that can possibly be the Sep opponent.
It'll be Garcia. They gave him this easy fight in March in Puerto Rico, then he'll have a 147 fight probably against Malignaggi in June to set up the Mayweather fight.
i just read his last twit, he said floyd is running scared. scared of what? a glass chin??
Just spin for his hardcore fans, who will believe that. Either way, the Floyd-Maidana fight is going to look a lot like Alexander-Maidana and Floyd-Canelo. Yawn.
I think it's the easier fight for Mayweather. He's probably setting the drama tone for a "blockbuster" fight with Khan in September, watch.
They're tryna get all the bad blood and the drama involved for a September showdown.
Anyhow, let's ****in Maidana!
Not a horrible theory, but Khan will have to win a big fight to have any shot of getting the fight. He would have to beat Broner, Garcia in a rematch or at least Porter.
But I think they are looking at Mayweather-Garcia for September. That explains Danny's soft touch in March in Puerto Rico. They are not risking that fight.
Whether or not he deserves it, the Maidana fight will be horrible. Floyd winning every round comfortably and picking Maidana off with ease.
Khan brings drama no matter what you think of him.
Won't be tuning in for Floyd/Maidana, boring fight IMO.
Agree with all of this. Maidana is like a smaller Canelo. Mismatch.
Uhhh no, he fights NOTHING like canelo.
Agreed, and I didn't phrase that properly.
Maidana will bring the pressure that Canelo was supposedly going to, so that's a plus, but I think the fight will look similar because Mayweather will negate that pressure.
How about this: Maidana is a slightly slower, inferior footwork-ed Hatton. Mismatch.
Interesting side note in all of this...
How bad is Broner going to look when Floyd dominates the guy who dominated him? He won't be too happy about that. Then there's nothing to be gained by fighting Maidana again either. He is the other loser in this scenario, along with Khan of course.
I don't buy the Broner-Khan theory, either. That's a lose-lose fight for Broner. He should try to get a fight with Garcia after the March mismatch.
@AmirKingKhan
I like that he broke the news before Floyd had a chance to, pretty funny.
Khan: "No response from Mayweather or his team. Fights not happening. I should of taken the title fight last December against Alexander.."
"Very disrespected by his team. Wasted my time"
"Good luck to Maidana, against mayweather."

Khan, just now, "Can I apologies to the thousands of people who are let down. You me and everyone wanted the Mayweather fight. He's running scared."
lol
Basically, Showtime and Golden Boy are hoping that Broner-Maidana is this decade's version of Floyd-Gatti, a star-making performance/PPV debut that launches a new star.
no disrespect because i like his style but ever since the khan fight
he struggled against old morales
looked fat and sluggish vs alexander who whooped his ass
and before lopez got stopped, which he shouldnt have, he was getting his butt kicked left right n centre
at 147, he isnt a beast
i see broner boxing his head off and probably koing him some where around 7 or 8 especially if the fight is at welterweight
i think maidana needs 2 move back down to 140
I agree with most of this. The fight vs. Alexander and the shots he was taking against Lopez lead me to believe that Broner will stop him and look pretty good doing it, which I'm not looking forward to seeing. Broner-Matthysee is the real fight we need; if Mayweather doesn't fight Matthysee in May 2014 first.
This ^^^. Not only has Canelo been hurt by a guy who is a career LW...he was also hurt by Cintron. I wouldn't be shocked if Floyd stops Canelo.
Yes, Floyd will stop him in 10. Partly due to Canelo's chin, partly due to the fact that 152 is going to hamper him. Pretty much a combination of both, actually, since the second reason will amplify the first.
He is just patterning himself after Floyd. Problem is, *ahem*, no pun intended, he is following post-135 Floyd, not the one who actually took tough fights.
Shane imitating Floyd MAY have helped Oscar, back when Shane still had something in the tank. It clearly did not help Canelo and don't see how in the world it can help Maidana.
