Couldn't agree more. It's the Mark of a person how they take defeat. Wilder acted like a 6 year old.
Id love to think theres a whole load of fighters from history in floyds weight class that would beat the crap out of him, i cant stand him, but hes as good a fighter as ive seen and hed be a favourite over most fighters from history.
I might take leonard over him and possibly hearns but i could equally see floyd decisioning both.
Apart from the gods of boxing - greb, srr, charles and langford - hes in the argument for the next spot as a p4p all time. ive got him about 7 i think. 50-0 beating 16 champs on the trott, i mean its an exceptional record.
I spent years praying hed lose and he rarely looked like losing, In fact in he rarely looked like losing a round sometimes.
Guy is a living legend.
hes 56-1-2
hes 30 and has been fighting at the top level for ten years already
He's 19-1-1 since he won the world title
He's beaten both ggg and kovalev
Kind of yes and no. His 80s success was down a bit to quality of opp. The 90s a much tougher era. I dont think for example the prime tyson would have beaten Evander.
However, as another poster said, hed br a threat to any heavy ever and that is true. He lacked in some areas but boy was he great in others.
Mmm, My first thought was floyd, then Ward. Both undefeated through the decade, both with quality wins etc. Both had ten of elven fights though. Canelo has 25 fights in this decade and those fights with ggg were superb. I still give it to floyd as he hardly lost a round really and beat cancelo so easily. Can make a case for canelo though. So many big names beaten and that ggg win is huge.
There were two punches, a left followed by a right. I'd love to see you cop those, might knock some sense into your head. After you wake up.
agree. Brutal shots and he was really hurt badly.
Aj has the better resume. He's beaten lots of top heavys, Fury has beaten 3. I think Ajs win over Wlad was more impressive than people think as glad was sharp and well up for that fight, he looked jaded against fury although could be argued Fury didn't let him look good. Furys win over chisora is v impressive as he totally outclassed him. Its fairly close but aj for me and the whyte win has grown in stature as whyte has been winning so much,
If Greb was a rubbish as some people say, then everyone from his era has to be rubbish too as greb was clearly the best of his era. He gave the heavier Tunney all he could handle in multiple fights so Tunney would have to be rubbish too, ditto Dempsey, Walker etc.
His record is unsurpassed in boxing in terms of the amount of fights , wins and the quality of the of those boxers for their time.
The footage we have of him is irrelevant. He’s not actually fighting and you can’t gauge the strength of his chin, how hard he punched, how brave was he, how much stamina did he have just from that footage.
He’s the p4p number 1 all time for me based on his record. The man had 300 fights against the best boxers of his day and arguably only Tunney came out on top.
What would today’s boxers be like if they had to fight every other week, with smaller gloves and less medical presence and general protection. How many times did greb fight injured? Would they survive that? It’s such a different era where boxers fight 2 or 3 times a year. It’s so hard to compare but of his era he’s sensational.
Terrible matchup. Lobov has only been stopped once in his entire career & Paulie has zero power. Furthermore Lobov is 32, still active and had major physical advantages over the 40 year old, retired PM.
I think this played a part. I thought respect to paulie. Its a rough game bare knuckle and hands become blades basically. Even fairly weak punches can rip and do a lot of damage. Hes old and retired and i thought did pretty well not to get bashed about. Lobov hasn't got a great record but this isn't boxing or mma its something different and he's clearly more well built for it. Could have scored it either way.
Anyway I think people will get bored of bkb. The reason gloves came in was to make fights more exciting in the first place.
Floyd is one of the greatest boxers of all time. What makes him great i think is the matnner of his wins, he was rarely in trouble and won most fights so easily. hes outside the top 5 all time p4p though due to the reasons everyone cites, he didn't often fight guys who didn't have some issue. Still, hes the best of his era no doubt. always preferred pac tho
Lots. Lewis, foreman, the k’s too. Evander obviously. Tyson has a punchers chance against anyone but his best win is probably Holmes or spinks. Other than that his wins are fairly thin. He lost twice to evander, never fought Bowe. In fact I think he was very very carefully matched after he came out of prison.
I think he’s got to be top ten now. He’s beaten the two best heavys of their generation. Been undisputed in two divisions. Stellar amateur career. Incredible fighter.
Some people saying fury got his tactics wrong but I don’t think so. Usyk had the better of it in close. He decided to get right in there and unload and it worked. Both fighters were fabulous. Great fight.
I think aj will stop fury within a few rounds. I think wilder would be more trouble for aj and usyk too but i just get the feeling aj will land and itll be too much for fury who will be overconfident.
I liked saunders as an amateur but been turned off by his general behaviour in recent years. Im a brit but I want Canelo to win. he's a great fighter and im a fan.
great post this was thinking the same.
Shes nearly 36, she isn't gonna change now
I've been saying on here for a while Chantelle Cameron is the best fighter around 135-140 in women's boxing
That's the thing, standard grows rapidly when the sport grows rapidly, so the fighters coming through quickly overtake the ones who have been around a few years. Taylor beat Cameron when Cameron was a kid in the amateurs but I felt it was evident in her first few pro fights she would beat the likes of Taylor down the road.
We saw in women's UFC, Rousey spearheaded the popularity of the women's side, but within a couple of years fighters come along that could deal with her.
Thats the kinda thing that'll happen in boxing if women's boxing keeps getting more exposure, the standard coming through will rise. Someone will come along in a few years what will whoop the likes of shields. Eventually the standard will peak and level out of course, but the next generation will be better than this one.
