agreed....if he had to pick a 147er that wasnt pacquiao the obvious choice is ortiz,,,,clottey n cintron are at 154 n i dnt think mayweather wants to go up in weight
i dnt think so maybe it will take him a couple of rounds to get his rythm back,,,but after that everything should be the ok....even though he has been fighting he's been stayin in the gym and is probably in good shape...
Sent to you!
Okay guys, we are live!
First fight is:
Tony Bellew v Ovill McKenzie (Links go to their BoxRec Page)
thanks for the link....this whole card should b good!!!
This one is a tough one but if Rafa can take all of what JuanMa has for the first half of the fight, I believe Marquez can get the stoppage. Just look at Lopez' fight with Rogers Mtawa, Mtawa took all of JuanMa's shots for the first half of the fight, and by the final rounds he was landing big shots on him, if there had been a 13th round in that fight Mtawa would have stopped Lopez. If Marquez can make it through the first 6 rounds he has a real chance of getting the ko, because he definitely hits harder than Rogers..

This would be a good test for Alvarez, but honestly I don't think Paulie takes it..... The only reason Paulie is moving up to 147 is because he is hoping for a fight against Mayweather and it would be too risky for him to fight a big puncher like Saul.
But hey it might happen after, and IF, he gets the Mayweather fight.
For the record, I don't think Paulie has a chance of beating Floyd, I believe the only reason Paulie would want to fight him is for the big check $$$$ that comes after the fight.

Will everyone stop with the insults and racist comments. Mexicans and Puerto Ricans, we're all Latin and we all speak the same language. Let the rivalry of Mexico and Puerto Rico be carried out in the ring and let us the fans enjoy it.
Mexico has exellent fighters, so does Puerto Rico let's leave it at that and let's enjoy this great fight between a great up and coming fighter and a future Puerto Rican star, and a Mexican warrior of a thousand wars....
PEACE

I really disagree with all of you saying that Pacquiao doesn't have anything to prove.
First of all I'm neither a Pacquiao fan or a Mayweather fan, I'm a boxing fan, and I don't think there is a single fighter that is ahead of the sport, boxing was great before Mayweather and Pacquiao, and it will be great long after they're gone.
With that said, I believe Manny has had a great career and he will have a great legacy regardless of what happens with Mayweather, but the question will be in everyone's head, "what would have happened if he fought Mayweather???". That is the fight everyone wants to see, it would settle the dispute on who's the #1 p4p fighter. Put it this way, when Manny and Floyd retire ,if they don't fight eachother, boxing fans will be divided much like we are today, some will say Pacquiao was the greatest fighter, and others will say no, Mayweather was the greatest fighter. At least if they fight we will have a definite answer on who is the greatest. Pacquiao has to prove to us boxing fans that he is the greatest, and so does Mayweather, and it doesn't matter who loses because we, the boxing fans, will know that these men were the greatest fighters of their time, and their legacies will still be great, and their hall-of-fame status will be left intact.

He's a good fighter but it is too soon for him to be facing Williams or Martinez.
It would be good to see him against Sturm or even Pavlik (if he decides to stick around at middleweight).
:hitit:
listen up dummies cause you're about to get some education.
the maximum middleweight limit is 160 lbs.
the maximum jr middleweight limit is 154 lbs.
the maximum welterweight limit is 147 lbs.
the maximum jr welterweight limit is 140 lbs.
That means if JMM wants to fight martinez at 160 lbs, he can weigh 135 lbs and martinez can weigh 160 lbs and JMM can still win the title at middleweight.
when you use "160-155 lbs" to describe a middleweight bout, it's basically because most middleweights weigh around 160 to 155 lbs. however, it's possible for a one boxer to weigh 153 lbs and the other to weigh 160 lbs and the middleweight title will still be on the line for both.
what "160-155 lbs" really means is that the maximum limit for middleweight is 160 lbs and the maximum limit for jr middlweight is 154 lbs.

Correct there is not a min weight limit but if your fighting for a title you should have the common courtecy to at least make it into the division for that title, especially if that title is vacant.
Just like there's not a rule about not makin fun of people's diseases most of us have the courtecy of not doing it.
you're slippery slope argument doesn't work. most commissions and sanctioning orgs would never allow for something liek that. most boxers would never do something like that.
So y is it ok for a Welterweight boxer to fight for a JR. Middleweight, Vacant title?
just cuz it's Pacquiao???
no dummy.
I never said it was ok for 2 welterweights (marg fought the majority of his career at WW) to fight for a vacant 154 lbs title.
personally, I'm against this being a title fight, but not because of the catchweight (which has always been a part of boxing) and not because pac was 144 lbs (which he's entitled to do under the rules of boxing).
the reason why I'm against this fight being for the title, is because neither margarito nor pac have done jack shiit at WW to deserve to win the vacant title.
But that's a question you gotta ask Sulaiman.
OK so I think we're finally agreeing in something , my problem wit Pacquiao weighin in at 144.6lbs is that he's fighting for the Jr. Mid title, if this fight wasn't for a title then I wouldn't ***** about the weights cuz both came in under 154
Preach !
and the **** that makes me laugh is
people are crying he came in UNDER the weight limit even if it was so low.
Shouldn't they be happy Marg has a huge advantage now? I swear these fags are nothing but mickey mouse crying *****es. jesus
My beef is not about advantages or disadvantages in this fight, I know this is an advantage for Margarito.
This is more about the principle of the sport, boxing is serious business and fighters should learn that weight classes exist for a reason, this is not wwe, if this keeps up next we're gonna have guys pacquiao's size fighting guys valuev's size for the hw title
that is some straight up bullshiit you just made up. there are no minimum limits and anyone can weight what ever the fukk they want as long as they are under the maximum limit.
damn the ignorance on these boards is reaching apocalyptic levels!
that's not a "rule" its just something decent people do.
That's what I said you dumb f*ck there are No Minimum Limits in boxing, but if Pacquiao is fighting for a JR. Mid title he should at least be a JR. Mid fighter, that's what a decent fighter would do
The guy translating said Luis Ernesto, but even if he hadn't why does everyone think Margarito should know who Luis Resto is? He is a boxer not a damn boxing historian
:hitit::boxing:
That judges are sometimes plain stupid and incompetent doesn't make it a robbery, at least not in this case, I actually tought Martinez won but it was a close fight and it could have gone either way, so I'm happy for the rematch..
If Martinez wins it would be nice to see him in a rubber fight against Williams, a rematch against Margarito at 154, or with Cotto at 154 (160 might be asking too much from Cotto).
Or he could stay at 160 and fight Sturm, Sylvester, or give this guy Pirog a shot at the title, either way I'm looking forward to more Martinez fights.
If this doesn't show how serious he is, then I don't know what does...
There's nothing more dangerous in boxing than facing a guy who has nothing to lose and the world to gain...
Can't wait for this fight to happen
:hitit::boxing:
I would love to see this fight . I'm a fan of both fighters, on the first one I was rooting for Cotto, but I think Margarito beats him again in a rematch, possibly by ko/tko
Even though I think he took unecessary punishment and that Robert should have stopped the fight, I believe this is what he needed to get some kind of redemption, yes he took a beating, and yes his career could be in jeopardy but he showed the whole boxing world that he is a warrior and deserves to be given a second chance, not a lot of boxers can take what he took saturday night, and he never stoped trying to win. He had a lot of chances to give up and throw in the towel when the ref was asking him if he could continue, but he decided to keep trying.
Antonio Margarito is a true warrior
he is, just taks too much sometimes
Yea he's not afraid to say what's on his mind, but I think that gives some type of personality to boxing, it wouldn't be same with guys that always kept quiet and respectful about opponents.
Thats awesome he is going to give boxing fans some great fights. Are you going to Pacquiao vs. Margarito boxinfan#1?
Probably not but I'm definitely watchin the PPV, i dnt really think is worth watchin the fight live unless ur really close to the action, and unfortunately i dnt have that kinda money right nw
I'm not a pactard, but Manny coulda finished it if he really wanted to...u could tell he went easy on Marg towards the end.
Yea and that shows the kind of person Pacquiao is he even looked at the ref in the 11th almost asking him to stop the fight, he did the same in Cotto's fight.
He is a true gentleman inside and outside the ring.. Respect
