Difference being they weren't coming off losses recently, they were on winning streaks.
Julio Cesar Chavez is on a winning streak right now, Lets say he agrees to fight Pacquiao at 154. Would you give more credit to Pacquiao for fighting and beating a Chavez at 154 (who has nobody on his resume) or would you give him credit for fighting and beating an Andre Berto or a Paul Williams even with there most recent outting?
why would I be worried look at my sig. Young old and in between no lack in talent or champions. Juanma will get raped once he faces gamboa. Morel sucks ass does santos who lost to fricking foreman.
Nobody here is saying for you to worry. I'm the one not worried as you make it seem I should. What point are you trying to make with this list and talking bash about Morel, Santos and Juanma, (who have been champs in multiple weightclasses) cuz every single one (except Alvarez) of those mexican champions you have listed on your list have lost too and in plenty and most of them to nobodies. You brag and praise about a 35-20 Bass yet you bash an Eric Morel who defeated him. You bash a Daniel Santos for losing to Foreman, yet you probably don't even know he beat Margarito. You bash a Juanma Lopez yet he won his title at 122 and 126 over Mexicans (De Leon & Luevano). You have a nice list there of champions, but I'm curious to know how much you really know about each and everyone because you keep bragging about them as if they are gods in the ring?
well he could learn if I was proud to be mexican and was in his situation I would at least make it to speak the native language. Whos is saying its the end of the world this is just boxing and you guys are at all time low.
we will bounce back in no time. Seda, Juanma, Calderon, Cintron, Quintana, Eric Morel & Rocky Martinez can all easily be champions again. Santos, maybe still has a fight in him still.
Negron, Arroyo twins, Velazquez twins, Cruz, and plenty of more of great young prospects. Even Omar Henry is half Puerto Rican. I'm not worried but you are right, we have been losing lately.
Why only those options? Why not Martinez? We are talking about big names here, as you say Chavez has fought nobody.
Yes agree with Martinez being the true big name out there other than Floyd but whats his winning streak looking like right now? 3 wins? and a loss (P.Williams) and draw (K.Cintron) prior to that? Is that good enough? Because Hatton & Cotto had won 2 straight with only 1 loss on their resumes prior to fighting Pacquiao. Its not much of a difference.
No its almost every single mexican born in mexico. Look at guerrero i believe he doesnt even speak spanish yet you want me to say he is mexican. But wat ever back on topic. How does it feel to see all your idols fall in the same year?
Is it Guerrero's fault he doesnt know spanish? You can't blame someone by how they were raised or grew up. You cant label a nationality on someone only because he doesnt fit your requirements. If his parents are 100% mexican blood, than he is mexican.
Just because they are from my island doesnt mean i'm running around looking up to them or wanting to be like them. I will always support them first but I am a boxing fan too and know there are hundreds of other fighters. Both fighters got beat and props to Salido & Segura. yes maybe I was a little dissapointed with Juanma But its not the end of the world because he lost as you are making it out to be.
Judah still had his IBF strap, He was not suppose to lose to Baldomir, I've watched that fight over and over and he didn't. Corley lost his WBO belt to Judah, and was fighting Floyd for the WBC eliminator and the bruseles fight was also a WBC eliminator. Mitchell one loss which you are referring to was for the IBF against Tszyu if that's how you spell it, and he was Floyd first fight at Welter Oscar had I believe the WBA light middle title, aside from it being a record setting big money fight.
Now manny fighting Oscar was pure money, Oscar knew he wasn't going to win, that's not why they fought, big money to boost mannys career and get him bigger shots. Hatton just had a career changing loss to Mayweather, Cotto just had a career changing loss to Margarito, I still say that's his most "legit" win, Clottey just lost to Cotto how does he get a title shot? Marg suspended known cheater fights some joke tune up, manny gets to fight for a major belt at a weight class he never fought at let alone at a catch weight. Now mosley gets a title shot after losing to may and drawing with mora. the names on his resume are great and the timing is even better
I don't care enough about Oscar to defend him
but the bottom line.is in boxing there is only some many fights where your gonna fight the pure prime of a boxer, things happen on both sides or one side that keep.fight.from happening and timing keeps fights from happening, along with money but promoters keep the most fights from happening. so.why don't we stopping picking apart each.boxers resume and except them for what they are. manny and Floyd.both have similar great resumes and both will go down as atg's and the best.of.our generation
You are missing my whole initial point. That exact point you made is the exact point I was trying to make with my list. Why criticize one man when they all do it and have done it for specific reasons. The guy was criticizing Pacquiao for fighting fighters coming off of loses so I brought this quick list up to prove my point that he isnt the only one who does it. Nothing here directed to any of the 3 fighters. All 3 are ATG's.
holy ****! why so much hate towards Pacquiao? If you going to criticize one, criticize them all. Floyd fought Zab Judah coming off his loss to Baldomir and fought Demarcus Corley coming off a loss to Judah.
Hatton got rocked in a tune up fight against Lazcano and the fought a weak puncher in Malignaggi.
Cotto was a big favourite to beat Clottey but was lucky to scrape a decision and would have lost if Clottey didn't slack off.
Hatton was rocked prior to fighting Floyd i believe with Urango if im not mistaken. As a matter of fact, Floyd himself has said that Collazo beat Hatton and that Hatton was given a gift in Hatton's only fight at 147 prior to Floyd.
You are right, Clottey did slack off but Clottey's style is hard for anyone to fight and look good against. In Clottey's 3 losses (Margarito, Pacquiao & Cotto), who's perfermance really stood out? I don't think any.
If it ever gets boring we can do a Ricky Martin vs Juan Gabriel celebrity match for the Latino "nalgas mas ofrecidas" title!!!
LOL. Juan Gabriel's nalgas might be worn down by now, dont you think? Then if Ricky martin wins, we have posters like xcaret v4 here commenting that Puerto Rico beat another washed up Mexican. LOL. jk.
Of course you will find a few on evey boxers resume, but Pacquiao has faced far more than any "ATG" fighter. Pacquiao's resume looks impressive but when you look closer and see that his only big win not coming off a loss in their last 3 fights is Barrera, it isn't as impressive as people make it out to be and certainly not a top 10/20 ATG resume like a lot of people on here think it is.
Understand but you can't discredit a fighter because he has a loss already. If thats the case, lets bash Mayweather for fighting an 11 loss Baldomir or a 6 loss Gatti. The reason I say these 2 because when you ask someone to name all of Floyds great victories, these 2 names always happen to show up.
And ricans will claim that victory the best victory since they got their independence.
****, over half of Puerto Rico denies Ricky Martin to be begin with so that victory will only be a stat. It wouldn't require a celebration or for us or bragging rights in saying Puerto Rico owns Mexico.
Look at my sig am i claiming him or rios or guerrero no. As do most mexicans from mexico dont claim them bc they are american
Its pretty ****ed up if you ask me since they do carry the Mexican flag with them proudly. Vargas, De La Hoya, Ortiz, Rios, Juan Diaz, Rocky Juarez, Guerrero are the first one that come to mind. But I guess its your opinion.
Well you are the only one. Every single other poster will agree with me. Even your fellow boris. And what do you guys dont understand about americans? Luevano is not mexican but lopez gets credit with the de leon win. Rafa shot and moving up not so much.
Why isnt Luevano Mexican? because he grew up in the US? is that why you exclude him from being Mexican?
It's a big difference, Hatton and Cotto were coming off big KO losses and looked bad in their fights after those losses.
Hatton went back to his natural weight (140) got a UD over Lazcano and dominated (TKO 11) Paulie Magg (in his natural weight both fights)
Cotto TKO's Jennings and beat a worthy opponent in Clottey in a good fight and close fight.
Where did they look bad?
This explains the signing of Kermit "The Frog" Cintron. Cintron vs Pacquiao to fight at 153 for the vacant 160 title. Now it's all coming together. I wonder if Kermit will fly over the top rope in this one vice through them.
Pacquiao's been cherry picking fighters coming off losses/bad performances his whole career, out of all the world title fights he's had only 7 of his opponents weren't coming off losses in their last 3 fights and the only big named fighter is Barrera.
He had choices of Berto, Bradley, JMM but ends up fighting a guy that has lost 2 and drawn 1 of his last 5 fights. :nonono:
Whats your point?
- Mayweather fought Judah coming off a loss to Baldomir
- Mayweather fought Corley coming off a loss to Judah
- Mayweather fought Oscar with a record of 2-2 in his last 4 fights
- Mayweather fought Mitchell with a 1-1 record in his last 2 fights
- Mayweather fought Bruseles coming off a draw to Ener Julio
- De La Hoya fought Mayorga with a record of 2-2 in his last 4 fights.
- De La Hoya fought Mosley in the rematch coming off of 2 straight losses to Forrest and a No contest to Raul Marquez.
Do I need to continue? If you going to bash one, bash them all.
Juanma lost fair and square. It may bug alot of my peeps that it came in the hands of our rivals (Mexico) in the sport but outside of that, there isnt much to say other than Salido was the better fighter that night and he deserves mad props for stopping a fighter who is on many expert's top 10 P4P list.
Im a boxing fan so i have no problem saying who my favorite fighters are. Yes i will always support my puerto rican fighters and try to follow them throughout their amateur/pro careers but they arent the only ones in this sport. morales and Fernando Vargas are my 2 favs when it comes to Mexican fighters.
I'm currently living here in Miami and I honestly think and have said before that Gamboa-Juanma would be great here in the American Airlines Arena. Cubans are here and do support there fighters (just not as big as Puerto Ricans & Mexicans) and we have Orlando being a 3 hr drive where we have a large Puerto Rican population. Also, Puerto Rico is just a 1-2hr flight from Miami.
I'm sure some of you will disagree and say Cotto was a better opponent, but I don't think so. Cotto was just three fights removed from the Margarito demolition and he beat a bum in Jennings and struggled with Joshua Clottey. Furthermore, it appeared that Santiago was in over his head trying to train Cotto and Pacquiao fought him at a stupid catch weight. Every fight for Manny after that has been a joke imo.
Bradley is young, undefeated, and a good all around boxer. He's actually not coming off a loss or bad performance and there are no stupid weight stipulations in this fight. The fight could have been at 140lbs. but I'm fine with the fight at WW. Quite frankly, I'm stunned that Manny actually took this fight. I don't like Pacquiao but I give him credit for finally taking a legit fight. This is the first Manny fight that I actually care about and look forward to watching in a long time. If Manny wins fair and square he gets kudos from me. However, with that being said I expect Bradley to give Manny every thing he can handle. May the best man win.
You serious? Cotto vs Pacquiao was a fight all of fans were excited to see. Even Hatton at 140 was a good fight to watch since that was Hatton's most confortable weight. Yeah, things didnt come out as expected and predicted but leading up to those fights, everyone was looking forward to it.
Now, Magarito, Clottey & Mosley we could say we werent too excited leading up to those.
as of right now it looks like that is the place Dibella has set for it (houston, Texas). I tried a few other spots and couldnt get the exact location. It might still be in the works so you might have to keep checking every few days or weekly.
