I wonder if any Boricuas or Mexicans are willing to admit they like opposing country fighters? I am half Cuban-PR and i know Mexicans liked Cuban fighter Jose Napoles since he fought in Mexico alot. Some Mexicans also liked Trinidad, even though they won't admit it publically.
Some of my favorite Mexican fighters include Ruben Olivares, S. Sanchez, Morales, and presently Abner Mares and Brandon Rios(Mexican American).
Some of my favorite fighters that I like that aren't mexicans are:
Miguel Cotto (gentleman & a warrior)
Sergio Martinez (gentleman & a warrior)
Ivan Calderon (gentleman & boxing genius)
Ricardo Mayorga (hilarious & entertaining)
The Peterson brothers (touching story)
Nonito Donaire (gentleman & a killer)
Manny Pacquiao (gentleman & beast)
Lucian Bute (gentleman & great body puncher)
Marcos Maidana (gentleman & an animal)
Floyd Mayweather (most intelligent boxer Ive ever seen)
Bernard Hopkins (very intelligent & efficient )
I'm a big fan of Cotto, in the Clottey fight with that cut he showed what a warrior he really is.
I have always said that Wilfredo Gomez and Benitez were AMAZING fighters, always loved watching them.
I also loved watching Chapo Rosario, I felt bad when he got that beating from JCC, I thought the fight should have been stopped much earlier.
My buddies and I always poke fun at the whole "Pacquiao fights old men" thing and comment at how Pac's next two fights include El Chapo and John John Molina... :buttkick:

I am a boxing fan not a puertorican fan. I love boxing and the nationality of a boxr has no influence on me. I'm a huge Barrera fan, Marquez bothers fan, a Canelo fan and a so so Morales fan.
My sig says it all.
I'm a HUGE fan of JMM, and was impressed by the old Vicious Victor and it seems he's back so I've hopped back on the fan train with him.
I'll always begrudge Margs somewhat because he stopped Cotto first, but that's normal I guess... Even though I was one of the few who called it a very difficult fight for Cotto, and wasn't surprised that much, it still stung like a mofo.
They like plenty of fighters of the opposing nationality.
People just get defensive of their fighters, and the rivalry adds some heat to it.
I know a ton of mexican's who actually like Cotto but trash him cause of his fans who are always making excuses. Same goes the other way.
I'm half PR, but I LOVE the Marquez Bros, Barrera, Montiel, and a bunch of other Mexican fighters. How could you not, the guys are warriors.
Im a boxing fan so i have no problem saying who my favorite fighters are. Yes i will always support my puerto rican fighters and try to follow them throughout their amateur/pro careers but they arent the only ones in this sport. morales and Fernando Vargas are my 2 favs when it comes to Mexican fighters.
Mosley is one of my favorites as was Sugar Ray Leonard and Iron Mike. As for Mexican fighters, I just can't get into the club fighter mentality.
You mean that mentality that was displayed when Salido put that beating on Juanma? Or the mentality that Segura showed when he walked down and smashed Calderon? Or how about the mentality that Chavez had when he mopped the floor with Rosario and Camacho? That mentality? I would mention Margarito vs Cotto but I'm an honest man and I can't give Margs credit for that for obvious reasons.
You can't get into the club fighter mentality? Why dont you just be a man and say what you really feel..........that you HATE Mexicans and that you won't waste any chance you get to talk badly about us. See I've been on this site lately and I always saw you just talking sh!t. At first I gave you the benefit of the doubt that maybe you were just upset because some ignorant Mexican posters had talked sh!t about Ricans and that you were simply retaliating but the more I read your comments, I'm starting to realize that you are just rotten inside with pure hatred towards my people.
The guy who posted was asking a positive question to see some positive feedback from the objective and cool Mexican and rican fans. Nobody was saying anything negative, everything was cool then you show up spewing your stupid crap. You talk as if it's a bad thing to have balls and to want to force your opponent to throw down with you toe to toe. You try to degrade the fighting style of most Mexican boxers but yet boxing history shows that most of your greatest fighters have succumbed to our fighters. You see most Mexican boxers have a "you're going to have to kill me to beat me" mentality and somehow to your dumb a$$ that's a club fighter mentality?
Didn't one of your greatest fighters in Trinidad fight with that same exact mentality? Didn't Trinidad just love to brawl toe to toe? Didn't another one of your greats in Wilfredo Gomez also have that mentality, didn't he also just love to brawl as well? I guess that makes them Ricans with a "club fighter mentality" as well by your logic! Don't you guys have a young fighter named Rocky Martinez who fights with that mentality?
You're quick to label all Mexican boxers as face first sluggers who just want to bang but if you knew your boxing history you would know that there are also many counterpunchers, boxer-punchers, pure boxers and everything in between just like in your fighters. Weve had excellent master boxers/counterpunchers like Salvador Sanchez, "Finito" Lopez & JMM Marquez, we've had face first pressure fighters who love to bang like Margarito & Segura, we've had intelligent elusive pure boxers like Miguel Canto, we've had murderous body punchers like Chavez & Olivares, we've had boxer-punchers like De La Hoya, Montiel, Morales. As you can see we've had every single style of boxer. What you call "club fighter mentality" we call having balls & liking to scrap, we enjoy it. Just because it's not in you doesn't mean you should talk negatively about those who do have it.
I want you to remember this.......EVERYBODY loves to watch Mexican boxing because you're almost 100% guaranteed that you will get a great fuc&ing fight, even my puerto rican friends admit it. No matter how much hatred you spew you will not change the facts that we rank higher than you guys do in the all time lists & that your greatest fighters have lost to Mexican fighters! If you don't believe me look up the 100 or 50 greatest fighters of all time and read it & weep! It doesn't matter where you look up the info or who's list wether it be (espn, the ring,or any other place) our fighters rank higher than yours & that's a fact. JCC Chavez, Salvador Sanchez, and even the legendary Roberto Duran (who's father was Mexican) rank higher than your fighters.
I actually feel sorry for you honestly, because as smart as you try to pass yourself off as with your quick little remarks and bullsh!t statistics or your claims about how you dwell into the psychological aspects of a fighters psyche and how you are so quick to judge somebody by talking about their so called insecurities and how you claim to be so full of confidence but yet YOU are the one who constantly puts up half naked pictures of your lady online to what? To prove that you have a girl? To try and convince people that your lady is attractive? To show that you get quick headjobs in between racist rants?
And YOU of all people are talking about insecurities???????
Huh Mr. Confidence?????
To all my goodhearted Boricuas much love & respect!
Mexs are racial whores regarding boxers. I've made it clear that other than Mexs I favor non-Mexican Latinos like Cotto and Gamboa but I also like Donaire. I know alot of Mexs that like Trinidad, Pac, Tyson and Roy Jones.

This is a purely interwebz phenomena. Mexicans like fighters. In a public forum most will default nationalistic, but in our homes we like who we like just like anybody else.
I'm a Huge fan of all races of boxers, especially Mexicans and African Americans - JMM, Morales, Barrera, Pacman, IronMike, ODLH - Me being a Puerto Rican has no effect on my opinion on boxers of other races; I try to be as objective as possible.
Well, Erik Morales was always my favorite fighter of a different nationality. I loved Joel Casamayor unconditionally. My grandfather use to tell me stories of Kid Chocolate, so even though I've only recently watched clips of his fight, I loved that dude from the gate. Jose Napoles is legit, and I've been riding with Gamboa hard.
Salvador Sanchez is a fighter I can watch all day as well. TBH, I was never a fan of JCC Sr though. He was a tough SOB, I guess it was his style. And who can forget love most of us have for Manos de Piedras?
Also, I was feeling Margarito pre-Cotto and post-Cotto, up until Mosley.
There's nothing wrong with being nationalistic. Its the reason the Olympics or the World Cup exists. There IS something wrong with discrediting fighters just because they aren't from your country.
