Spence and Wilder became stars on PBC. They weren't draws when they were at Goldenboy and were still undercard fighters, so you can't really give goldenboy credit for those guys.
Tank is also a star created by PBC, he just did a $2 million gate and sold 12K tickets in Atlanta.
Wilder was headlining Showtime cards under Golden Boy drawing 1.24M viewers and won his only world title under Golden Boy. lol Showtime hasn't drawn that many viewers for any of their fighters since. Spence first 15 of his 26 pro fights were with Golden Boy. Spence was already built into at that time the top prospect in all of boxing under Golden Boy. PBC didn't build Wilder he was already a world champ and it's debatable on what you consider created because the other was boxing top prospect already built up to on the cusp of a world title. If anything PBC delayed Spence getting a world title faster because Haymon didn't want to have all his guys at 147 fight Spence instead wanted to get them all different belts. Under Golden Boy I think they would of got Spence fighting for a world title faster.
Tank is the only guy that wasn't built at all by Golden Boy
Are you sure about Spence? If he was a hot prospect under them then he doesn't qualify as a PBC-created star either.
Yup Spence's first 15 fights after he turned pro were promoted by Golden Boy.
Errol Spence's first 15 fights of his 26 fight career were all with Golden Boy who built and developed him. Wilder's first 32 fights of his career were all with Golden Boy who built and developed him as well.
We are now about 6 years removed from Golden Boy being involved with Haymon and the only fighter I can think of that is close to a star that wasn't built by Golden Boy is Gervonta Davis. I can't even think of a highly touted prospect right now in the PBC stable. Last 3 years ESPN Prospect of the Year are Teofimo Lopez, Ryan Garcia, Vergil Ortiz. The runner ups were guys like Shakur Stevenson, Devin Haney, Daniel Dubois, Josh Taylor. Golden Boy, TR, Hearn, Warren has more potential future stars that they have built to become top prospects then PBC. Their ability to build and develop stars is a real concern. Haymon has had 6 years and the best we can come up with is maybe Gervonta Davis.
Tevin Farmer has revealed he's going to re-sign with Eddie Hearn and DAZN ahead of his likely next defence vs Jojo Diaz - planned for Jan 31st in Miami. Renewal may be a one-fight deal for Diaz bout, but he then plans to sign a longer extension regardless. — Michael Benson (@MichaelBensonn) November 12, 2019
Farmer disputing Coppinger and Benson report that a fight is done. Here we go again with this dude :pat:

Actually it was clear he was cheating, which is why he was suspended.
That the threshold has been recently changed doesn’t in any way mitigate any positive prior to the change.
In fact, the change should raise more suspicion in the the wbc, a sanctioning body headed by a Mexican, made these changes in light of all the recent positives by Mexican fighters. But that is another discussion.
There is no hate in my post. Canelo tested positive and imo the TBRB should note that next to his ranking.
If you disagree, fine.
WBC didn't create this rule. WADA did and they didn't update their policy because of Canelo or even boxing. They are the number 1 testing agency in the world and have been dealing with Clenbuterol showing up in athletes in other sports for years and this has been a huge problem for athletes in other sports who come in contact with mexican meat. Before this they would flag as failed but with a asterisk informing about possibility of meat contamination and leaving it up to other sports to figure out what it means and how to address it. But now with more evidence and more cases that keep coming up they have acknowledged that they need to stop calling these failed tests and adopted a threshold consistent with meat contamination. It's unreasonable to tell athletes well just don't ever eat meat in your home country where you live because our tests can't figure this out.
WBC is simply agreeing with WADA new rules they rolled out earlier this year and under WADA's new policy Canelo would of never even failed a test and it would of never reached Nevada Commission who took a unprecedented stance in boxing suspending Canelo after he provided evidence and receipts of meat he ate and even took and passed a hair drug test which is more accurate determining whether you took Clenbuterol for PED use or accidentally ate meat. Nevada decided we don't care if it was meat or not it was in your system so even if it were meat you are still suspended opposite of what California Commission decided about year earlier with Francisco Vargas was not suspended and allowed to fight Salido after first failing for small traces of Clenbuteral. Nevada also chose opposite of how the NFL handled it when their players were visiting Mexico during the offseason and testing positive for Clenbuterol but NFL also chose not to suspend their players after they proved they were in Mexico and ate meat. Nevada jumped the gun after negative pressure when GGG went on his rant calling Canelo a cheater before that all reports were Nevada was not going to issue a suspension handling like California handled Vargas how the NFL handled their players and how soccer handled the entire Mexican national team that tested positive for clenbuterol.
the screams of the canelo FIX are being heard louder than ever, !
no surprise to see these fake organizations circle the wagons and tries to immunize on of their own,,
It's not about WBC. WADA made this rule change and WADA is the leading testing agency for athletes in all sports beyond boxing. They made this change because for years this has been a huge problem with meat contamination in countries that have clenbuterol in their meat sources. WBC just adopted their new rules that allow a small amount consistent with meat contamination. Large amounts consistent with intentional abuse are still banned. This is the logical move because too many keep having this in their system to brush of the problem with the meat and it's idiotic to tell fighters just don't ever eat any meat when you are in your home country.
On Thursday, the WBC announced that it will begin acknowledging the increased allowable threshold for the drug established earlier this year by the World Anti-Doping Association, meaning those fighters' positive tests, as conducted by the Voluntary Anti-Doping Association in conjunction with the WBC's Clean Boxing Program, would no longer have been considered a failed test because the amount found in their system was so small. Clenbuterol remains banned under WADA code, and drug tests found to have an amount that exceeds the new threshold would still count as a failed test and result in punishment.
Effective June 1, WADA established a new threshold for the amount of clenbuterol allowed in an athlete's system in part to take into account the possibility of food contamination.
There were rumors that GGG might fire Banks and go back to Sanchez but he knows Sanchez thinks canelo whooped his azzz and is the best fighter in world. GGG's ego can't take it.
Easy he didn't want to get countered. Same reason why GGG refused to throw any body shots against Canelo in their first fight then the entire world and his trainer screames GGG had to go to the body in the rematch and yet...GGG was still shook and wouldn't throw it. Same reason GGG after calling for Mexican Style ended up retreating and jabbing. THEY DON'T WANT TO RISK GETTING COUNTERED. So they become crazy with the jab which becomes more a defensive punch just to keep canelo off of them. You go to the body and canelo hands are faster and it leaves you open to eat huge shots. Kovalev commits to big shots with the right and it leaves him open for counter shots specifically that monster left hook to the body.
Canelo takes these shots away from his opponents and makes them less aggressive on offense because they don't want that return fire.
Canelo is the clear number 1 P4P. Can't believe so many were so high on Inoue. Inoue is a fun exciting offensive fighter. But he is not on the level of guys like Canelo, Crawford, Loma. Stop overrating power especially when you fighting weaker competition. Inoue doesn't have the skill those guys have, has horrendous defense. Inoue is just really easy to hit with big clean power shots.
Canelo has moved up more weights and faced 2 of the biggest punchers of the last decade GGG, Kovalev, and even Jacobs who is a huge puncher at 160. Over 90 career KO's these guys all have only about 5 wins their entire careers that weren't by KO and yet Canelo fights all these fights and combined you can count on 1 hand how many times they hit Canelo with a clean hard power shot. Inoue got hit more times in 1 or 2 rounds then Canelo did against GGG Twice, Jacobs, Kovalev combined. This is why quality of opponents you fight matter. It's why GGG looked like a monster too when he was fighting tomato cans and it looked much different the moment he stepped up his level of opponents.
Fighter of the decade is done there is no argument to be made that's Canelo's award. Fighter of the year maybe but not clear cut still have another 2 months so let's wait on that one. But #1 P4P and FOTD is Canelo.
Pac's win over Thurman is better than old Kov so he'll win it again this decade.
Wins over Jacobs and jumping up 2 weights to ice Kovalev > wins over Broner and Thurman
and that's just 2019. Pac went 3 years without being on any top P4P lists until recently. has 4 losses this decade including being put to sleep putting a asterisk on his entire 3 fight trilogy with Marquez before the conclusive ending in the 4th fight. Pac got his FOTD laat decade but has no chance getting it over Canelo this decade.
At the time experts from WADA said it was likely contamination. Dumb people ignored it because of their hate.
It was always the most logical reason for the failed test but haters didn't want to listen. If it were other major sports like NFL or Soccer Canelo would not of been suspended other sports dealt with the same thing and decided not to suspend athletes who ate Mexican meat. WADA policy at the time was to flag as failed but to advise threshold within the limits of meat contamination for athletes who come from countries with meat problems with Clenbuterol they should take that into account and left it in the hands of the sport or commision to do their own reviews so that athlete can provide evidence and receipts that they were in contact with meat. Canelo did that and also took a hair test which WADA says is more accurate at proven meat contamination instead of actual PED use since PED is much higher amounts of clenbuterol and stays in your body and hair for up to 6 months. Hair sample had no traces which is consistent with meat contamination. Canelo followed WADA's suggestion to prove his innocence but Nevada took a stance ignoring WADA and deciding to suspend him regardless if he took it for PED use or accidental from eating contaminated meat.
WADA now changes their rules all together flat out not flagging it as a failed test at all if you are within the meat contamination threshold to avoid any gray area for how the sports and commission handle these cases. Under new policy Canelo wouldn't even of failed a test and it would never even reach a commission door step. More importantly this has nothing to do with boxing. WADA is the number 1 testing agency in the world and does testing for all kinds of other major sports but they are admitting the meat problem in countries like Mexico is so bad and they keep seeing these small traces in athletes for these countries so they have decided to remove the gray area of failing the test but depending on the commission, Sport it's up to you to decide what and how to deal with meat contamination cases.
This trash isn't about DAZN They wanted GGG to fight Andrade not Rolls Andrade confirmed this. And DAZN wasn't around when GGG fought Vanes and the rest of the bums in his career. IBF didn't order this fight and neither did DAZN. GGG has total control of his career and wants easy fights to try and back his way into canelo fights. He did with Vanes, tried to do it last year with Rolls and is back again ducking Dervy rematch and all the rest of the Hearn/DAZN fighters who are available right now to fight instead praying he can back his way into a 3rd Canelo fight
Is Golovkin the only one obligated to give people rematches for close fights? I didn't see these same people give Canelo **** for not rematching Trout or Lara. I don't see people asking Jacobs to rematch Sulecki or Derev, or Derev rematching Culcay, as those were all close fights as well. I agree, I think Golovkin should give Jacobs or Derev a rematch if he's not fighting a top guy, but it's funny to see some give him **** for doing exactly as others are doing.
Trout didn't ask for a rematch to a open scoring fight where he knew the judges score the entire fight and quit the final 3rd of the fight after being dropped. No fans were asking for a rematch especially not Lara who only him and his immediate family were asking to see that terrible fight again after he stunk up the joint. The only fight fans were demanding he give a rematch to he already gave a rematch his next fight. GGG has had fans saying he lost and demanding a rematch against Dervy and Jacobs yet he thinks he is entitled to endless rematches with Canelo where he will do nothing but make excuses when he loses like fight me Mexican Style then GGG runs from the Mexican Style fight he begged for in the rematch. His entire career is now trying to back his way into canelo paydays while refusing fights in the meantime.
Jacobs was clear number 2 at 160? That's news to me.
Canelo had 2 belts, Jacobs had 1 belt and Andrade had the last belt. Nobody had Andrade ranked ahead of Jacobs. Jacobs was unification against the clear highest ranked belt holder outside of Canelo who was 1 at 160 it was clear number 1 vs 2 champions unification. At 175 Kovalev was either number 1 or 2 depending on the media you want to go by. Kovalev was for example #2 in ESPN 175 Rankings. Beterbiev fight was 1 vs 3 by ESPN own rankings or 2 vs 3 depending on which media rankings you want to go by but not 1 vs 2 champions unifying like Canelo vs Jacobs was.
Try telling that to the idiots from the other thread I've been debating in.
They praise Beterbiev for unifying with Gvozdyk as if it were some un-accomplishable feat, while conveniently forgetting Canelo had just unified with Jacobs in May!
Canelo unification against Jacobs was the clear #1 vs #2 top belt holders at 160, Beterbiev/Gvozdyk was not the consensus 1 vs 2 at 175. Kovalev was either 1 or 2 depending on which media rankings you went by when Canelo signed on to fight him. And Beterbiev fought a nobody for his second fight in 2019 a guy on nobody's top 10 rankings and barely a top 50 ranked fighter by boxrec. Canelo's second fight to go with his unification was against a world champ 2 weight classes above 160. It would be like if Beterbiev after his unification fight with Gvozdyk jumped up to heavyweight and knocked out Andy Ruiz because that's what Canelo did in 2019.
This fight was not ordered by the IBF so let's get that out the way. GGG can fight whoever he wants next he chose this fight not IBF. He doesn't have to wait to go into a big fight or get a mandatory out the way early to get a big fight. At his age he shouldn't even want to waste any fights. He could go directly into a big fight now by just fighting any of the top guys who are like him signed with Hearn and on DAZN all those top guys are calling him out and are available right now. So this excuse well it's a mandatory is lie it's not ordered and he technically could fight big fights right now. And if and when the IBF does get around to order a mandatory he can side step it by fighting a unification. If he took big fights and unifications by the time he would actually have to fight this bum mandatory it would be 2021 when GGG is retired if not he could vacate because he would have another belt if he unified or move up to 168.
GGG's last 7 fights have been with Canelo, Canelo, Sergei, Jacobs, Brook, and then Rolls and Vanes (on short notice)...like wut...I doubt anyone has had a tougher 7 fight stretch than that.
Brook was welterweight moving up 2 weights. He had to fight Sergi because it was his easiest path to a belt (turned down title shots from Andrade and Charlo so fought Sergi for a vacant belt),. Rolls and Vanes are disgraceful mismatches. Let's call this for what it is. He looked horrible and most feel he lost to Sergi and he wants another Steve Rolls, Vanes bum easy opponent to trick his fans into thinking he's still a killer. He's a hypocrite begging for a 3rd fight, second rematch with Canelo when he refuses to give Sergi or Jacobs even 1 rematch despite fans thinking he lost both those fights Now fighting a bum who doesn't even have a punchers chance a guy with only 5 career KO'S who nobody has in their top rankings at 160. His only definitive non controversial wins in that stretch are Brook, Vanes and Rolls.
Jacobs was the unanimous number 2 middleweight champ behind only Canelo before he beat him and unified. Kovalev was world champ and every media's number 1 or 2 ranked light heavyweight at the time Canelo signed on to jump up 2 divisions and fight him. Beating the ESPN #2 Champ at 160 then months later ESPN #2 Champ at 175 he has to be ESPN fighter of the year.
4 of the 6 fight of the year candidates nominated by the Boxing Writers Association were on DAZN. More then any other network. Of today's top 10 P4P fighters in the world depending on which media you go by 5-6 of them fought on DAZN in 2019 more then any other network.
It’s been a great year packed with action fights, so it’s going to be tricky to parse. Four fights streamed by DAZN & two FOX PPV — nominees selected by BWAA. What’s the pick?Joshua-Ruiz IPacquiao-ThurmanGGG-Derevyanchenko Spence-PorterPrograis-TaylorInoue-Donaire— Mike Coppinger (@MikeCoppinger) December 16, 2019
They keep trying to put him in with step ups that are durable to get the kid rounds. But he is too good and keeps icing them and stopped 3 veterans who have never been stopped. Only 1 guy lasted 6 rounds the others were iced in 3 and 5 rounds respectively all have totally different styles. Solomon tried to move and box, Orozco tried to maul him with pressure and volume punching and Herrera is just herky jerky sneaky fighter. I say they need someone slick and durable just so they can last rounds but they thought Solomon would be that. Maybe 1-2 more fights then by end of next year give him a title shot. I know that's moving fast but he's too damn good to move him slowly at this point he has passed every test with flying colors. Floyd was moved fast got his first title shot in his 18th pro fight at age 21. 18th pro fight seems about right for Ortiz to fight for a world title
Canelo easily. Jacobs then jumping up 2 weights to KO Kovalev nobody has better wins in 2019. Pacquiao had a good year but Thurman coming of long layoff and injuries is not better then Jacobs or Kovalev. And broner hasn't won a fight since 2017. Hasn't had a belt since 2016. Hasn't won a big fight in more then a half a decade.
Great numbers. For the Canelo fight with jacobs half of the reported global viewers came from the US. Makes sense since a majority of the boxing content caters to the US while other DAZN regions are heavy on soccer and others sports. Likely the US viewers 700-900K.
He was still a champ and undefeated.
Kovalev had multiple losses and was coming off a bad performance where he almost got stopped by Yarde. Plus, he's older.
Of all the champs at 175, he was easily the weakest.
Kovalev was world champ after avenging his only loss other then to #1 P4P great Andre Ward and beat a undefeated top contender. Kovalev was every media's number 1 or 2 ranked light heavyweight at the time canelo signed on to jump up 2 divisions and fight him. Weakest world champ is rewriting history only man that Kovalev hadn't beaten was Andre Ward.
Jacobs was number 2 middleweight champ behind only Canelo. Thurman long layoffs, injuries and looked horrible almost stopped by light hitting joseito Lopez earlier this year. Kovalev and Jacobs were coming off better wins then Lopez or Broner who didn't win either of his previous 2 fights before fighting pac.
Thurman was ranked at best 3rd champ (clearly ranked behind Spence and Crawford ) at 147 at the time Pacquiao signed to fight him and Broner wasn't on anybodies top 10 at 147. Jacobs and Kovalev were universally higher ranked at 160 and 175 then Thurman and Broner.
