Canelo shows what can be achieved if you take a very good fighter and throw enough resources into making him a star. He ain't the best fighter of the decade or even currently IMO - but he will probably go down as the greatest and most accomplished when all is said and done.
Quoted for truth.
Canelo has plenty of years left, which is very promising for him.
By the time he has finished his career, it is frightening to think of how much he might have accomplished.
I don't see him as fighter of the decade though. Too many fighters who are just way better than him in the P4P sense all throughout the whole decade. His main claim to greatness is the depth of his resume, rather than being the greatest talent, but even this is riddled with controversy, robberies, nonsense catchweights, cherry picking and of course the shadow of PED use.
Canelo fans will continue to find things to love about him. Boxing fans will appreciate him, but will manage to keep perspective.

Canelo is a good fighter but it is hard to give him credit for beating a shot fighter. He will probably beat Chad Dawson too and then we can say he is the greatest of all time.
I can understand that, however nobody else is trying to do what he is. There is nothing stopping GGG, Jacobs etc jumping up and doing the same. There was nothing stopping any of the LHWs jumping up to beat Klitchko before he was ko'd by AJ. What if's and could be's are very easy...doing it is very different. Canelo did and continues to chase greatness. Yes they are choice picks, but he's still doing it.

There's nothing to be praised with canelo..
He got caught cheating
his most impressive win are all gift wins
his last win was already fixed before the fight even started.
I think even his own fans know that he was just hype by the media to make him look good but if u watch his entire career he's just a little better than broner.
Canelo the living legend koing giants. #1pfp . Haters gonna hate but Canelo is gonna win. and haters gonna watch and carry their broken hearts until illness takes them out.
lol and then they die, eh? :lol1:
candidates for fighter of the year:
andy ruiz - if he beats joshua again
canelo - jacobs and kovalev
pacquiao - thurman and broner (if you considered him top 5 before they fought)
josh taylor - baranchyk and prograis
cancio - if he beats alvarado (2 wins against top 5 opponent + 3rd good win)
naoya inoue - if he beats donaire
it's canelo at the moment. i would give it to ruiz if he beats joshua again. estrada would be a frontrunner if his fight with yafai went as planned (in december).

Glossing over the fact that he has been suspended for PED's. Y'all keep reaching.
Beating Kov would of been spectacular if he was the underdog but guess what HE WAS FAVORITE to win.
Who the "Favorite" is, is determined by the PEOPLE who PUT THEIR MONEY where their mouth is.
The betting public, and their confidence in their fighter/team/player, etc, is what the Book-makers ultimately base the odds on.
No. Ruiz is fighter of the year. he beat prime unbeaten Joshua. If Ruiz beats Joshua again, it is not even close.
I agree with this.
Ruiz Jr. = Fighter of the Year
Canelo = Fighter of the Decade
