funny thing is Khan, who i am always against, beats Broner quite easily.
Broner has terrible footwork and timing. he couldnt catch a slow Madaina.
Plus Madaina is a fighter not a pure boxer but still out boxed Broner.
at 147 or against top opposition at 140 Broner will lose a lot of bouts.
Khan is fast and long and if he keeps Broner away Broner loses easily.
However, hope Khan does not take the fight on floyds card, no reason to help
out his numbers after the pick.
Great Post. Especially the part about making picks based on pride
By winning 2 rounds? You're delusional.......
I had it 7-5 for Floyd in an exciting fight.
I really enjoyed Floyd's performance.
You guys have to let it go, floy is near 36.
He's not 26
It's ok that he is SLOWING down.
It's LIFE.
glad to see him overcome adversity and that life.
no one chooses to be born to loser drug dealing and using parents..
however, he should be happy his dad provided a positive and successful path
and seein he came from such negativity one would think he would be more
humbled and appreciative of his accomplishments...
instead he is known for making and posting racist videos and alleged
domestic violence 3x and throwing pac under a steroid bus for 3 years
with no proof...
i noticed this as well and all I can conjure up is that jmm had pac out of his
element. jmm is a technician, highly skilled, much more of a chess player
than pac. jmm had him thinking, and when you think you dont act and he
had pac mentally focused on trying to counter punch the counter puncher..
that is not pacs game.
also, jmm is an offensive powerhouse, he throws hard fast combinations and
is a solid fighter all around.
lets not yet say that if jmm can do this then floyd can do it better..
floyd is tremendous, but he doesnt have that offensive firepower that jmm
does..
now 2 or 3 years ago floyd picks pac apart 12 rounds to none
but today, floyds legs arent the same, his foot agility is not the same and
he is a pot shotter all day long...
pac has more advantages...
however, this fight will never happen...
so bring on the ghost
a shot kessler boxed circles around froch, imagine what ward will do saturday.
ward is not a 43 year old glen johnson who comes straight in a linear line
with predictability.
i see ward winning 9 rounds decisively.
so Rios wasnt a challenge because due to pacs phenomenal speed, power,
agility , footwork, angles , combination punching, stamina quickness, boxing iq
ring generalship and experience for fighting as a professional for 18 years
rios is taylor made for pac???

I would suggest Khan not to hire Floyd Sr because Floyd Sr is not even that focused as a trainer and has major health problems. He totally messed up Ricky Hatton's training camp for Pacquiao. Khan should go with a not so big name trainer who is still all balls and no nonsense. Roach had Khan fighting like Pacquiao and Khan has too many gifts to fight like that. I still think Garcia would have KO'd him again in a rematch.
i dont think freddy had khan fighting like pacman, in fact not many have ever had the athletic ability to fight like pac.
khan was fighting well and looked very good until garcia timed him and caught him with that first left hook, then after that khan was never the same.
cant be mad at anyone for garcia catching him with thunder and putting him out...
khans chin will always be an issue, his only choice is to become wlad K
boring but proficient
thats true..muscles don't mean ****...
well no one is saying you have to be ripped and jacked to fight, too jacked equals less stamina due to fast and slow twitch mm fiber ratios,
however,
lopez looks like he added 15lbs or more of fat and water, through high calorie
diet instead of high protein and necessary carbs with healthy fats...
dude should have hired a fantastic nutriionist...
i had lopez pulling off the upset but i think the weight he is carryin is wrong
and will stunt him and slow him down significantly...
sad...
Everyone has their own opinions but mine is he is the best pure boxer ever and I genuinely mean that. Certainly the best technically I have seen anyway.
Better than Sugar Ray Robinson? Yep, better than Ali, yep.
If you could shrink them all down to his size he'd outbox the lot.
I am not joking or trolling there is no doubt in my mind he is the goat and at his best he beats anyone at their best in history.
Duran would murder him
pep would pepper him
srl would out box him
hearns would batter him
the list goes on
"I don't drink, party, smoke, or do drugs."
This also what Hopkins says, and then you look at Hopkins and Johnson, and you see them giving guys 10-20 years younger than them hell. Why don't more people/athletes/fighters follow this life style?
Is it really that hard to stay away from drugs, alcohol, and smoking?
At age 21 I decided to stop drinking, and i'm never gonna do drugs, and I have only smoked cigars for a little time when I was 16. Overall i'm clean, and guys like Hopkins and Johnson should inspire more people to live a clean life. I certainly want to feel like i'm in my 30s when i'm really 50.
Hopkins and Johnson are one of the most underrated role models in the sport of boxing. I Also heard Mayweather does not drink or do any of that either, he supposedly drinks water at clubs.
im with ya my friend, im 32 and will be 33 this month and i have always been active and athletic. played 4 sports growing up and even baseball in prospect leagues of professional teams. however, today, im in phenomenal shape, actually better shape because i have cut out all alcohol aside from a beer about once a month. clean diet and natural if not organic and i have gone down from 180 to 164 lbs..
my motivation has been bernard because he is truly a student of everything in life....diet, nutrition, athletics, exercise and boxing. also, he is a student of redeeming his life from his early mistakes which ended him in prison.
everyone makes mistakes, its how you overcome them and become better which is important.
the fact that glen is 42 and runs 5 miles at 7 minutes is just ridiculous
i have him beating froch, in fact i think he stops him...
that right hand will land too much over froches low left and slow lumbering feet and defense..
You don't just get off your ass one day and decide to run at that pace. You have to build up to it by running consistently over a long period of time. You quickly jump to that conclusion at the end there, you're basically taking away from Johnson's and others work ethics, by saying they were born to be able to do that. I bet if you became serious about your running, and did it most days of the week, you'd surprise yourself.
As for Johnson, i'm pulling for him. I've always like him, even tough he destroyed Roy, who was the guy who made me a boxing fan when I was a kid.
he is actually correct.
depending on your genetics depends on your running capabilities.
fast twitch muscle fibers vs. slow twitch muscle fibers. a perfect example
would be pascal (fast twitch) vs hopkins(slow twitch)
of course hopkins won due to skill and ring iq, but my point is their abilities
to endure longer durations where clearly pascal does not have the advantage
he is a top 40
but, does that warrant him an all time great?
im asking,
what do we consider all time great?
i would think top 30 but not sure what anyone else considers
i mean should we give props to either floyd or manny for fighting anyone else but each other?
it's the best option for floyd after manny, even though cotto is a little shop worn floyd will be 35 and at 154 i respect it.
although, i think ortiz would pose more problems..
respectable fight, but i aint buying shiiiiiiit from floyd or pac
last time i checked thats wlad not ali with that jab
wlads jab is not impossible to get away from especially with that glass chin
he has
once he is hit and rocked he will be deterred
wlad has been knocked down and out
wlad is used to shooting that jab at slow fat opposition, **** my jab would
look good too
the worst thing khan could have done was to fight paulie feather fist
because once he feels maidanos power he will be fighting off his back heels
and running
Maidana has always come across to me as the type of fighter that doesn't give two ****s about what the guy in front of him is doing. He's still going to come after you and get the KO. Maidana knows one thing and one thing only, and thats how to knock people out. He isn't flashy, he isn't quick, he isn't sharp, but he does have a 90% KO ratio. Can Khan hurt Maidana enough to keep him off him? Victor Ortiz couldn't, and hes heavier handed than Khan is IMO. It's a good style matchup. This fight is more dangerous for Khan than it is for Marcos, considering Marcos can end it with one punch at any moment.
good post
if maidana head hunts all night he will be in trouble eating that jab.
but if he asserts himself to the body and works up then khan will be out
like a fat kid in dodgeball
dont be fooled, khan will be on his bicycle early in the fight its in the back of
his mind he doesnt want to get knocked the fuuuuuck out all over again,
that knockout will never leave him, ever.
marcos needs to go to the body and with over hand rights following. but not
be predictable
sooo hope khan gets ktfo, cant stand his big mouth
You are watching a old a** fight.Fighters do learn from there experiences you know.Just look at Floyd fight with Phillip Ndou.Ndou put alot of pressure on Floyd and Floyd picked him apart and stopped him.Phillip Ndou could barely hit Floyd clean or at all and Phillip Ndou was a hard puncher.
i just see the same type of fight played out.
after roger got caught with some bombs he started moving away on the defensive, finally chavez got to him.
floyd gatti was exciting,
floyd hatton was exciting,
floyd corrales was exciting,
floyd judah was exciting,
i think the problem is now days, he just does enough to win, never goes for the knockout. he plays it safe.
never dominates the way he can.
yes most of us tune in to see him knocked out.
mayweather best of all time? u must be kidding.
he is a phenomenal boxer with amazing talent and a big mouth which makes most americans dislike him.
he is easily not even in the top 5 welterweights of all time.
having said that, i pick him to beat pacman.
floyd's defense is too good, he is quicker (not faster) than pacman
and will be able to potshot 1 and 2 shots at a time to score points.
i think floyd makes a statement here.
floyd never takes a fight he cannot win.
i have no problem the way mayweather fights...
he is a defensive fighter first and that is fine.
however, most times i am not paying 60 bucks to watch it.
i did buy the hatton mayweather and mayweather zab fights because i knew those would be competitive. hatton fight was great, i could feel the energy through my plasma and surround.
i will be buying the mayweather and pacman fight for sure.
boxing is a superior sport to mma in the fact that most top boxers are
world class athletes with world class skills.
these mma guys are amateurs with wrestling backgrounds except for a few.
i like both sports, but they are very different,
with boxing being superior
