The American's are such a proud patriotic nation, with everything!
They are always positive and patriotic for their country.
So how come Mayweather has such a small (compared to manny) following in the US?
I dont understand that America is such a proud patriotic nation, yet they turn their back on what i believe is the best pound4pound boxer of all time.
He came to London in the summer and he seemed so shocked by the good reception he got here.
I just think Flloyd needws more respect in America
but saying that i dont respect how he dodged quite a few boxerws , when he could of taken them out if only he took the risk!
Dazed, i've got a Tyson highlight dvd and i can tell if someone is fighting scared
Cotto in the second half of the clottey fight was fighting scared, Dirrell in the Froch fight you could make a very good argument he was fighting scared but when your engaging every round albeit working your range and clinching when need be, thats just called boxing and being patient and poised in the ring. I noticed one of you guys said that floyd doesn't jump on an opponent when he has them hurt to me that doesn't equal fear thats just patience if the knockout comes it comes just be patience and walk a guy down you don't need to jump on a guy and open yourself up.
"Mayweather's dysfunctional upbringing was bound to overwhelm the fantasy of him becoming the next Sugar Ray. His mother was a drug addict, who has now recovered, and he has said he saw his father sell her narcotics. An aunt was killed by drug dependency and an uncle shot Floyd Snr in the leg as he was cradling Floyd Jnr. When the proprietor of Philthy Rich lamented 'my dream is for my daddy to be here' at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics, it was because his father and trainer was serving a five-and-a-half year sentence for trafficking."

your point is?
Did you notice your talking about things other people did and not what floyd did??? what is your point?

American's dont automatically back someone just because they are American. Floyd is far from the only game in town around these parts.

In America you can't buy respect, you need to earn it to enjoy it.
a guy who made millions but owed the IRS millions more is NOT smart in my book....its called stupidity
to you maybe because birds of the same feathers, flock together :blow:
Floyd makes millions to punch people in the mouth........
Hes smarter then you buddy.
We aren't robots. Nationality has nothing to do with what you do in that ring. Rooting for a fighter won't change shit either. Floyd is going to whoop that ass.
One of the dumbest things I've heard is how someone is scared to get hit. Who the f*ck wants to get hit?
Exactly. I see that stupid comment over and over here.
childish?
bitch i've been watching boxing for 25 years.
don't try act like if you don't like how floyd fights it's because they don't appreciate boxing.
i had no problem with chris byrd's pecking and winky's jab jab jab style.
they did what they needed to do to win.
floyd doesn't fight the way he does because he needs to to win.
floyd fights that way because he's scared to get hit at 140 and above.
Mayweather stayed in the pocket and punched against Corley, He did the same with Judah. Both 140 and above with power. Hatton also. At least try to be truthful. You can't expect a smart fighter to use that same style in every fight with different fighters. And people used to say the exact same thing about Whitaker that they do with Mayweather. "boring" "ran", "scared to get hit" You might have been one of them. Some people STILL claim he "ran" from Chavez. But I guess it's the in thing to give Pernell props NOW since he's retired. as long as it makes Mayweather look bad. Especially if it makes Mayweather look bad.

His attitude stinks, too much talk, not enough action
Americans are not that patriotic about boxing.
Boxing's not even a big sport in American. Most Americans do not follow it. Many of the fans are of Latino descent and really get behind fighters of their ethnic background, or in the case with Pacquiao, Filipino-Americans supporting him. Other fans support fighters who are from their certain area (Ward in Oakland, Pavlik in Ohio, Diaz in Texas, etc...).
I don't know anyone that rooted for Tyson over Lewis because he's American. It's because Tyson is a beloved fighter for the excitement he's brought. Mayweather tried to make the Hatton fight patriotic but not too many people cared. I went to a fight party and damn near everyone was rooting for Ricky.
The more patriotic fights that take place in America are involving fighters from Latin-American nations.
Is this thread a joke?? What do sports have to do with Patriotism? Most Americans do not follow the NFL, NBA, MLB, Hockey, etc. The fact that Floyd vs JMM did over a 1Mil buys is evidence to Floyd's popularity in America, look at the faces in the audience at that fight. I'll tell you what is a joke, the political system in the philippines, the idea that someone with a criminal record like Manny's can run for office is a joke. There is no democracy in the philippines, it's all based on his popularity. A country putting their hopes and dreams in the hands of an athlete is a joke as well.
i agree about the political system over there in the phillipines, actually their whole system is whacked, you can't even get a job at mcdonalds or cleaning toilets without a college degree!!! talk about keeping your people in poverty, it is a total popularity contest.
america isnt that far behind............. sad to say.

I say f them.Blacks got his back that`s all he needs.
Man blacks don't support sh!t. I'm black and I know first hand. Ask any rapper or athlete. I guarantee they will say 80% of the fans are non-black. Also not just with sports and entertainment, but also in the business world.
as a patriot to my country floyd mayweather isnt anyone I want to represent me or my country. as far as I'm concerned, floyd and his antics are what is wrong with our sport and what is wrong with a lot of different parts of our society.....
a persons conduct is more important to me, a lot of times i find more people who have more of an american heart and attitude from foreign countries than a lot who were born and raised here, because they know what the importance of a free republic is all about, while it lasts, unlike spoiled people who grew up in america thinking everything should be given to them, as it's a right and not a privlige.
people come to america to be homeless and risk having nothing because they know it's better than where they're currently at, and they know, they can make something happen because there is a real chance for someone to make his own destiny..............
Dazed, i've got a Tyson highlight dvd and i can tell if someone is fighting scared
Hahaha. You're right about that. Although I bet Floyd doesn't fight like that. I mean seriously, these guys just go too far.
"He fights like he's scared!"
Really?
