We may hiss and boo at "The Contender" as we are afficionados of the sport. The average joe out there who couldn't distinguish a left hook from an uppercutlooks at the show differently. Bringing in more fans is always good for the sport, be they educated boxing die-hards or the occasional ppv buyer. The important thing is that more people see this as a sport.
A lot of personalities have been preaching the so-called "barbarity" of boxing, that it is really just a brawl funded by gambling and not a true sport. And most of these people have not really followed boxing or even tried punching mitts. With the contender, they can see the amount of preparation behind a fight, how technique, strength and heart all play a vital part in a fighter's victory or defeat, much like any sport.
It would be ultimately better for the sport of boxing if an international cast was chosen. Maybe some latinos, europeans and asians in the mix could really spice it up.
Arce is the truth, he reminds me of a meaner-version of Michael Carbajal...I hope he continues up the weight scales, I could see him winning titles all the way up to 122
I don't think he can outlast Rafael Marquez especially if he tried fighting inside like he did with Hussy Hussein.
Yes as I was told Pac only knows of one way to fight, and it would be a good fight for him.The Manila Ice punch was a joke, and if that's what Roach was calling the secret weapon, it was unclassified real quick ;).Can you teach a old dog new tricks, or should Pac stick to the script. I will go with the latter, and choose the opponents more wisely next time.
I actually saw the Manila Ice punch a coupla times, most notably the last punches Pac threw in the 12th round. It's just too bad that Manny didn't use it a lot. There were a lot of times where he ended up in the left side of Morales after certain exchanges, if he used the right hook then, things would've been a bit different.
Hatton has got to make it to the top 10 after beating Zoo. In my list he should be no greater than 8. He has a lot to prove and an undefeated record is not really indicative of p4p greatness.
Having a third player on the ppv circuit could lower the prices on cable and lessen the horrendous amounts of commercials and advertising on title fights broadcast abroad. :)
Steroids are abundant in many medicines that help pulmonary and bronchial functions, like asthma and pneumonia medicine. Toney could take his alibi from there.
Nandrolone is really an old school roid and has been around (and in use) way before Eastern europeans started breaking world records. Most sports commissions are aware of its existence and it would be pretty stupid to use it as most testing centers are well-equipped to detect it.
Corollary to this, Toney might say that using Nandrolone would be too obvious (and foolish) and that if ever he would use performance enhancing-drugs, he would use something else instead of nandrolone. :D
Correct it is as easy as detecting a pulse in someones body. It is tested during every drug test, I would like to know what Toney was thinking really.
He has got to be pretty stupid to think he can get away with Nandrolone use. This is so easy to detect, Toney fans could actually have a vaild point that this was intentionally put in his water or given to him by mistake by some doctor or something.
Is there any source out there that shows how much he had in his blood?
isnt alfonso soriano a baseball player? lol
I/ve only seen sturm fight against dlh and he looked very good there. So based on that performence none of them could beat sturm
You're right haha. I was watching some baseball highlights hehe. Damn Red Sox. :D
Guzman has to be ready for marathon exchanges as Pac will not quit. Guzman has to be real slick and box his way to a decision. If he slips up even for a second, Pacquiao's combinations will send him home.
El Terrible is hanging up his gloves, hence the appreciation. People outside of England didn't give a rat's ass when Hamed gave up boxing.
Btw, I wonder where the Hamed nuthuggers are? They used to say he would put MannyPac 6 feet under haha! :D
It is my belief that BHop will emerge victorious in a rematch. His pride was clearly trampled by that huge loss and he will spare no efforts to beat Taylor.
That rematch will take so much out of Ex that all his fights afterwards will probably end up as losing causes, including a third encounter with Jermain Taylor.
