Congratulations to Morales!!! I thought he won a close fight. Some people scored it a draw or even gave the fight to Manny but the majority rightfully acknowleges Morales won. There are also alot of people that have been saying that a rematch is unnecessary. To them I say bull shit! This fight brought as much to the table as any of the great fights in recent memory. I would like to say to all of you who think that Morales deserves another shot at Barrera who has won 2 of the last 3 meetings and the 3rd, I must say, a desisive win in a close fight by Barrera. Some thought that Morales won but most rightfully acknowledged Barrera as the winner. Is there really a need for a fourth bout between the two. You bet! Just like there is a need for a rematch between Pacquiao and Morales. The fans will demand it. It is only fair for Pacquiao whos heart and courage make him deserving of another shot. Great fighters have gotten rematches on lesser and more decisive one sided victories in the past only to rewrite the outcome. A fighter like Pacquiao should not be allowed to fade into obscurity based on a match that still leaves much to the imagination. There are still alot of what ifs and 12 rounds was just not enough. I can still see Pacquiao being able to win againts Morales as do many others. I think Morales needs to take another 7 or knock Pac out to really convince me. On the other hand Pac will need to win 14 rounds or ko Morales to convince me as well. It is 1-0 7rds to 5 -Morales. I don't think the final bell has rung. If heart and courage can get a fighter anything it should be a second chance.
Pac is still improving his game and this fight well give him confidence even in defeat and his chin has been checked and it passed with flying colors. I think Pac should fight JMM first but Morales should be in the future.
Yes as I was told Pac only knows of one way to fight, and it would be a good fight for him.The Manila Ice punch was a joke, and if that's what Roach was calling the secret weapon, it was unclassified real quick ;).Can you teach a old dog new tricks, or should Pac stick to the script. I will go with the latter, and choose the opponents more wisely next time.
I actually saw the Manila Ice punch a coupla times, most notably the last punches Pac threw in the 12th round. It's just too bad that Manny didn't use it a lot. There were a lot of times where he ended up in the left side of Morales after certain exchanges, if he used the right hook then, things would've been a bit different.
The thing is Morales ups his game as his competition does. Morales is more versatile in the ring than both MAB and JMM in the fact that when he is into the fight he will adjust and change from brawler to boxer and back again. MAB on the other hand always chooses one or the other and sticks with it till the end. JMM is always a boxer.
He throws every punch in the book and he throws it well, he is not the quickest fighter in the world but against fighters like pac he knows how to set the pace and keep fighters like him off of him. Basically i think another 12 round fight with Morales would seriously shorten Pac's career . And pac's chances of beating Morales arent very good that we gotta admit.
Im not saying they should stick to easy fights but they should keep building on their career. Pac should fight MAB again, Im sure a rematch would be much harder on Pac than the first fight. It would build on his legacy and has a higher chance of win.
I agree that maybe they should go seperate ways build up their careers and legacy and then do a rematch. The roles have been reversed because Erik has redeemed himself by beating Pac. Pac needs Morales more now to solidify his legacy. Pac and Morales are brothers in spirit that is why they respect each other alot and it shows. However it may not happen that way. Finkel and Arum are talking about doing it again this september. Well have to wait and see. The fight did so well, promoters want more money. Anyway if they had to wait, Erik would get older and that wouldnt be fair.
Theoretically if they wanted easy wins. Barrera should stay away from Pac, Morales should stay away from Barrera, Pac should stay away from Morales. But what challenge is their in that. Pac will have to adjust to beat Morales or JMM. Barrera will have to adjust to Pacquiao. Now that Pac has seen what it is like to be 130 and maybe a little insight into Morales and what he has to offer needs to adjust to the more experienced fighter. I think personally at this level of greatness among these fighters that Barrera will be much much tougher for Pac in the rematch. Pac will be much much tougher for Morales as well. The good thing that came out of the Morales victory that Pac can take with him as a blessing is that he will remain hungry. He was showin signs of contentment for a bit but i know he is hungry for a rematch. That guys is torturing himself right now for losing. Pac hates to lose and thats why he will be tougher in a rematch.

I think Pac should fight someone else. Just like Erik should fight someone else instead of Barrera. Just my opinion though.

On at least two other occassions I saw that knee weaken. I took note when I was watching but was too hyped to remember so I will have to watch it on vhs again. Pac knees were wobbly too when he got hit. When they take a quick step to catch themselves after a big hit and I swear I see those knees wobble. It takes ALOT of will power to stay up from a big shot like the shots I seen both fighters take. But Morales was hurtable. Don't buy into his hype that he wasnt.
lol I DON'T buy the hype that he's unhurtable lol. He was hurt in the first off a body shot, he held his right rib with his left glove. I always knew he can get hurt. Pac just had nothing in the end to really knock him out. If Erik was wobbling in the end after Pac blead for 7 rounds and got picked apart, Pac had the power to knock him out. The problem was landing....

Mooks man, I know Morales won. People that watched it with me know Morales won. But I thought all through out the fight that Pac had a chance. The fight ended to quick for most of us watching it live a the MGM. I havent seen the HBO telecast but will see it after work today. Don't know how it played out on T.V. but live, I will have to say from what I saw pac was in it all the way. I saw pacs knees buckle, I saw Morales' knees buckle. Pac aint gonna win it on the score cards unless he, like you said changes his style. But Pac has the power to knock him out. It is going to take more than one punch but he definitely wobbled Morales and vice versa. I think Pac needs to fight him again. I pray to the high heavens it happens because I truly believe Pac has a very good chance of winning. More than what this fight has ingrained in our heads. Props for the respect Morales gave Pac though. He knows whats up.
When did you see Morales wobble other than the twelfth?
I wouldn't have felt so saddened if I didn't think it was a blowout. I saw it with my own eyes. No body told me, nobody influenced me. I had it 8-4. But for me that was a blowout and in no way close and I am as big a fan as you. And the people who thought Pac won are lying to themselves. By the way, I saw an interview in Maxboxing postfight. Morales was asked who do you think was a harder fight him or Barrera. He smirked "You saw the fight...who do you think was harder."

Common man, YOU KNOW IT IS NECESSARY. Great warrior always deserves a second chance. Unless you don't think Pacquiao has shown you enough that he does not deserve it. He clearly does. People will pay to see it again but money aside, just the principle of the matter dictates Pacquiao should get a rematch based on the way he has endeared fans with his heart and courage. He deserves a chance to be as great as Morales or Barrera. If he loses then he loses. But he deserves that opportunity.
honestly pacman was a game oponent great heart by at the end he was totally outclassed and outboxed by the most experienced and talented morales by the way how do you likeit when my boy switvhed to southpaw taunting pacman power that was the cherry on the top
if was like morales was saying to pacman "come on man i give your chance to Knock me Out and unfortunely for all yoy pacfans pacman could not deliver
so that's my personal thread i don't see nothing wrong about it

peace
Wow, that's some warning you give as a thread title.
The fight was 7-5 and some people around me even thought Pac won. It was far from a blowout. Don't let the bloody eye fool you. That was from a headbutt. Pac looked messed up but without that cut not really that bad. It was a close fight that people are blowing out of proportion. According to Morales one of his toughest fights ever. So Pac did iite short of getting the W. But if he would have won one more round than it would have been a draw. Close fight so don't over exaggerate on that win. That was a heartbrake for me but I know Morales won fair and square. I just want to see a rematch for Pacs sake.
