That brain injury he had in the past had absolutely nothing to do with what happened. Valero was a freight train on his way to getting derailed, he was living on the edge lately and a lot of shit was going around his life. He should of never left Japan.
Naw, homie was downright psychotic, even my wife told me that when we saw the DeMarco fight together, she said he looked demented.
I agree with the bold, the guy was on the edge and was a wild guy living reckless. Still though, people underestimate what brain damage can do to you. The motor accident was serious, and even a guy with a record like his still gets hit.
I'm not trying to make excuses for him, but like siggy and 2501 are saying, there is a big correlation towards violence, impulse control, and brain damage.
It's a tragedy for everyone, Valero too.
Litzau was one of the reasons it got cut, he leaned his head into Juarez! He is the taller guy and he was lowering his head toward Juarez! Litzau sucks, he got Chris John's left-overs, and that wasn't the same determined Rocky Juarez we have seen in the past.
What Juarez have you been seeing in past, this is textbook Juarez. Also Chris John doesn't ruin fighters, he just scores points.
Juarez has been in wars, and just because you think boxers slap doesn't mean that each war doesn't have an affect. Juarez has been in wars with Johnx2, Marquez, Barrios, BarreraX2. The **** that is the same Juarez, are you Litzau? Why in the hell would you say that? Sure Juarez fights the same stlyelistaclly but his punchers are a tad slower and so is his movements but its clear to anyone that Litzau fought Juarez when he was past it after wars he has had.
Litzau got left-overs.
Juarez has been in some wars and he ain't fresh, but he's a career choker.
I damn near put money on Litzau because he is the kind of guy Juarez struggles on, even earlier in his career. Litzau may have gotten lucky with the stoppage, I could see him losing by dramatic late KO, that would be a textbook Litzau move by contrast. :pat:
I'm not convinced Roy will look as bad in this fight as most people think he will. Roy is shot, but he's not fighting a brutal puncher, or even a very aggressive one either.
I think it will be a decision.
Ward schooled Kessler
The very prestigious school of the headbutt-clinch. One of the most effective moves in boxing, too bad it's illegal and in no way skill.
lol I agree, it aint the same when Kellerman replaces Merchant,
So whos your preference dudes, HBO or Showtime?
Yeah, I'm gonna miss Larry when he is gone.
Can't stand Showtime outside of Bernstein. HBO has the higher production value, that counts for something, I'd go with them.
Only one who gets me shaking my head is Lampley, but he's decent as a play by play despite his frequent miscalls on punches.
Larry Merchant is GOAT.
Also, Pacman IS an all time great, look at his credentials. There really isn't any disputing it.
anyone remember this sht?
the fact that this was on a PPV card disgusts me
Good one, I remember that fight. What a joke it was, Martell's biggest asset was he looked dignified in his Indian headdress.
I think a Mosley win would shake things up, and make things interesting. Win-Win situation to me though, Floyd wins then hopefully we get Floyd-Pac.
Personally I'd go for a Mosley win.
I agree that Floyd has certain lapses against southpaws that he doesn't have versus orthodox. The angles coming from southpaw are responsible for the best shots landed on Floyd, doing the most damage.
In two fights against southpaws, Floyd has been stunned, hurt and flash KD by right hooks he didn't see and walked into, and straight lefts that came between his shoulder and right glove. I don't see that against far better, orthodox guys.
He is genuinely appreciating Manny, comprehending how dangerous he is. At the same time though, he is confident enough in himself to not believe that Pac can do to him what he did to the others.
To Clottey's credit, I don't think Manny will wreck him the way he wrecked his last few oppononents.
I think it is good that Clottey is in deep thought, it shows how serious he is. He sounds pretty formidable in this interview.
he has won his last 5 fights all by ko plus the resent sparring with pacquiao should help
Yeah, I haven't seen those fights but at least he is doing what he should against those guys.
If he is as shot as people say, Gomez will lite him up. It is a shame, cuz if Castillo had anything left he would handle Gomez.
Interesting fight though, Castillo's last shot.
Thanks for the insight, I was on a hiatus when he slid apparently.
Those odds looked tasty at first, but I guess the old man is bound to lose to the lesser man.
I won't count him out zero, but my little green warriors will have to.
Just like Mayweather. I looked at all those weigh in pics again and his body has developed ALOT.
It's true I'd say Pac and Floyd both peaked around same weight. IMO, Mays frame holds welter more naturally, but I still consider him a peak 135-140 guy.
I like the promotions they are doing for this fight. I think boxing has the potential to tap into number that dwarf 1 mil buys, and the promotions being used are targeting that very well.
This could be a great night for boxing.
Yeah, I read that it was a go on Koizumi's webiste, but Arum said it isn't.
Arum said a contract was sent to Montiel, but he's not signing it.
I'm just now reading that, actually doesn't look good. Arum trying to keep it in house as usual.
Yeah, I think I'd pick Hasegawa at home, but Montiel is no joke. Montiel fell a little short of what I expected of him, but I think he has a shot against anyone.
If mayweather kills in his next fight in gate/ppv, there isnt going to be much that pac is going to have to negotiate with at this point.
I agree. Fighting Shane was a bold move for Floyd, and if he wins, he really one upped Pac.
Ok is this fight on or not, damn.
According to Joe Koizumi its on.
Teiken Promotions has acknowledged the contract of Fernando Montiel (40-2-2, 30 KOs) duly signed by himself and his exclusive promoter Fernando Beltran on Tuesday. WBO bantam champ Montiel is scheduled to square off against WBC titlist Hozumi Hasegawa (28-2, 12 KOs) here in Tokyo, Japan, on April 30. It will be a very sensational confrontation of the world champions which our fight fans anticipate with great enthusiasm.
