My love will always be with and for boxing but ive no hate against MMA. I think people need to respect the fact that the skill set required is broader and the sport as a whole is far younger. Its proponets will improve technically over time the same way boxing has over the last couple of centurys (only faster given the changes in society etc.). Right now you have guys who are great wrestler or great BJJ guys or whatever but few with a truly solid and evolved all-round game. Given that, if the fight stays standing i'd give the edge to Mayorga given his superior hands (an obvious point lol). But dnt underestimate what a barrage of Thai kicks to the leg can do. Ive seen pro-boxers downed by Thai/Kickboxers through leg punishment. And if this goes to the ground mayorga hasnt a hope in hell. Hope he does well though or the MMA guys are going to take it a run with it. Cant deal with those goons chatting mad shit.
I think your being a little harsh here. as with many volume punchers, its often simply about overwhelming your opponent and outworking them than being silky smooth and accurate ala mayweather, whitaker etc. but yes, he certainly has serious flaws (especially defence wise). He didnt look gd in the 3 and a bit rounds we saw here tonight though and i hardly think Mayweather et al. are whitting their pants at the prospect of facing him after this showing. Not really sure about the soundness of the gameplan either. Cintron is exactly the type of fighter who you should try and overwhelm with output. Yes he can punch but Paul has a decent chin and kermits shown he can fold under pressure
well that was bollocks. A no contest was the correct ruling if the rules mean anything. but oh yeah, this is boxing so that doesnt really mean fuk all. shameful. who the fuk do they get to judge these fights anyways?! morons. williams lukd pretty aweful an im a big fan. it was early tho so i guess it cud of gotten interesting and to be fair it had just started to hear up (a bit anyways haha). i was telling m8s of mine who are casual fans that this was worth a watch based on Pauls punch output alone. feel like a right tit now lol
Adamek would win this fight. TA has a great chin and stamina while Haye's is far below average. TA just has to be cautious early and then he gets a late TKO.:boxing:
Ist dont think he has the chin for somebody with Hayes power. Just my opinion though:boxing:
He quit but tht doesnt change my opinion of him. I was always (and still am) a Barrera fan, but his wars wid Marco are testament to his courage and fortitude as a fighter. Nothing but respect from me.
Haye couldnt drop back down as of right now, hes spent far to much time putting on weight (functional weight) for his move into the heavy weight division. Plus I think Haye would take his head off lol But Adamek is a fantastic fighter.
JMM is one of my very favourite fighters but hes hardly elusive which is why I think Floyd (who im an admirer of also for his sheer skill) will win. Still looking forward to this though. I just want to see great fighters facing off against each other. If JMM could pull this off it would be huge. Still think that Floyd is just too slick and quick (nevermind his defensive qaulities) for Marquez. Complete respect for JMM though for taking on the most skilled boxer on the planet though, regardless of the result hes still a living legend in my eyes!
I agree. The... "I've been training hard, staring at myself in the mirrior with no shirt on. Training you know nothing about" line is gold.
haha yeah that was sum hilarious shit
I agree!!!!!!!!!!!
im glad u agree! haha
Very well said. Bless Pacquio's heart but he aint no Sugar Ray Leonard. Not only was he a beast physically, he had GREAT ring generalship, he defeated the great Roberto Duran MENTALLY (the type of mental pressure ALI would press on his opponents), and he was the bigger guy at 5'10 defeating the reinning middleweight championship Hagler.
No comparsion, he might even embarrase Pretty Boy Floyd. With that said, you don't know until both fighters step in the ring. Did Leonard fight better opponents? Of course, that also made him step up his skill and mental determination. If Floyd belonged to the 80s, who knew how great he could be.
Floyd is in a strange position. He has the opportunity to fight more DANGEROUS fighters, but not more skillful fighters. Like I have said before, in my eyes SRL is an ATG and PBF is a hall of famer. In order for Floyd to secure his legacy as an ATG he needs to defeat Miguel Angel Cotto, and if it is close defeat him in a rematch, AND defeat Pac Man (which I think he does pretty handly)
U make sum excellent points, who knows how Floyd would fair had he competed in the enviroment that SRL and the other late 70's and 80's greats did. I think hes too quick for an excellent, methodical but comparitively slow Cotto and posively too ring smart for Pacman but whether he could do the same to Hearns and Leornard, who knows. Im not sure.
I liked Foreman alot, especially when he went against Merchant and/or Lampley lol RJJ was great to. Merchants awesome, Atlas is great just for his highly ammusing quasi-philisophical/poetic cheese lmao
Bro, I give credit were credit is due!!!!!!!!!!!!
Seems ur a Cotto fan and to go off on a tangent here, how'd u think a rematch with Marg goes? I think he can beat him. He boxed his ears off in that fight but wilted under the punishment. With a revised strategy he'll show Marg for what he is; a tough fighter who really isnt that brilliant.
Of course not!!!!!!!!!
Haha well i respect PBF alot for his unquestionable skills but P4P I dont think he could hang with some of the very best there have been. Hes shown weaknesses against lesser fighters that could have been exposed by historys best
No, he havent faced somebody that good. I think Pacquaios speed and angles will give him lots of problems if they do fight.
I agree but even Roach im sure would agree that Pacman (and im a big fan of the filipino maestro) aint SRL.
I notice majority of the people who are saying Hatton will KO Pac had registered on November, December of 2008 and Jan 2009. I also notice their location in Europe and have European fighters on their avatars.
Correlation does not imply causation sir lol
Well it appears to be settled now. I think Manny lets people get in his ear. With what Hatton brings in terms of being no. 1 at 140, bringing a massive travelling fan base and in terms of PPV numbers it had to be 50-50 an anybody who thought or thinks different has there head up there arse frankly lmao
